I don't get the fascination to swap batteries out.

1) You'd need to be carrying them around to be able to switch them out in a jam.
2) Why on earth do you need to swap the battery in the first place, the phone only came out 5 months ago!?
3) Wouldn't carrying a charger weigh just as much and be less of a hassle to just plug it than switching out a battery?
4) Isn't that just more money you pay for extra batteries?

These are all serious questions and being that you seem to be enamored with the "feature" I'd love for you to explain this to me. Personally, I'm not a fan of devices you can just pop the back off of....because once you do, it never feels as sturdy (felt this way about my N7)

I have the cradle dock battery charger. I have 2 batteries. I NEVER plug my phone in to charge it. I put a battery in the charger and when my battery gets low I pop the battery out and swap them. Its awesome. My wife has to run to a charger and sit there to talk on her phone, I just swap my battery. If we go somewhere and I need more juice, take the extra battery with me. Don't have to worry about damaging my phone when plugging it in ever because I don't have to plug it in. Battery goes bad? Get a new one. Hate that bout the iphone. Battery goes bad, get a new phone. Lame. Hell thats just the battery. How about the 64gb SD card I have all my music and pictures on that plugs right in? The 4.8" screen makes my wifes iphone look like a joke. Super easy to read. Now I still love apple and I would get this phone in a minute if the S3 did not exist but the S3 is just so much a better phone it isn't even funny.

notice this too on the Canadian site

Apple Ipad "starting at "

clicking through to the ipad store, the cheapest is the ipad2 at 419

did apple throw up a graphic early? perhaps hits at the 7"

refurbished ones probably

I missed the key note but from the pic at the start of the article the screen is bigger but the form factor is the same as the current 4s?

Is A6 ARM A15? Is it dual or quad core?

Anand said the A6 is based off an ARM dual core A15. It's going to scream. I'm surprised they were able to pull it off. Anand didn't think it was going to happen. Judging off of his live coverage of the event he is excited about the A6.

Guys I know I am a newbie but I asked some very intelligent and I think important questions about the new iPhone 5 specs.

I hope someone will answer because this is the one place where guys on the forum really know about hardware.

Please refer to my previous posts...

Please help. Thank you.

So what's going on with the different 'coating' on the black one's aluminum vs. the white? Can anyone explain that to me?

why do 3 clicks/taps for the sake of one... until you've lived with the S2/3 and done it then you won't understand... another big thing you don't realise is a biggy, that I have to confess is a pain until you live with the phone is the back button

I understand that I've probably only ever sent a photo through text/email anyway. I'm sorry you have to use 3 clicks to upload your photo to instagram and put a snazzy filter on it.

I dunno. I was 99% ready to preorder. I'm eligible for an upgrade even though I have a 4S, but I'm disappointed. Not in the actual phone, but the related costs it will have. I'll need a new case and screen cover, a couple adaptors, and I'll be out an additional $100-200. Plus, the adaptors are not iPod Out. I won't be able to use this new iPhone in my car until my car manufacturer (BMW) builds a new adaptor, which could be many months. I feel deflated now.

Your Beamer doesn't have bluetooth

I actually really like it. I love the look of the back of the phone, The black bumper looks really sharp, i like the thinness... it actually looks like a well built phone. Not a fan of the plastic phones out there. As far as screen size, I don't want a much bigger screen... I have an iPad for that.

I agree. The main reason people are disappointed is because they already knew what was coming after a few weeks (or months) of rumours.

When it comes to creativity, didn't apple create the smartphone that EVERY major phone company wants to imitate? How about the iPad?

Also, what else did you want? a teardrop design? Maybe it's impossible because the internals won't fit. How about a see-through phone like in the pictures? Oh yeah, they should have done that.

There's only so much Apple can do to improve their devices. I'm not saying its the best they could do, but they optimised the device and pleased those who wanted a bigger screen. It's not a giant leap from 1st gen iphone to 3G, or from 3GS to 4, but its still more than an internals upgrade.

Looks boring - sales of the S3 probably just got a bump.

NFC, card slot, more storage, 3D, haptic feedback, augmented reality, lots.

NFC? Where exactly are you going to use it?

Card slot? Really?

More Storage? 64GB not enough for you?

3D? Sure thing. The 3DS is a real barn burner for sales.

Haptic Feedback? No thanks, I prefer better battery life. I have a One X and its disabled for a reason.

Augmented Reality? Yes, because this is a revolution. I am sure Nokia is going to light up sales with this feature.

not if you just "switch device" on your verizon online account. At least i know vz doesn't idk about att

Okay thanks. It's going to cost me about 450 to upgrade to keep my unlimited.... 650+49 for taxes-250 selling my 32 GB iPhone 4. Decisions decisions...

While I think the 4S is better looking I think the new device will be nicer to use thanks to the 4" screen.

Request to macrumors - could weights and sizes also be given in English units not just grams and millimetres? - I find it easier to think in inches and ounces/pounds. Thanks.

So now I'm thinking about the fact that my wife & I still have unlimited data originally offered by AT&T... will I get to keep that when I renew my contract for the subsidized price?

Believe the answer to that is basically "no". especially if you want the LTE.

You mean there is no invisible force field and no holo-proyector in the iPhone 5? Then I'm not buying it!!!

Sincerely, what was people waiting, a plane-phone or something like that?

Your Beamer doesn't have bluetooth

Bluetooth is an awesome easy way of doing it

But, it's not the best way of doign it.

multiple reasons

1. Charge your device while driving instead of wasting battery.
2. more detailed song and device information relayed to the device, including and not limited to song, album, band, current song position.
3. more robust controls. Bluetooth is generally only able to do your basic forward, backwards, pause / play commands. You cannot usually do album and song browsing, playlist navigation, voice control of media playback.
4. Abilirty to use additional iphone/ipod functionlaity, such as playlist, navigate song lists, "play more like this" and other additional features.

My car has one of those fancy new "qnx" based systems. it handles bluetooth fine, but using a plugged in ipod brings so many additional features that for longer drives is nice.
