Apple Announces iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus With Action Button, Camera Control, and More

I was about to ask that. Is this any better than my 6S?
the processor is about 10x faster, if that matters. i just keep the USB-C adapter on the end of my wired headphones.

if it ever comes back, and it won't, it would be on the pro model only to differentiate them

West Side Story - I want to live in America - iPhone 16 edition:
iPhone sixteen
Another year of waiting
Always the prices rising
Always the chip overheating
And the screen size growing
And the display lagging
And the jelly scrolling
I like the iPhone seventeen
First rumors sound very promising!

Give me an option to buy a mini version!! I absolutely do NOT want something that large in my pocket. While you're at it, go ahead and make it thicker so it can hold a larger battery and the edges can be rounded like the original and I'd be extra happy. You know, make something comfortable to hold and use and small enough to carry around.

You'll be waiting an eternity for that, I can guarantee you that.

I'm downgrading from the 15 Pro Max to the 16 Plus. It has everything I need at a lower price point. I don't do professional photography, so I have all that tech for nothing, and I never go over 100 gb storage. I'll miss the 5x telephoto and always on display, but I'm okay with both. Also, I love the colors -- blue or teal for me.
Why wouldn't you just keep your 15 Pro Max?

Not to sound so negative, but these Apple Events get less and less exciting every year. I wish something new and exciting would happen like it used to be.
The problem is, they are doing these every year. They used to do big releases when something big and new was invented, and it only happened every few years. Now changes are incremental so each update doesn't seem like a big deal. Eg, look at the Macs. New designs every 5-8 years. Yeah, processor improvements and feature spec bumps along the way, but those are all minor changes. Then once in a while bam, something completely different to get excited about, although it's really just another incremental change.

With the phones though, they don't keep anything the same year over year, so even a case design change isn't considered a striking difference.

Seriously where is the pro and max? I don’t even see an article that it will be announced later at least not on the main page.

Released 30 minutes later, just a few minutes before your post.
I’m sure that MR has a lot of articles to write and post in a short period of time.

I don't disagree! That is extremely true - since releasing new models annually leaves less time to pass on more-impressive features year-to-year.

Although, I would argue that the differences between, say, the iPhone 13 and now the iPhone 16, aren't all that different either. I just wish they'd take more risks and have more "courage" as they say.

I don’t know your thoughts (or anyone else’s) but I have always felt generally underwhelmed by the 5x zoom on 15PM - even in good lighting.

I'm trying to justify upgrading from my iPhone 13. But I have to say the 16 is not super compelling.

No L5 GPS
60 Hz display
Still USB2, USB-C and Display Port is a big plus though

The camera improvements are nice though. Macro photography is really bad on my 13.

They really need to stop these pointless yearly updates. Save it for every three years, maybe two if something _truly_ special is added. Same with OSes and just about everything else. Tap the brakes on this relentless march to incremental meaninglessness.
They could have a release every week, who cares, no one is forced to update yearly

No thanks. I love my WIFI 4 and Iphone 14 Pro - I like non chat GPT siri. Crazy that the Airpods cost about as much as what I paid for my airpods pro 2 years ago.

I think by the time they actually release All the useful features of AI the 17 may be almost ready.

Was anyone else worried about the Apple people in SFO? That is a dangerous city and when not dangerous you need to be near the ocean to escape the piss and needles.

Looking forward to upgrading my 13 to a regular 16! Nothing super exciting, but I'll gladly take the camera updates and the ability to use Apple Intelligence seems handy as more features roll out. No complaints.
