Assuming that you mean the $50 iPod battery settlement, then heck ya, I completely forgot about that! When are we supposed to get those? With EDU pricing and $50 store credit the nano is only $179! W00t!

Now I have to be realllly patient and wait for that check to come. :(

You're going to be waiting a long fricking time, my guess is at least 6 months. They probably won't even start processing them until well after Sept 30th, when the claims have to be postmarked by.

I'd just order a nano now and use it for something else when you do get it.

Anyone know if you can randomly put tracks on the Nano like you can the shuffle?

Also, anyone heard anything about the write speed? I'm sure it's as slow as the Shuffle...

Last comment... I really want one, but I want to wait until good cases come out. I know Apple is selling the Nano Tubes (nerd pun), but they aren't even shipping yet.

Meh, I really wanted more than 4gb of storage but less that 20. The headphone jack is in a really bad spot. It's too light, fragile and the screen is too small. I liked the iPod mini's better, I wish they just gave them a color screen and added a color screen.

I have no idea what to do for a birthday present now :(

iPod Camera Connector

Does anyone know yet if the iPod Camera Connector will connect to the Nano? How cool would that be for traveling with a digi cam!

If it does im buying one! :D

Just got a mail from apple saying: Buy an iPod and a Mac before 9th of
October 2005 and get $190 (Norwegian Kroner 1200,-) back.
Didn't it use to be only the iPod Mini?

It actually states that the offer is for iPod & iPod Mini? How is this possible?
I got the mail just now.

The U2 iPod isn't black?

There is the glaring problem of the red clickwheel on that model. So close to prize, yet... soooooo... far...

I'm definitely gonna snag a black 2GB nano. It addresses the main gripes I had about both the shuffle and the mini. I'm going to keep waiting on an upgrade to my 30GB 3G iPod. 60GB and a color display are nice, but... I want a little something more, whenever Apple's ready to bring it.

looks cool but my girlfriend is going to be pissed. She wanted a pink ipod mini

Well im now in a quandry..... size/looks/storage are ideal for me..... but the battery life is only 14 hours on paper, who knows what reality will yield!

Unlike HD players, where actual battery usage varies dramatically with your listening pattern (ie, how many times you hit "next song"), I believe the Flash-based player should get the listed battery life pretty much all the time (until the battery starts losing capacity, of course). The key of course being that they skip the "read ten minutes ahead off disk and put that into flash memory" step 'cause it's all already sitting in flash memory ...

Sure seems the case with my Shuffle.

The nano looks awesome. I guess black and white screens on our iPods are things of the past now, if it weren't that there's already millions out there. ;)
Going back to comments before the event, many might probably say this is not as revolutionary as they expected. I know many of us were expecting to see video in the iPod. Maybe they'll hold if off for MWSF 2006. Computer announcements seem to be ever so distant...

The important thing here is that Apple didn't simply introduce a new iPod in it's line. Apple decided they had sold enough iPod minis already so decided to replace it completely to get people to buy iPods all over again. At least that's how I see it. It is going to be much more likely that an iPod mini owner (4GB)will want to have the nano, just for the color screen, the "thinness" and innovation. There wouldn't be much point in buying a new iPod mini if the only changes were that it was lighter and used flash memory.
Apple is finding ways to sell their products and not simply make them better.
I want a nano already. A black one. :D

If it's the standard dock connector you can get a firewire cable though. I brought a 30Gb Photo and it was a USB connection but I just brought a Firewire cable and it works fine.

Edit: No you're right it does just say USB doesn't it....hmmm

IMHO, it'd be really stupid of Apple to not support Firewire over their now-ubiquitous Dock connector. That means that "some" dock-based devices and chargers etc would "work" and others would "not work" and you, as a consumer would have no way of telling the difference?

Seems silly. Hopefully it is not true.

Im buying one but undecided on White or Black.

When do you guys/ladies think that the car FM charger/transmitters will come out for the Nano?

I see that there is one on the Apple site but the reviews are keeping me from buying it and it doesnt have the adjustable pivot thingy to keep it in a certain place.

I will buy one if and only if it works with the camera adaptor. anyone know if it will? I have a dSLR and I'd rather spend the money on an iPod and connector than a multi GB flash card. anyone?

I like this much better than the mini, but, alas, I don't need it.

Mind you I want it like a heroin addict wants a spoon and a lighter, but I definitely don't need it.

Maybe for Christmas.

*puts $250.00 in the 30" display fund*

Apple is going to sell a bazillion of these things.

Go with white nano... black looks great when it's clean and unmarked, but the instant you get scratches or fingerprints on it, it looks like crap. White hides such blemishes much more effectively.

(Trust me on this... I used to own a black Audi TT. Now I own a SILVER Audi TT. I'll never buy another black car again.)

iPod mini will be back

I guarantee you that iPod Mini will resurface sooner or later. Apple had to take it off the market if they wanted to promote nano...most people would pass up 4gb-color-screen-ultrathin-ipod for 6gb mini if they were to spend $249. This was to market nano as the only option at $199-$249 range.

IMO, when 1.8inch hard drive makers (such as Toshiba) starts making 10gb drives, expect to see iPod mini come back into play then, probably at $279 or something like that (with nano price drop to $179-$229.

This was a very shrewd move by Jobs.

Nano!!

Does the black colour iPod Nano come with Black coloured heaphones???

on order.

black 2GB Nano, Exactly what I wanted to go with my 15gb Ipod Dock. I wanted color, and I am glad I waited and didn't get the new color iPod when it came out.

2gb is perfect for my driving needs, and this will free up my ipod for home / other car duty were it can be plugged in to recharge, or get shaken less.

I am super happy,, Thanks Apple for doing it again!

Anyone know if it will probably work with USB 1.1? It says 2.0 recommended on the tech specs page, but 2.0 required on the apple store page. However, I just got off the phone with apple, and the guy said he had never heard of a Mac(which I have) not work with an iPod with USB 1.1. Any thoughts?
