There are 2k homekit cameras on the market which will give better calrity but wont use nowhere near the space of 4k. There isn’t any homekit cctv camera systems out only the smart cameras that record 10-60seconds when they detect motion so you wouldn’t be recording all day
But again, I can’t think it would make much difference if at all, seems overkill to me

Unfortunately it did not. I can set another alias as the default for sending emails, but it doesn’t allow me to set this as the default account, or disable the main one
Sorry to hear that. In that case, you might be able to create a filter/rule via iCloud Web Mail that puts all emails sent to that email address into a specific folder so that they don't appear in your inbox.

No worries, hopefully this changes with the new features

Looks more like a Wireguard VPN. Doh wouldn't encrypt network traffic.
oDoH is not DoH

And iirc was developed with Apple

Why call it plus and not just include it in regular icloud.
If theres no extra charge why plus it
It actually makes a lot of sense:

iCoud is the thing/place, and there is even free-tier access to it (5GB automatically with AppleID). "My photos are in iCloud" "do an iCloud backup" "I have an AppleID, so my iMessages are in iCloud, but I haven't signed up for iCloud+".

Now iCloud+, nomenclature which falls in line with their other subscription offerings, is the name of the subscription service. "I renewed iCloud+" "I have a VPN with iCloud+" "iCloud+ prices are going up"

So the article published the other day that was talking about how app makers were "getting around" the do not track features of iOS 14 by looking at things like IP addresses etc.... I am guessing this is why Apple didn't really react to that... It feels like this should stop that working too (without looking at the technical details of the relay and the way the app makers are getting around things it's impossible to say but it smells like it...) :)

Does Private Relay only include data from Safari, or is it all apps?
Only Safari. Works with other apps or browsers if you connect to unencrypted HTTP web sites (not HTTPS) through them.

It uses Cloudflare Warp as exit. But I have see some fastly cdn IPs as well. You can select if you want to connect servers near you or use broader location. It works with 50GB icloud plan too.

Cloudflare have servers all around world but the datacenter/country I have connected changed time to time. (US, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, Bulgaria, Romania…)
Speeds are around 40 mbps for me on 200 mbps connection which is lower than some commercial VPNs I have tried.

Warp is good but I have seen their IPs can be throttled or banned.

Private Relay is not forwarding your real IP unlike original Cloudflare Warp+ in the headers to Cloudflare enabled web sites, which is good.

I hope this is more stable than their other iCloud offerings. I still say Apple can't run a critical cloud service to save it's life......
Not sure I agree there. I use iCloud for a ton of stuff and it's generally very solid. I wish it was a bit more transparent about what it's doing (one thing Dropbox is better about) but in my experience it "just works". Now back when I tried to sync Google Calendar to my Mac and iPhone? That was a hit and miss experience.

The $10 I spent on the 2 TB tier is the best $10 I spend every month. For $120 a year, pretty much every file and photo I own is available on demand on every Apple device I have -- and my storage pool is able to be shared with my wife through our Family Plan.

I guess I understand some of the whinging about the 5GB free tier being too small to be useful, but for crying out loud, you can bump that up for literally one dollar a month.

If I understood correctly, as an apple one subscriber, I'd be able to get the iCloud+ features at no additional cost

Yeah I don't understand the complaints.
50 GB for one dollar...one dollar in a month.
If you're so broke that you can't afford to spend 1$ a month for a service, I'm afraid you have bigger problems than the lack of iCloud storage

This also makes me wish there was an option for lower tier pricing for Dropbox. I pay $100 a year for 2 tb of storage, but the reality is that I don’t need anywhere near that much storage (currently using less than 100gb).

Does this premium subscription encrypt all my browsing information from ISP?

Information extracted from ISP, requested by government, are far more dangerous than website tracking:confused::confused:

So, Safari only VPN? You can get a device wide VPN for free from ProtonVPN. What a twisted way of doing things.

First two tiers, free 5GB & 50GB one are still a joke.
50gb should be the free one and 200GB and up paid.

I don't know what people are storing up there, but 5GB is an enormous size even for free. The only way I see they should give more for free is for complete device backup so that is an extra benefit for buying an Apple product, you can backup your whole device and restore it from the cloud.

50GB is a lot, what are you people storing that much in the cloud? Thats enough for 12 HD movies or 10K pictures. If you want that much storage the $36 per year for 200GB seems quite a bargain.
