Then again, this might be me telling myself all this because I'm really wanting a MacBook Air. :\

I made a similar tradeoff when I bought my 11" air few months ago... Certainly not regretting it either!

Get an air, they're lovely machines :)

Yikes! Do people never learn from history? I don't care which company it is.

Well I hope I don't lose my shirt, but it's a fact. All my friends and family warn me all the time too, like they are waiting to tell me "I told you so". So that's a bit difficult for me, but I keep my chin up and have my StocTrac Pro with push alarms running daily, and I come here daily, and watch CNBC daily, watching the market.

It's a game of chicken with greed!

What do you think I should do? What investment is better than AAPL? Farmland? Maybe. I just want to maximize it. But yeah, I don't want to lose my shirt! Any advice?

(I do believe everything is going to crash in the next 5 or 10 years, but for now the market is crashing upwards. QE II assures for me that any equities investment is going to go sky high right now, but how long can this game of musical chairs last is a question I ask myself every morning at 8:30 AM).

Meh... I don't own an iPad, iPhone or laptop for that matter so I'm basically just a desktop whiner. I'll wait for the iPad that runs full version OS XI... what do you think... late 2012?

I forgot... how does NOT having a USB port help the user?

I think you can get a little white doodad thingy dock connector cord with a USB socket on it if you want USB or memory cards plugged into your iOS device. Not as elegant - it disrupts the clean lines, and you have to carry this crap around with you to plug into your device which I avoid, but you can do it.

For me, it is satisfactory update.

Thinner.
Faster
Support all apps
Same hours of fun and entertainment
1080p for my ppt presentation << it's best!

I hope for an anti-reflective glass...but hey, i'm in office most of the time:rolleyes:

Can I Transfer My ATT 3G Unlimited to The 2G?

I actually asked a local ATT store rep. some months ago about this and he said no. But I'm wondering if my 3G account is really device dependent?

No rear faceing photos?

OMG, IS the thing is NOT even able to take rear facing photos!?

The camera is going to be so crap, it'll blow your mind!

I returned the iPod Touch I bought this September after taking 2 photos with it, "I was like..EWWW, You've got to be joking?!". If we were to have seen still photos taken with that camera today It would have been laughable.

Do you really need that explained to you?

You really don't know why they took 5 more months to provide that update for the ORIGINAL iPad?

It has been discussed and gone over quite a lot really, so I think a little research on your part would enlighten you.

Suffice it to say you concerns are invalid once you learn why it happened previously, and why it won't happen again.

I know all of the reasons stated on this forum as to why people think it took 5 months. And all of it is just the Apple Apologists making excuses.

iPhone 4, iPad, and iPod touch 4G all run the same internal hardware with minor differences here and there.

With all of the built-in apps already rewritten for the larger screen, and iOS 4 being announced about 2 and a half months before the iPhone 4's release, it should have been a simple matter of taking already written code and debugging things here and there. It should have been out no later than the 4.1 update.

In fact, since Jobs said it took 18 months to develop the iPhone 4, putting it in development a full year before the iPad, theres no reason other than stupid extreme secrecy for not having a team working on iOS 4 for iPad to be launched same day as the iPhone and iPod versions.

But as I've said before, Apple clearly puts profit margins well ahead of any other priority, and iPad was designed more in line with the third generation devices.

ipad 2 is pretty cool but i really wanted larger capacity, not planning to upgrade this time. :)

How to get photos on iPad from iPhone?

So the camera on the back WILL NOT TAKE PHOTOS? because it is not good enough.

And can you even transfer photos from the iPhone to it??

or do you have to:
1) take photos on your iPhone
2) import to iPhoto on a computer
3) export them to a Finder folder
4) import the folder to iTunes to load on the iPad

Are you sure the pic quality is going to be so bad ?

re: Are you sure the pic quality is going to be so bad ?

There is NO pic quality!
Practically the same camera as the crappy iPod Touch Camera, but it would look so crap on the bigger screen

Perhaps MBA + Lion (when it's released) could fit your needs. Light, very portable, bigger capacity, no syncing needed, built-in keyboard. Heck, it even does Flash.

Yeah, okay, that was half-sarcastic. But only half.

A nice incremental improvement. I'm sure my company will be getting a number of these to test our application against. We've done a lot of work with iOS 4.3 already, to get some of the new AirPlay features integrated into our product.

My original iPad 3G will suffice for now, but I am particularly impressed with the new case design. The other stuff, while nice, is very expected. Dual core was a bit of a shock, though.

I think I would consider an iPad upgrade when they include a Retina display.

Some people takes really serious and personal if some features didn't make it to the iPad. Some reaaaaally wanted Retina Display, some wanted 8 MP cameras front and back, some wanted usb and sd ports, some wanted 3D screen, some wanted Apple to give them one for free, money and an apology letter hand-written by Steve Jobs. Well, I have the solution to all your problems:

IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE IPAD 2... DON'T BUY IT!!!!!! :)

Fortunately, there are a lot of reaaaally advanced, successful and clever options out there for your professional requirements, I, in the meantime, will buy an iPad 2 as soon as it is available and I'll be a happy costumer as usual with Apple.

(And as usual, this will be the most successful "pad")

I tend to agree, although i was wondering why making clothes for the theatre or the movies , would make you happy? Why not, i guess!
:D

what an abysmal presentation day for apple. you really get the sense that they don't know what to do now. it's still been years since they brought anything new to the table.

So tell me what have other competing companies brought "new" and innovative in the last 5 years?

Microsoft as a whole has been playing catch-up ever since the iPod came out. Zune? Windows Phones? KIN?! XBOX?! Not one original product there. Not one. You can argue that Surface is innovative... but when you break it down, it is really just a large iPad.

Who else? Motorola? The XOOM is literally an iPad 2. They have essentially the exact same specs give or take. You mean to tell me those couple mega pixels make or break a device? How exactly is the Xoom innovative?

Who else? Samsung? They have not innovated in pretty much EVER. They are a company that thrives on making cheaper alternatives to the popular products out there.

Seriously, besides Google, who once again really hasn't "innovated" recently, who else "brings it" like Apple?

Just because they did not blow you away or innovate (yet, once again) this time around means nothing. The iPad is alive and well and will do great despite your condescending bellyaching and internet trolling.

Carry on, little one.

Coverflow

Does the iPad have coverflow yet?

I don't think it does. It seems like the PERFECT DEVICE FOR COVERFLOW?!
but as far as I know; IT WILL NOT RUN IT?

Jiminy Cricket!
Get the F with IT Apple!

Use the USB camera adapter and plug the iPhone in. It will be recognized as a camera and let you import directly to the iPad.

What do you think I should do? What investment is better than AAPL?

I like AAPL. But...

What the mathematics of portfolio theory say is that putting all your eggs in even the best investment is not the best overall gamble... even with just normal beta statistical volatility, much less the possibility of "black swan" events.

During the Loma Prieta earthquake, I saw big waves (Rayleigh S-waves), as the street pavement rippled visibly up and down...

...in the main road right in front of where Apple intends to build their new HQ buildings. And that wasn't the expected "Big One".

So the camera on the back WILL NOT TAKE PHOTOS? because it is not good enough.

Where did you hear that? Apples website lists it as a Video and a Still Camera. Considering a 720p video camera is capable of 5 megapixels as a still camera, that's not too bad.
