Completely agree. OMT for iPhone, awesome. OMT for that streaming crap I don't care about, boring.
Again: are people not aware of the uses of "one more thing" in the past?

So is Passbook really going to be renamed "wallet"? Sounds a little... google.. to me.

Summery:
  • OS X.
    • Bug patrol. Unclear what was fixed.
    • Features announced like they are new: natural language search.
    • Freeware theft: arrange windows, cursor location.
    • Demo that cannot be easily compared to an existing game.
  • iOS 9.
    • Fixing big issues with Siri and search by modifying the UI.
    • Alienate developers by flat out stealing ideas and embedding them in stock apps, Day One, any RSS or New Reader.
    • Improve Maps for NY.
  • Apple Pay.
    • Apple Pay works slightly more often.
    • Rename App.
  • iPad.
    • Add multitasking feature that doesn't work with my new iPhone or iPad.
    • Improved CarPlay feature that doesn't work with my new car.
  • Swift 2.
    • Lure over all those AAA Linux games that never make it to the Mac.
  • watchOS:
    • New watch faces that can't easily be distinguished from watchOS 1.
    • Interactive Calendar.
    • More new How-To's for Mac Rumors: reply to email, bedside alarm clock, send scribbled messages in multiple colors, video on.
  • Apple Music.
    • Beats me.

Steps in updating once iOS 9 is released OTA in a very low storage space:

Settings>General>Software Update>iOS 9.0 1.3GB>"Needs 1.5GB free of storage">Usage>Delete "App A">General>Software Update>iOS 9.0 1.3GB>"Needs 1.5GB free of storage">Usage>Delete "App B">General>Software Update>iOS 9.0 1.3GB>"Needs 1.5GB free of storage">Usage>Delete "App C">General>Software Update>iOS 9.0 1.3GB>"Needs 1.5GB free of storage">Usage>Delete "App D">General>Software Update>iOS 9.0 1.3GB>Download and Install>Downloading>Preparing for Update>Verifying Update>Server Error>Install>Verifying Update>Installing>Updated>Reboot

Why is split view only available for iPad Air 2. Surely my iPad Air can handle this...I cannot think of why Apple would do this other than to try and spur new iPad sales. Not really cool to owners of the not so old original iPad Air

The amount of RAM available.

Also, what is it with all the downers on this forum? There aren't loads of new features, because the OS focuses on optimisation and stability. Which is what half of this forum moaned iOS 8 lacked!?

And some people will rationalize and defend everything Apple does, no matter what. There were a few interesting things revealed today, but nothing earth shattering or dare I say magical.
Based on what was presented I haven't formed an opinion yet. If performance and stability is improved in iOS 9 (over what 8 current has) then I would be delighted. I've got 2 iPads running iOS 8 that are on life support (iPad 2 and 4) because of iOS 8.

It seems pretty obvious that the conference was supposed to be about the Apple TV. Just don't quite understand what happened. Sure, licensing gets held up, but how can the hardware not be ready when the hardware is simply an A8 chip? And what about the app store for the TV?

Here's something I don't understand with this Proactive feature. If everything is local to the device how does the feature continuously improve? Only once a year when Apple announces a new OS? Or in a point release? I think Apple could do a lot of this learning in the cloud without sacrificing privacy.

Why spill some of the beans now when Apple can just wait without penalty?

Gives them something "new" to talk about instead of just iPhone/iPad updates at the end of the year. This pleases investors.

A lot of them are Apple haters(android/PC users) who just want to troll Apple users.

I added headers for you.

Again: are people not aware of the uses of "one more thing" in the past?

Introduced something new:
Introduced someone to introduce someone to introduce someone that likes music.

Go tell someone who owns an iPhone or iPod that didn't follow the keynote that Apple introduced Apple Music and tell me what they think that means. I saw the keynote and I can't tell you what that means.

Or was that your point?

People need to quit whining about "one more thing". Everyone holds it in far higher regard that it actually is worth.

One more thing! Wireless updates! Woo hoo!

I have found lately that it's hard to find a good Apple community that isn't full of negativity. I think that part of it is due to the fact that Apple has become more popular and ubiquitous, and thus the tightknit fan community of the past is being drowned out by casual naysayers. Why anyone would have seriously negative feelings about this WWDC is beyond me; everything looked great and Metal for OSX appears to me to be the fix that a lot of people complaining of "UI lag" were looking for.

Split screen multitasking on the iPad is "meh" now? Some people are just never going to be pleased, I guess. I'm excited about Fall, personally.

And it wouldn't please investors today? Nah, the art work almost certainly indicated much to do about the Apple TV, and something last minute caused a big change in plans.

Agreed on all of this. Back in the day, people loved Macs because they were different. Now it's about how many features you can stuff into an OS and which one is better.

I think iPad multitasking is fantastic, even though I can't get it.

meanwhile, the iPod has been removed from the main bar on apples website

These updates look quite good. I am usually not too excited for software updates, but I am about this one. I'm also very interested in the new News app. I'm a news junkie, so this good be awesome for me.

I'm not whining. Every time they used it in the past you walked away saying Apple introduced X that can do Y, but I can't tell you what X or Y is this time. They introduced Apple Music, which they already had and it plays radio stations which it already did. People that say its "like Spotify but by Apple" must have missed that this was the Developers Conference, which Spotify is part of.

What exactly did they demo that no one else but Apple could do?

Because the iPad Air 2 has sufficient RAM to support multitasking and a faster processor vs the Air 1.

Likely with OS updates. Same issue with you using two (or more) iOS devices not having a unified Proactive experience will be jarring.

What exactly did they demo that no one else but Apple could do?
Frankly? That they can install a default music service app on tens of millions of devices. And likely get a substantial amount of said users of those devices to pay for the service as well.
