heey, just got home and noticed an email from Apple saying my copy of SL had shipped and that I should have it by tomorrow... totally psyched for this, considering it's my first time buying a brand-new OS (well, revised in this case) on the day it's released- even if I have to deal with a few bugs at first :).

can't wait, it'll be hard going to class tomorrow knowing my order could arrive while I'm on campus... at least the local FedEx location is less than 10min away, so it wouldn't be a big deal even if I miss the courier.

I live in oz too and it said snow leopard would deliver on the 31st of Aug (Monday) as well, but it is due today and should be arriving today, as i checked up with TNT.

Let us know how the install goes

yeah my TNT Consignment Status History says on board for delivery since 8am today, although my email from Apple says delivery 31st August. hopefully it arrives today!

I am now running Snow Leopard. Haven't used it much but it feels faster. Before when I opened Safari it would open, but take a few seconds before I could use it, not now. Even the maximising effect on the Dock seems smoother. And I think some icons look different, like iCal, and the buttons in Mail also look different.

Oh, and right now it is indexing the iMac, so it's not running as fast as it normally would I wouldn't think.

Mine says the same. I'll just check it again in the morning. LOL with my luck if it ends up showing up tomorrow I'll end up being at work and miss it anyways. :( I'll get it eventually though. :)

My UTD says not shipped yet, but I called and was told it was waiting to ship and I would get it tomorrow. We'll see.

Breaking news: Apple's Steve Jobs to make announcement August 28, 2009, 10:00 a.m. The only information ascertained thus far has been from a facility technician who saw a portion of what seems to be a Keynote presentation.

"All I seen was the word 'PSYCH' in capital letters and a bunch of Apple hoity-toities laughing their asses off" said the technician, who would not provide his name and seemed to be under duress while Apple team members provided what seemed to be excessive "customer service".

i just got a shipment notification from Amazon, will be here tomorrow. Also, they automatically lowered the price to $24.99.

Hmm... I was hoping for something like this to happen, but my order still says it will arrive Sept 1.

At least zappos came through with my new shoes. :D

I just shut down the iMac in 3 and a half seconds! And it took 40 seconds to start up, me click on my account, type in my password and for the desktop to load up. And no where near the amount of spinning beach balls as programs were loading up now. Love it.

And Safari opens before it even finishes half of it's first bounce. So fast now.

Wooot got my copy of SL! Just got back from Sydney apple store a short while ago. I think I'll wait a bit until I install, when would 10.6.1 be expected to be released by apple?

anyway, there need to be enoughy using it to submit bugs.

If the disc shipments don't get to you for Saturday at the latest (UK), I can see a lot of obsessive geeks, crying into their cereal bowls... it's BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND!!.

Not in Scotland.

Any updates that Apple push out will be numbered 10.6.1, 10.6.2, etc - that's just how it's been for OS X updates, regardless of how much or how little they "fix".

Mine didn't end up being shipped until, literally, 5 minutes to midnight on the 27th (so in a way Apple wasn't lying about 'shipping by August 28'). TNT is already saying that it's in Perth awaiting to be freighted up here, which is pretty good IMO (but they're also saying the same for my external HDD that was shipped from Apple the day before :()... guess either tomorrow or Monday is my best bet for receiving it, my iPod touch randomly turned up on a Saturday once even though we have no couriers out here on weekends, that's what I get for living in the middle of nowhere :p

Hmm, I am disappointed in Spotlight. If anything it is slower than before, but if it is it's only a tiny bit, most people probably won't notice a difference. But other than that, it's awesome.

postal strikes = kiss goodbye to london delivery of SL until next week? probably...

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/2...-deliveries-and-collection-across-country.htm

"Friday will see around 4,500 postal workers participating in the strike in London, Edinburgh and New port. London will be particularly hit hard with 3,500 workers walking out across the division mail centres, Edinburgh will witness 900 drivers and mail centre workers participate in the strike.

On Saturday around 7,800 Royal Mail workers will walk out with 7,500 staff from London delivery offices participating. The strike is expected to affect deliveries in London until the following Tuesday."

It may be because they changed the default colour profile. My Adium icon seems a much more vibrant green (I'm running Leopard on my iMac G5 and Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro and never noticed a difference before.

Why do postal staff (and rail staff for that matter) only see the need to strike when it means they get a long weekend for free. Only if they strike on a Wednesday would they get my sympathy :D

Same here. The rep told me that it may have even shipped but he wouldn't know. Either way, he said I'll get it today. I leave for college on Sunday. I'm kind of banking on it being here today...

Whaaaat? This cannot be true...

It's true :) I rang Apple and first they tried to tell me that iLife is on the SL DVD so there should only be 2 DVDs in the box. I then pointed out that

a) it isn't on the SL DVD
b) the box says "Contents: 3 DVDs" :)

They're now sending me a separate iLife DVD.
