Hey did anyone who ordered 10.6 through the Up-to-date program have their shipment status change?

Nope. Mine also STILL says "September" as the ship date. Looks like all Up-to-Date orders are still saying "September" as a ship date. I wonder if this info is just not being updated or if ALL Up-to-Date orders are being shipped 4 days after the rest since these are the least profitable for Apple. Hopefully it is just a database type of glitch.

Someone pull out their Mac OS 10.1 Puma upgrade discs (the one that was available for free from the Apple Store) and see how it works. At the time, the full version of 10.1 was $129 and the upgrade for 10.0 users was free.

We have precedent for an upgrade release.

Edit: Looks like the 10.1 upgrade disc required 10.0 installed on the drive to proceed. If you used Disk Utility to format your drive or make partition changes, you had to reinstall 10.0, then 10.1. Although the 10.1 disc did have an "erase and install" option if 10.0 was present on the drive.

I know why the Brits and Canadians and other non-US English speakers are paying more:

Its easy really.... its all those 'u's. The US version is a leaner, meaner version of SL because they stripped out all those extra 'u's. Neighbor, Harbor, Labor, etc. The US disc is smaller and lighter. I'm sure its the same idea for other languages too. All those umlauts and accent graves . It just adds bulk to the disk. See, it's perfectly logical! :D

civil meaning...?? He asked with a hypothetical scenario, and didn't flag is as such. I dare anyone in there to throw the first stone if they haven't done the same thing at some time in their life...

And if life is only about finding out things at the time that the great Apple has planned to inform us, then what is the raison d'être of this site?? :)

I'm good, I don't know about him :p

See? You're backing down the rhetoric, and getting more information. It works far better, the old catching more flies with honey than vinegar homily.

I have been the pushy demanding customer, and the reasonable calm customer. Guess which way gets the answer more often?

Read though the thread at the other folks who have asked same/similar question, in a calm, reasoned manner. See that they were actually answered. Amazing, isn't it?

Don't feed the troll!

Yes there are a lot of trolls on here. If people do not like Snow leopard they have no reason to purchase or use it. I was suprised when I read alot of people are still using Tiger.

ya know what's annoying? People asking the SAME QUESTION 100 times in the same thread... quit being lazy and read what people have answered 100 times already.

So all the rumors were TRUE!!!!!
Fantastic!!!!!

:apple: I LOVE SNOW LEOPARD :apple:

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Coming in just 4 days!!!!!
Hooray!!!!!

Party all day long, today is my birthday as well :D

I have a question regarding the install process for Snow Leopard. Since it's not out yet, there may be no final answer, but I was wondering - for those of us with Leopard, can we do a full clean install of Snow Leopard even though we'll only have purchased an "upgrade"?

Not got a chance mate, the whole point of the upgrade disk is that it requires 10.5 installed.

I agree. I thought the features of Leopard were compelling enough to move from Tiger. Sounds like Apple may get their $129 Leopard license + $29 upgrade out of them either way.

I called my local apple store and they said that SL will be available for purchase as soon as they open in the morning on Fri.

Is it true that Snow Leopard is preorder only and that it will not be available in store on Friday?

This is a conversation I just had with Apple Online.

Please explain how iTunes is bloated. Mine is very fast an efficient. Plus, every single feature in iTunes can be turned off.

It takes a long time to load and to switch media. It is a poor database manager. It has many more features in it now than what was originally intended and therefore needs to be re-written.

Yes. And it can't be that when an Apple girl hears 'Windows' they immediately hang up, whew, thank god they don't have to deal with a customer. Because that's NOT what customer service people have as an attitude, right. (I do work in this line of field, and people DO have this attitude sometimes. Get rid of the customer as soon as he says something that might even remotely be not connected to your product.)

And the civil answers that people got when asking the 100% honest question were really that much more helpful, right? I'd assume that 5 days from launch, the people behind the telephones should be prepared to answer this kind of question. As it seems, I'm wrong, and with me a lot of other callers.

I first bought a Mac for my second year of uni back in 2007, it came with a drop in disk for 10.5. The Only thing I have ever used 10.4 Tiger for on my own Macs is to run the installer for 10.5 Leopard.

By what date do you guys suspect the new laptops will come preinstalled with the snow leopard?

Couple weeks. Any mac that is already built wont have it preinstalled, so you have to wait for current supplies to sell, and apple will preinstall after that. Until then, they'll be putting upgrade discs in the box when you buy your mac.

I just called my local apple store and was told that it would be available in store from 9am on Friday. Strange.
