Sod it, I'll get a Wireless Keyboard and an iPod nano for £185 ex VAT, then take £18 off that for a toal of £167. I'll be getting a Mac Mini next year anyway, so it'll be used in the long term as well as with my iBook (and I wonder if it'll work with my Bluetooth A1000?! Would be amusing if it did!)

I'll wait for a black nanoDock and some black nanoPhones and whatever to emerge.

Get with the program!

SLOW and no FireWire

Look. Your computer doesn't have USB 2.0 because it would have cost a little more and Firewire is better. At least it sounds better. Now Apple has decided that PC users are more important than you. So forget about Firewire. It's kind of like the PPC and Intel thing. Got it?

engraving broken. :-(

Well, this kinda sucks - I can't get mine engraved with my e.mail address like my other iPod is. Using the "@" gives me an error saying I wrote "Inappropriate" text. I wanna buy one with my e.mail address on it, darn it. :-(

EDIT: I tried to send Apple website feedback and I had to remove "@" from my feedback and refer to it as "at sign" since every time I would try and submit my feedback, it would tell me I hadn't filled out the comment section! I guess Apple.com has something against the "@" today. :-(

It's not that Apple has forgotten about you. It's that things move on. USB 2.0 is now the ubiquitous standard for things from mice to printers to the iPod. It is now only high speed hard drives and digital video cameras that use Firewire. Apple is merely reflecting what's happening in the industry as a whole!

As soon as my 50 dollar rebate comes in, I am getting this...

Assuming that you mean the $50 iPod battery settlement, then heck ya, I completely forgot about that! When are we supposed to get those? With EDU pricing and $50 store credit the nano is only $179! W00t!

Now I have to be realllly patient and wait for that check to come. :(

So this is USB 2.0
I don't supposed its backwards compatiable ???

I have a 1ghz ibook G4 with USB 1.0.......so I guess the nanos a no go for now ??

Apple announced a replacement to the iPod mini line today. The iPod nano. The iPod nano comes in 2GB and 4GB flavors and offers a smaller/sleeker package:

- 1000 songs in your pocket
- Color display, can support photos
- Click wheel navigation
- 80% smaller in volume than the original iPod. 1.5 ounces
- 1/2 the thickness of the iPod mini
- Supports the dock connector
- 14 hour rechargeable battery
- Flash memory instead of a hard drive
- New graphical clock, games, stopwatch, lap timer, screen lock
- White and Black models available.
- $199 and $249 for 2GB and 4GB models
Yes that is correct... Whoever bought a shuffle thinking that was cool... well think again... the nano blows all Mini players into the sky. for more info go to www.apple.com it should be on the Home Page.

http://images.apple.com/ipodnano/images/indexcompare20050907.jpg

hope i could help guru

If the sound quality is as good as the shuffle, then it's no contest. The nano is strikingly beautiful and even the new lanyard is designed properly without the excess overhanging cables.

Who cares about the slightly higher price per GB! I think I'll buy two, one in each color.

GEEZ. Now I can either pay 250$ for a 40 gig hard drive replacement on my broken 3G (which didn't last very long this last time it was replaced and broke after a light fall) OR I can purchase the new design no stupid moving breaking hard drive nano. With autosynch, 40gigs is almost unimportant because it would take forever to listen to that and I'm rarely away from my computer long enough to listen to 4 gigs of music and need more.

VERY TEMPTING APPLE!!!

When i look at a pic of the ipod mini now it looks so dated and clunky (and other brands of music players look even more ugly than ever). I dont believe the longer form factor of the Nano (i dont mean longer as in longer than the mini because it isnt, but longer compared with its width) is because they had to fit all the components in, its because thats a cool design, thats why the shuffle is long and not a square shape, its good design and not just aesthetically but its form will mean its even better to hold and use than the mini.

iPod nano looks smaller than the min-and no more 6gb modeli, and the E1 is coming out here in Australia too. Seems iSkins will have a rival now. I wish Apple would release iPod versions of the nanotubes, not just for the nano. Harry Potter iPod looks nice-I expected a JHTM (10th anniversary this year) or IZ iPod back in February.
