It's true :) I rang Apple and first they tried to tell me that iLife is on the SL DVD so there should only be 2 DVDs in the box. I then pointed out that

a) it isn't on the SL DVD
b) the box says "Contents: 3 DVDs" :)

They're now sending me a separate iLife DVD.

Good to hear your problem is resolved -- this is very un-Apple and the first time I've hear anything like this.

Just called Apple. Apparently they were just told today (a rep last night told me it would arrive today) that UTD discs are NOT guaranteed to arrive today... Instead, it will ship today and I'll get it within the next five days. Sucks that I'm leaving for college in two days and won't be home to get it...

Dispatched yesterday, didn't come with post today, maybe tomorrow, maybe Tuesday, who knows....

Still, I don't have an applestore nearby so still going to get it as quick as anyone else around here :D

Same. Apple really hasn't handled the UK launch of this very well.

Uhhm... UK postal strike?!

IF IT WAS *THAT* VITAL AND YOU NEEDED IT, YOU'D HAVE ALL CAUGHT TRAINS TO THE NEAREST APPLE STORE, AND BOUGHT IT THERE. I'M SICK OF HEARING YOU ALL WHINING LIKE SPOILED BRATS - IT'S NOT EVEN THAT IMPORTANT!!!!

Well my Mac Pro is "on the FedEx vehicle for delivery" and I'm hoping it's going to come with a copy of 10.6. I'm not putting much hope into it, but it would be kinda nice.

Do we have to order it online for the up-to-date program? or can we go to the Apple retail store and still get a copy for $9.95?

I agree. That does suck. You were just as excited as everyone else and you have every right to be disappointed by your dilemma. Try not to let people get you down.

you'll live.

That was harsh. He didn't sound like he was whining about it.

aww some of you kids are taking apple word for word eh?

When they say they ship on the 28th, they ship on the 28th. that does not mean you will get it on the 28th. you will get it after the weekend.

Apple Australia has said they've shipped it today. I just got an email from them at 9:30pm. Yeah - like us Aussies actually work that late on a Friday night??? If you read between the lines they'll have a truckload of these discs by Australia Post on Monday. Meaning you should get it 1-5 days later, depending on where you live, and depending where the discs are. They also mentioned to 'expect delivery by 7 September'. So just wait a week. And don't blame your local postal service.

lol.

I guess the rep shouldn't have told me it was guaranteed to arrive by Friday if he didn't know that for sure

Annoying, but no big deal. It'll come when it comes

The issue has nothing to do with the postal strike.

I received a LOT of post this morning (some of it posted yesterday), but NOTHING from Apple.

They chose to ship this from the Netherlands which was going to delay things more than necessary.

My biggest complaint is that they didn't let other retailers have access to stock so that they could ship it out for launch.

The Bank Holiday and Strike are out of Apple's control, but they could have mitigated that in several ways (posting sooner, posting from a sensible place, using a different courier etc.).

P.S. Catching a train to the Apple Store would be pointless as the nearest store is actually closer to my home than the train station.

I just want to confirm that the rumors started by some people that Leopard would continue working today is actually correct! :p

gw, you really need to un-subscribe yourself from this thread. You have been spouting on for over a thousand posts that you don't care. You spend quite a deal of time and energy responding for not caring. Just stop posting and move on. There are other interesting developments that you can spend your time following.
