Does iOS 9 seem empty to you? It really doesn't add any value. Especially if you don't use siri.
Depends on your definition of "value".
Well, that's that I guess. A few decent additions sprinkled throughout a bunch superfluous fluff. I can multi task now by swiping between open apps. Pretty easy, IMO.

Another music service? Geeshus. We needed that, for sure.

Yawn.
Thankfully that allowed them to actually focus on fixing bugs, optimizing code, improving performance and stability, and, you know, other "small and unimportant" things like that.

I am a long time Mac user and a frequent early adopter. The split screen limitation to the iPad Air 2 frankly pisses me off. The RAM excuse is indefensible because they should have increased RAM years ago. It certainly wouldn't have cratered profitability to build something that could be future proof for several years. There is no reason my iPad Air could not have been designed to use all of the features of an updated iOS going from 7 to 9, a mere 2 years after purchase.
WWDC was a huge dud this year. It's like they went through the motions. Watch appears to have sapped their energy and resources.
Well, RAM is one part of it more than likely, but a newer and better GPU and CPU (with 3 cores) likely has quite a bit to do with it as well.

Notice how no one has mention how this is a carbon copy of microsoft's windows 8 snap/multitasking.
but if this was the other way around, you ppl will be at an uproar how everything is copying apple.

apple would file patents on edge slide to split view and start suing every one.
notice how Microsoft introduced this in 2011 and filed no patents and isn't suing no one?
Lots of generalized assumptions there about a lot of people in general lumped into a single group basically.

But its not. its a balant copy and no one is saying nothing.
check out this video.

from the edge slid to change apps.
to the 50/50, 70/30 and 30/30/30 view
to the slide from side to show app list.
to the drag and copy.

everything meticulously copied.

That's fine. How many ways would there be to do split screen multitasking on a tablet really? Just like notification center works pretty much the same way across iOS, Android, Windows Phone (not as far as what it has but how it's accessed), or how the camera is accessed from the locked screen. If someone has a patent on that particular design and feel this infringes on it then they should feel free to go after it as they see fit.

more excuses. admit it, apple copied. and if this was the other way around. you would want to burn MS/SAMMY/GOOGLE at the stake

As others have said, I don't use Windows phones or tablets, so if Apple took something that worked and will make it work on my iPad, great!

If Microsoft, or Samsung, or Google took something that Apple did and make it work for their customers, good for them too. I don't care if they copy Apple all day long and into the night too, why would I? I mean, other than the fact that I want all tech companies to innovate and try new things. But let's face it, no company can afford to do something totally new every time. Some stuff just works well and becomes the standard.

I'll never understand the "my chosen company is better than yours" mentality. Apple is better for me and what I choose to do. Samsung/Google/LG/HTC/Microsoft/Nokia is better for others.

This article explains my thoughts exactly.

and yet you see tim cook at "Apple's earnings call this week that the rest of the tech industry is drafting off Apple's innovations and failing to "invent their own stuff." Apple, he said, cannot "become the developer for the world."

Lies and deception
They all pick up things from everyone over time, and they all say they all innovate and others get thing from them. So what's new or surprising about any of it, especially at this point?

because the only one who copies and swears they are the only innovators is apple.
they are the ones who attempts to patent everything, including competitors known tech.
guess who filed a patent for face unlocking 2 months ago? thats right apple.
a feature that has already existed on phones for years.

secondly, its posts like these (one month ago).
Everything is considered junk when its not from apple. but when apple finally does it.
its amazing, even though its a carbon copy of what you just called junk a month ago.

I don't know where you got five years from. Five years ago tablets (as we know them know) just barely existed. Even today it's not like the competing split-screen options are setting the world on fire. They range from mediocre (Windows) to horrible (Samsung). I don't know what Apple will accomplish, but it's hard think of them as behind when the current implementations are mostly junk.

Just because there are people saying this or that about something, doesn't mean it's some sort of a generalized thing. There will always be people doing something like that, doesn't mean that everyone or even most do that or care about it.

Oh, and you probably eat animal products, right?

Eating meat is a total different discussion!

Cheers

BTW awating Tim Cooks reply on my e-mail about this issue!

I'm a far cry from a techie, but when the iPad Air 2 came out with 2 gigs of RAM, I just new splitscreen was coming - so it's no shock that it will be the only older model that will support it. Maybe I am oversimplifying it but like I said, I'm not a techie. I was planning on upgrading from my iPad 3 to an Air 3 and this clinches. I am happy with the coming updates. I just hope the Mini 4 will have 2 gigs of RAM.

.....or care about more battery life, or better notes app or better performance, or more security, or.............

So yeah doesn't really seem to be worth the money to update to me....oh wait. how much did they say it would be anyway?

Have an app to take notes. Have a 6+ so no issues with battery power. Everyone gets free upgrades. Pretty much the standard. Don't oversell it. It's pretty lackluster. Except for them being ground breaking and putting music on the Internet.

Where all the freedom loving, privacy advocates who complained about google going through your email now?

The company isn't digging through my phone, advertisers aren't digging through my phone - my phone is digging through my phone. To make it do more stuff for me.

...Don't see how that's any more of a privacy problem than spell check going through my document :p

  • Original iPad Air from just 1 year ago already doesn't support multitasking?
  • iPhone 4S supports iOS 9: will it be faster than iOS 8? I find that hard to believe, but then what's the point?
As an iPad Air user, I am disappointed to have been excluded to this feature!!!!!!! As a basic feature that this is (Non IOS devices) this feature could have been extended to iPad Air users....

Like a functional backup and restore or do not disturb preferences that make any sense. Or a unified message app.
Agh the unified message app.... That was one awesome implementation! Though if you ever left apple, what a cluster **** ! I don't know if iMessage works these days, but it was a total mess for years and i refuse to turn it on again.

It's pretty easy to disentangle yourself now; I love iMessage personally, particularly at work where the cell signal is basically non-existent but we have a wireless network. Without iMessage, I'd never get text messages there.

Microsoft copied Mission control in Windows 10… We're at the point where everyone is copying everyone anyway.
