The new colors look lovely and the vertical camera bump looks better.

I might be in the minority but this is a decent update for the base model. 8GB of ram, much faster chip and the new action button and capture button can be useful.

Nothing groundbreaking but decent enough.

Also these are the last iPhones of this form factor. iPhone 17 base models will likely have a big change.

Tech is matured for the iPhone. People need to be patient and wait for reality to catch up to their forum wants.
I respectfully disagree.

The likes of Samsung and Google have models that are taking exciting risks and adding exciting features. Apple is taking it painfully slow. Foldables, just as one example, have been released for over 5 years, now. I miss the risks, I miss the exciting features, and I miss excitement. Colors and slightly better cameras just aren't enticing me any longer.

I used to upgrade my iPhone, most regularly, for new and exciting features.
Now, I upgrade my iPhones when my battery starts to degrade.

Just my $0.02

What are some other examples? Foldables are the only thing I've seen that is different, hardware wise, with Samsung or Google. The rest in in software.

I'm not excited about anything coming out of the Android and Apple side lately.

I suppose I am just looking for more out-of-box ideas.
A folding phone definitely falls under that category.

The iPhone 15 Pro seems, well, not much different from the iPhone 13 Pro in terms of hardware, cameras, battery life, and colors. May be a bit faster for those that use demanding apps, but it would be nice to see more risks, ideas, and implementations (even software features like removing an object from a photo, was just natively released today!).

I understand that Moore's Law had to catch-up/deplete, and we are kinda there, and things aren't exciting for this reason, and cellular data connections have matured so much that nobody really needs "more speed."

I would just like to see them make this exciting again.
It seems from the many comments I've read, that I'm not alone.

I actually like the look and would be tempted to upgrade from my 14Pro, but the 60 Hz are a hard no-go for me. Don’t understand why they’re not including at least a 90 Hz display 😭

I hope to be proven wrong but I think the camera button will be less used than it's been hyped up to be, just as the action button was and then everyone forgot about it. Most people take pictures in portrait mode, and the capture button seems to be at a bad position for taking pictures that way. If you hold the phone in landscape then your thumb already rests where the software capture button is. Hopefully will force people to shoot video in landscape.
Even for horizontal, the shutter button is far from the right side which is quite difficult to use. If it replaces uSIM slot, then it's def inconvenient.

Agreed.

Appreciate not everyone will care about 60Hz but when Google have ‘up to’ 90Hz on the Pixel 7a which I could buy for £349 (for example) it gets harder to justify IMHO.

By branding and buying loyalty. Also the ecosystem is the biggest reason why people stay with Apple.
But branding and loyalty is something they need to keep. It’s not something you get and can keep without effort. And I’d say the ecosystem is not a big reason since the majority of iPhone users (or close to it) don’t even have another Apple product.

Exactly this.

I understand that the average user doesn’t give a damn about a high-refresh display, but it’s 2024 and every freaking cheap android smartphone boosts a 120hz display. I’m going to remain on my iPhone 14 Pro or maybe even switch to the Pixel 9 Pro.

I guffawed at the marketing ploy "It's so powerful we skipped the number 17".
I mean they really think we're that superficial ?

Also Tim yelling at the camera, like we need new earing aids in the form of un-upgraded Airpods Pro/Max.

At least the colors are attractive.

Also oooO same Ultra 2 but black. Lots of "we didn't upgrade that one".

The rumors about the new colors were so very very wrong. They listed the general colors right, but the hues in the photos of them were off by a mile.
