Apple Announces August 28th Availability of Snow Leopard

Pre-order Snow Leopard
Get it delivered to my work on "Launch Day" (tomorrow)
Get out of work at 5pm
Drive 10 minutes to my house
Start installing Snow Leopard at about 5:15pm
Enjoy using Snow Leopard the rest of the night

I like the second option better.

I wouldn't consider a 2 hour drive being 'close' to an Apple store so the second option is obviously the best :rolleyes:

I just received mine (in Virginia). For those worried about it, even though I received my confirmation just minutes ago, the tracking number it contained indicates that my copy of SL was actually picked up by FedEx some 13 hours ago and departed for Virginia over 11 hours ago, so I think Apple is just backlogged in getting tracking and confirmation info out.

and? I'd rather order from the comfort of my own home.Its arriving anyway tomorow, so it doesn't matter where I get it.

Plus, apple stores have way to much drama, from so called "genius" who can't fix a simple problem right away. You have to wait 3-6 hours just to fix a problem that takes what? 10 seconds to fix? oh don;t forget the kids breaking the macs and ipods.
 
So there is still hope of me receiving it today! Normally Aus Post comes around midday, so I should know in one and a half hours whether I am getting it today or not.
 
i just got a shipment notification from Amazon, will be here tomorrow. Also, they automatically lowered the price to $24.99.

Yes, I would definitely trust a person on chat that has no actual idea about your order over the inventory and shipping system. :rolleyes:
 
Mine still says not shipped yet but I called Apple who tell me it is being prepared for shipment and will arrive by tomorrow :confused: I chose standard shipping so I guess they are overnight expressing it? :confused:

Mine says the same. I'll just check it again in the morning. LOL with my luck if it ends up showing up tomorrow I'll end up being at work and miss it anyways. :( I'll get it eventually though. :)
 
I called apple and actually found out my order is delayed and I live in california. So i cancelled my order. Found out my local store is opening at 8am in the morning tommorow for the release. So ill just go get it at store.

Sounds about right - all New Zealand sales and support comes through Australia; technically a company wishing to do business in New Zealand doesn't have to have an office setup here (hence the move to centralise in Australia).
 
Damnit, the Aus Post van just drove right past my house, no Snow Leopard for me until Monday :(. People in New Zealand get it before I do, and I live in Australia. That sucks.

EDIT: The mail man delivered it! It could have been in there most of today, I should have checked. It's in a huge bag as well :p. Gonna open it and install it now :D.

I live in oz too and it said snow leopard would deliver on the 31st of Aug (Monday) as well, but it is due today and should be arriving today, as i checked up with TNT.

Let us know how the install goes
 
It said it was gonna take an hour to install o.0. I cancelled it and decided not to install Rosetta as I don't use any PPC applications. Gonna install it now and watch a movie while it's installing :p. Will post here when it's done.

EDIT: Without Rosetta it is 10-15 minutes quicker. And I didn't install Quicktime 7 either, don't think I would need it.
