I've been thinking. Snow leopard, although i hate to say it, is a pretty small upgrade in a way, and couldn't of taken Apple too long to produce, with their thousands of workers.

So what have they been up to? Is SL something to keep us going until some product release in september?

I haven't felt the 'Apple' feeling since the iPhone and iPod Touch came out. I really want it back :)

Come o'wnn apple!

Snow Leopard - Shipped Aug 26th - Est. delivery date Wednesday Sept 2 ....... ordered on Aug 14th

So as an upgrade customer i get it later than the shops? ....

Do Apple deliver before their estimates?

Usually, but be grateful! Mine hasn't even shipped yet...

Isn't it just as easy to check the System Profiler? It seems the question really comes down to will SL benefit my hardware?

Correct me if I am wrong. If it is an Intel Core Duo or later SL will support the system in some manner. There is a post with a graph of what machines are supported and what is supported around here somewhere.

As someone else pointed out, the graph isn't always right and the EFI is what's holding some Macs back from the 64bit kernel, and not their hardware (which is compatible). The terminal command is one of the few ways of checking if the EFI is 64bit. But yes, the hardware capability is easy to check in System Profiler.

The hardware designers and engineers are not the same people as the OS programmers.

My SNOW LEOPARD HAS OFFICIALLY SHIPPED!!!

EDIT : Says on tracking that its coming from the Netherlands. WDF?

Just phoned Apple, they said that it's within the UK, and all UK Snow Leopards ARE being sent First Class (Standard Parcels) So should get it on the 28th if yours was shipped on 26th!

Actually.. My postman is yet to come today. Maybe I'll get lucky. MUAHAHA lol

hey just got an email that my order has been shipped but its giving me an estimated delivery date of 02 Sep 2009 (Subject to change). boo!! I ordered it on the 24th.

my tracking also says its coming from G3 WORLDWIDE NETHERLANDS BV. might explain the higher cost as its shipping from Holland.

I received this email @ 0630 gmt 27th August, so there is a small chance depending on who the delivery company used is I will get it tomorrow, most likely I expect Tuesday / Wednesday after the bank holiday weekend.

Where about's is it being sent to? I wouldn't be surprised if they were using a world wide network of distributors and manufacturers.

Question,

I have a August 08 white macbook
4 GB RAM
320 HD
X3100 graphics.

Is it worth me upgrading to SL?
Will i see any performance increase?

Thanks!

My UTD order (faxed in on Monday) lists the status as Backordered on apple.com's status page. WTF? Anyone else have this?

I reckon 2 million of these and 0.5 million of people bitching that theirs hasn't shipped so they might not get them tomorrow meaning their world will basically end.

I pre-ordered mine from Amazon.com with 2-Day FEDEX so I already know that I get mine Tuesday. I'm watch everybody do their upgrades so I know by the time I do mine what to expect. Patience is a virtue.

Well, 10 o'clock Thursday night, still not shipped, looks like I won't be getting it this week. Would have been easier to buy it from the shops this weekend, but I have no idea if any shops around here would stock it, the only one I could think of is maybe JB.

Mine is coming to the UK & being sent using the "G3 WORLDWIDE NETHERLANDS BV" carrier. I'd assume all Europe orders are being sent out of there. From some Google searches, it seems G3 is a partner of the Royal Mail across Europe, so I'd assume once the package arrives in the UK it will come via Royal Mail delivery.

I'm in the UK and ordered the Box Set yesterday from the UK Apple store. Just got an e-mail from Apple saying it has been dispatched today (27th) via UPS and will be with me on or before the 28th :)

I ordered mine first thing on the 24th when it just became available, but mine hasn't shipped yet. I checked the order status and it still says "delivers by August 28th", so I guess I'll wait and see. Maybe they have a shipping center right near my home? ;)

One good sign is that it states "priority" shipping, so I'm hopeful it'll ship today.

Was that the standard delivery option?

However it comes it's bound to be delayed:

- Royal Mail Strikes
- Bank Holiday on Monday
