Apple's site is definitely hosed up at the moment. Glad I got my Snow Leopard purchase in early :)

Can I ask a dumb question though, what's the point of the family pack? Because it doesn't ask for a CD-Key does it? So you can just install it as many times as you want. Or is it more on the "honor system" or something?

Honor system. Some people do take pride in only using legal software, that is, software that has been properly licensed.

Using wrongly licensed software = stealing.

Plenty of folks still have honor, they can pay a pittance more and install the OS on five household computers in full compliance with the license.

As you point out, those without honor need not pay the additional $20.

Up-to-Date still says September

Still says "Ships September" for me on my Up-to-Date order...

Rosetta support is needed for CS2 is that still included? I don't see why not, but I have not heard anything official.

So, will it be available at ADC Friday?

Earlier?

Eh? It's in the Developer Store now.

Rosetta support is needed for CS2 is that still included? I don't see why not, but I have not heard anything official.

Why am I thinking that Rosetta is an optional install? I keep being nagged in the back of my head reading this... "Rosetta is optional..." Hmm.

People seem to be saying that it delivers on 28th Aug. Are these US orders that people are talking about?

The online chat lady just told me that if I order online in the UK it will ship on 28th Aug and be delivered within 5-7 business days.

Can anyone in the UK confirm that they have ordered online and received a 28th Aug delivery date? Otherwise, may as well just go into the Apple store on Friday or Saturday - especially as its a bank holiday weekend this weekend so Monday isnt a business day for post.

Has this really been confirmed? Is the only way for clean install [to a fresh hard drive] to first install Leopard and then install SL after wiping HD after booting from the DVD?

That's what many have assumed. I don't think anyone has a definite answer. We'll find out Friday.

Build number on the final GM release is?

By the way I had the most brain dead customer service woman online from apple... Her name is Yolanda, trust me she can't distinguish her elbow from her ******.

That or she actually don't know English.

Top quality customer service seems to be failing at Apple online conversations.

If by "we" you mean "Apple" because they're giving you a 64-bit OS, streamlined, updated, and stripped of all unnecessary parts for size, speed, and RAM usage with tools for multithreading to take advantage of the newest processors for less than $50, then yes, I agree.

Hahaha, top prize for the biggest fanboy response that I've ever seen.

Not entirely sure what you mean.

The "upgrade" Snow Leopard DVD is a full installer. All it does is check that you have Leopard already installed, then you can do whatever you like - upgrade, archive and install, clean install, etc.

If you don't have Leopard already installed, you either need to buy Leopard and buy the Snow Leopard upgrader, or buy the Snow Leopard Box Set which includes iLife and whatever else it was, plus a DVD of Snow Leopard that does not require a previous install of Leopard.

Just ask for a level 2, 3, or 4 tech person, or if you have a developer account, call that number where they actually know something.

So what would you have paid?

10a432 is available at ADC.

But if 432 is not the final build when will the final be available... that's my question?

D'oh. Yes... I'd assume it's that mystery 10a435, and if it isn't, then that's the first 10.6.1 candidate.
