Is there any updates on the GPS-side of things? Better reception, new chips or whatever? Must have happened some things on 7-8 month on that side as well?

NFC? Where exactly are you going to use it?

Card slot? Really?

More Storage? 64GB not enough for you?

3D? Sure thing. The 3DS is a real barn burner for sales.

Haptic Feedback? No thanks, I prefer better battery life. I have a One X and its disabled for a reason.

Augmented Reality? Yes, because this is a revolution. I am sure Nokia is going to light up sales with this feature.

Uhm, last time i checked the 3DS is selling like hotcakes, at least in the US. Outperforming the top-selling console of all times (DS) cant be that bad now, can it?

I doubt you have used any recent android phone or apps.

I own half a dozen devices Android devices.

As for the thousands of thousands, absolute BS you obviously dont have a clue.

I develop for the platform. I know very well what Android Apps can and can’t do, and I know outside of full screen UIs (e.g. video games) developing for the various screen sizes and dimensions requires adopting a flexible design pattern that precludes the precision of developing for iOS.

My S3 is way better.. i get to switch out my batteries when 1 dies down.. i get to overclock it on root, change roms, do whatever i want with the phone, no limits,

if you need an extra battery that badly, just carry around one of these:

H1893

So when they say it ships Sept. 21, does that mean that many of us who pre-order will not receive it by then? I'm guessing it means that Friday, Sept. 21 Apple will ship it from their facility (either in China or in US) and then many of us will receive it the following week.

The technology in the Qualcomm chipset sounds like it's positioned to be a competitor to NFC (and since the iP5 has it, it's likely just a software update to make use of it).

Interesting! Another option i thought about was Apple tying in the passbook feature with Bluetooth in some manner. could eliminate the close proximity of paying. Makes it easier to pay at restaurants or other places where you might have to hand over your device.

Android users like to swap out batteries because their oversized underengineered overclocked Android phones all have no battery life. All those LTE phones that came out before Apple finally released one were using early power-hungry LTE chips that drained the phone very quickly. Their screens are thick and huge, requiring a lot more power to match the iPhone's brightness. All the flagship Android phones have abysmal battery life under real world conditions because Android customers only care about spec sheets and not usability.

Apple spends a lot of money and effort to make everything else smaller inside the box so there's more battery, and optimize their software for battery life. To an Android user, they just don't understand the concept of a phone that can last all day long without running out of juice. So, they see that the iPhone battery can't be swapped and think that's a bad thing.

True except for the S3, Razr Maxx and any phone released since the S3 since the LTE chips are much less power hungry now.

Pre-orders should arrive on Sept. 21st.

This is my 1st post on this forum. I am for the most part an android fan(the dark side i know haha). I currently have a galaxy nexus and i love it and i think i might pick up the ip5. I really like how it looks. There's nothing wrong with my phone i'm just curious about ios works and the ip5 looks are winning me over pretty quick. I also like the feel of the phone(basing this on the 4/4s).

I get to use the itunes store and all the content and apps I already purchased on my iphone. Imagine that, sticking with a phone because of the ecosystem and not masturbating over specs or the ability to fiddle with it?

all i am tryin to say that at this point in time there is not a better alternative to iphone 5...i am not sayin its flawless

Thats not true, depending on what you need in a phone there are plenty better then the iphone. As with everything this is subjective .

Your going to experience two positive things by this switch. While the screen may be smaller, it's a heck of alot better. Is it as good as the One X screen, I'd have to see, but my guess is that it will be better. And second, you can take a picture in low light ;).

Good to switch ever once and a while. You get better perspective that way. Also, give it a more to the end of the return period to render judgement? It will take some adjustment and you have to give that some time or else you end up making a hasty decision.

I've love Apple, but not that exciting this time.

(Title: I love Apple)
I know it's ridiculous to some, but Samsung is starting to get my darting glances. Competition is a good thing in product development.

ARGH! I won't be eligible for an upgrade until May 2013. Might as well wait for the 5S or the 6 or whatever the **** they're gonna call the next one.

Sad to see 16/32/64 and not 32/64/128, but the real question is...black or white?

Well, after three and a quarter years of white 16 gig 3GS, it's time for Knight Rider black for me! :D

Time to retire 3GS, old friend. You can enjoy your happy, permanent retirement living on the bathroom speakers, with their pesky 30 pin connector! ;)

Not recent ones

Simply dont believe you .

IPhone 5 Underwhelming

Its a great phone which blends into the Apple software universe very well.
Thats it's strength.

But the Wow factor is gone.
Other smart phones have better cameras like the Sony.
Thinner...yes well lets not get carried away. Frankly its not like the 4 S was so thick it was a pain or something. Thinner was a differentiating factor when we went from bricks to Iphones.
The presentation video says it all...they loose steam about the Iphone and spend half the video showing us how cool it is to build it.

APPLE listen here:
You just missed a great opportunity to Wow the world not just improve. Samsung can improve you are expected to WOW.

- Camera should have been 1 Mega Pixel Better than Sony
-NEW ios6 should have been launched today.
-Siri should have done more and in more countries. Most of what is cool she can only do in the USA
- note taking is crap. I was expecting to see Apple blow away the Samsung note taking system.
- ILife?
-Iwork?
- Imrpovents to better manage work? Like a step into light project management?

The event should have been website based and not a hyped up event with zero wow factor.

To be an event like this you needed to,launch the new Ipads as well.

What happened to "one more thing" or something to substitute this. The cool, fun, Apple I have experienced since more than a decade just turned into an event where the new features are Ok.

Is this the new Apple? An "OK"?

If this were day one for Apple they have just been beaten by competitors.

Oooooooh lets see? A more open platform (ie on the S3 you can share a pic throughout every app on the phone that will accept a photo. Not just tweet, email, SMS and OH MY GOD! Facebook), a wider screen, a slimmer design, a Micro USB connector (as you have to use a special connector anyway) ... that's just off the top of my head

That's not true, we can open all our photos from any iOS app that handles pictures. How can you say the Samsung is slimmer, when the iPhone 5 is a millimeter thinner? The new dock connector is a lot better than Micro USB, because it can be connected in any orientation. Micro USB was always difficult, you need an LED magnifying glass to see, it's so tiny. The only advantage of the Micro USB is that it's fairly standard, so a single charger can be used with multiple equipment. That's an advantage when you travel, but I would hate to use Micro USB on a daily basis, it's frustrating.

The whole apple vs android debate is purely subjective, "x" is better than "x" it gets old after a while. Quality over quantity. Apple does certain things better than Android and Android does certain things better then Apple. Like you've said it'll be a nice change, of course i'll still have my nexus to tinker around with and i'll switch back and forth between the two. From where I stand why not just enjoy the technology.

Yes imagin that sticking with a phone because you are stuck on the apps you bought for it.
