¿¿¿ Still Not Mms ?????

¡¡¡¡¿¿¿¿¿ STILL NOT MMS ?????!!!!!

· NO MMS MULTIMEDIA MESSAGING (you can´t attach pictures or videos to sms messages so if you are outside USA you can´t send pictures to your contacts)

· NO VIDEO RECORDING!!! OH MY GOD STEVE DO YOU LIVE IN WONDERLAND??
· NO REPLACEBLE BATTERY
· NO VIDEO CALLING
· LOCATING YOUR CONTACTS THROUGH GPS?? I DON'T WANT ANYBODY TO LOCALIZE ME!! I LOVE MY PRIVACY

SO WHAT HAS CHANGED???? NOW WE CAN BUY QUICKER THROUGH 3G?? THEY ONLY WANT TO STEAL US!!!

THE NEW IPHNE ONLY USES 3G TO MAKE ITUNES TRANSACTIONS FASTER TO SELL THE NEW PROGRAMS.

YOU ARE ALL BLIND, IT IS THE SAME DEVICE BUT NOW MORE "SELLING CAPABLE"

This seems to now have been trimmed to just the o2 and Carphone warehouse websites. Maybe this will change?....

Until O2 get off their asses and release their tariffs the CPW won't be able to do anything either. OTOH it is evening here so maybe tomorrow.

Should be able to buy online on the O2 web store though.. can't see why not.

I'm curious about this as well. With the Leopard pre-order, my DVD arrvied at my door several hours before it went on sale with long lines and craziness at the Apple store. If this were going to be the case, I'd certainly do it again. OTOH, if it doesn't ship until the release day, I can't really see doing it.

so its seems just like getting any brand new phone (8gb nokia n95 say) you can sign to a contract with 02/att or who ever, get the iphone for $199/€199 ORyou can get the iphone unlocked/sim free for the "real" price. so probably $599/€599 but you dont get to avail of a tailor made iphone tarrif, that gives you better data transfer rates.

Ugh. I work at night so I won't be able to stay in line...was everyone able to get the original iPhone on launch day or was there a shortage?

First Order Of Business For All You Early Adopters:

Invest In A Good Hard Case For Your Phone.

With Plastic, One Drop And It's All Over!!

But With It Being So Cheap You Could Just Go Out And Buy Yourself A New One! Lol

Unfreakinbelievable What Apple Did Today. Just Unfreakinbelievable.
do you Always Capitalize The First Letter Of Your Sentences?

If the 3G is anything like EVERY OTHER phone ive owned, it'll just bounce... I love my 1st gen but after 8 months of use the aluminum back is showing the abuse... its like the macbooks vs macbook pros - the MBP's look nicer but one ding and the look is ruined

Well they got me again.

I'll probably get one the first day.

It's going to be a riot.

Realtime gps tracking?

Going to need my first car mount in that case. (they could have thrown in a radar detector :D )

The camera stuff

Yeah, gotta agree with rickster....I've waited a year to see iPhone 2, and to have a worse camera (I've used it) than my Sony Eriksson's 3.2 Megapixel, and no MMS which I kinda have fun using everyday....is well on such a high end phone, ridiculous.

I was reading an excerpt from Apple that was posted on another website, it stated:

iPhone 3G will be available in the US on July 11 for a suggested retail
price of $199 (US) for the 8GB model and $299 (US) for the 16GB model in
both Apple and AT&T's retail stores and requires a new two year contract
with AT&T for qualifying customers. iPhone 2.0 software will be available
on July 11 as a free software update via iTunes(R) 7.7 or later for all
iPhone customers. For further information about iPhone 3G pricing and
availability in the US and internationally, visit
http://www.apple.com/iphone.

I do believe the 199 is with a "NEW" account activation subsidie... meaning, if you already have an IPhone, you'll be paying more...

Hopefully I'm wrong..

It appears to have only a 2M camera and doesn't seem to have a video camera of any sort (front or rear facing). One of the great things about 3g phones is the ability to video call. Do we know if it has voice activated dialing?

I must admit to be being slightly ... disappointed.

It looks like iPhone 2.0 could just be iPhone 1.0 with 3g and GPS, but not with the various features that would make it on par with my Nokia.

Am I wrong?

Video Chat is coming in the next rev of the phone, I can almost guarantee it. They have to save something for us fanboys to keeping upgrading when the new versions come out now don't they?! Same thing/reason for the people asking about a higher megapixel camera, 32GB, product RED, etc. I'm sure all on the timetable to hook new users and to get us to upgrade.

You know, how do you plan to use that feature with 95+% of the cellphone users out there, who do not have a phone capable of video-chitchatting? Besides, it's not at all practical. Could be nice at times but in reality video-powered calling is overrated. Just use a computer if you really want to see your loved ones while talking over a distance.

I say it's not prime time for mobile video-conferencing, yet. At least when we exclude Japan as the tech-crazy feature-leader in Asia.

Is that like the email thing? Just because other phones don't have it doesn't mean it shouldn't be included.

Did anyone notice??

Did anyone notice that the UK iPhone page has had a second update today?

I looked immediately after the announcement and the page had been updated with iPhone 3G information. The page included links to the O2 and CPW online stores. There was also a link to 'Buy' the iPhone 3G at the AppleStore. The O2 and CPW links took you to their respective iPhone (original) pages. The AppleStore link just reloaded the page you were on.

The UK iPhone 3G page now lists no online sources for the iPhone 3G. They only provide links to find your nearest O2 and CPW outlet.

I'm worried that this indicates the end of contract free purchasing. Are we now going to be forced into signing the contract in the shop prior to getting hold of the iPhone 3G? Am I paranoid? Could it simply be that the online store links have been removed until the iPhone 3G is available?

I'm not sure if Zibri can make ZiPhone magic an iPhone 3G out of thin air.... yet!

I need reassuring

If it's like last years release (which I assume it will be) just show up 2~3 hours after 6:00PM (Launch time) and walk right up. I showed up at around 7:30PM and was out the door 20 minutes later. This was at Tysons Corner which is know to be one of the busiest mac stores in the country.

Last year they may have over guessed the demand (due to the price...evident from the extreme drop in 1 year). I would bet that they like being able to continue to sell them and not run out though. We'll see indeed.

Apple essentially catered to the larger pool of consumers.

He gave way to the fact that XX% of people surveyed who wanted the iPhone were deterred by PRICE not features. The people seeking the features that everyone hoped for are likely already iPhone owners, no?

Like any tech company, how can we really expect them to jump from A to Z in year one to two. They went from A to B and we can now look forward to C in a year or so.

iPhone is going to be a long lived device with more than likely yearly updates, upgrades. Look how many revamps it took for the blackberry to get to where it is today.

All looks very exciting.

Only downsides are lack of MMS and no 32Gb version.

the mms problem has already been tackled. I now email my pics to my friends text address. (phonenumber@mms.att.net) and he gets it as a text message. I'm sure most of you know this already.

Apple stock is down so others think that as well

Well, if you track any major news from Apple, it is widely known that when new releases come out people "sell the news" when it comes to the stock price. The price of upcoming events has already been priced in so now that the actual catalyst has been announced people start to sell. Apple has had an amazing run from 120-almost 190 last week and some people are taking profits. The new catalyst will now be the fact that more and more people will be able to buy iPhones and a greater market will now be reached. If there was any time to start making a position in Apple it would be when it is down like this, because it will start to go up again.

I think I'll encase mine (my v.1 iphone, that is...screw this technical rip-off that Steven introduced today!!) in precious stones or somethin'....that way, at least I'll still have a relatively unique phone that (deep breathe) EVERYBODY IN THE FREAKIN' WORLD DOESN'T OWN AS WELL!!!!

Do you ever stop whining about "commoners" having a piece of technology that you think should be reserved for "your class"? I see you in all these iPhone topics complaining about the iPhone receiving a price reduction. I've said it before, and I'll say it now: if you rely on a cell phone for your self-worth and value, then you are w-e-a-k.

Are you a teenage girl? I can't help but ask. If you're not technically a teenager, you sure have the mind of one.
