Mork and Mindy yuck!

I always hated the TV show "Mork and Mindy' For some reason Robin Williams just makes me want to hurl. Now I am going to be reminded of that horrible show everytime I see an ad for the Nano. God what a STUPID name. Who is the one at Apple that thought Nano was a good name? Hello anybody home?? Hello?? Hello?????

Regarding colors:

You can get the nano Tubes. They're on the nano accessories page. They're colored sleeves that fit around the device but let you continue to use the click wheel. I think this is actually the best of both worlds, as you can mix and match, etc... and protect the unit (which is nice, since my iPod has undergone some serious trauma, and my wife's mini has seen better days.)

Look at the lanyard with the integrated headphones!!!

Accessories look cool as hell.
I have to agree on the lanyard. Very cool!

I suppose if you used third-party headphones that would be a disappointment, but I'm sure there will be a third-party lanyard in short order.

My question is how it holds 25,000 photos. I thought that was the capacity of the 60 GB iPod... ?

Some kind of heavy file compression, I would guess--I imagine this is for display purposes, not for storage of large photos.

Another nice thing, if you check out the tech specs, is that, unlike the shuffle, it accepts AIFF and Apple Lossless music files.

So great you need two:

Very much a 2005 version of the original iPod. (That must have been what the press release was alluding to.)

Gorgeous. I like the thinner style of iTunes 5 too, kind of matches.

This will kill the shuffle.

Completely. The shuffle looks like a complete panic move by Apple now - was the shuffle released purely because they couldn't do anything better before MWSF in January?

Anyway, Apple now have the high end flash market nailed. Love it.

Looks like it's time to replace my 4GB Mini!

Though, it's a bit annoying that the 20GB iPod is only a further £30...

Ah who cares, I'm getting the black one :)

JESUS.

What a beautiful machine!

I'm ordering tonight. I have form now until I get home to make up my mind, white or black. It'll probably come down to a coin toss.

You could never be more correct. But I still love it. Still, I'm alarmed it doesn't support FireWire at all despite having a dock connector. I think I can get used to the headphone jack inverted.

does it really piss everyone else off that that cingular company, their demo on the website has it plugging into a rank PC?

shouldnt be that way

What's slow? USB2? No it isn't. It may be slower than firewire in practice but not THAT much.

Anyway, even USB2 will be a lot faster than the flash memory.

What no firewire? Seems only to be USB 2.0. My Cube doesn't have that what a bummer, would have got one otherwise

It will still work with plain old USB 1.1 ports in your Cube, fear not... However, I see a micro niche market now for a USB 2 <> FireWire400 converter forming.. Damn I hate USB.

i think i may need to go against all i've ever said and buy me one of these guys, excuse me as i go think and try to convince myself. :)

I'll be even more correcter by saying this will be the nail that drives the coffin in Creative's death.

Just ordered a 6 gig black one with a dock and case. Also, iTunes 5 is AMAZING! Less blocky and ugly. iTunes has looked the same until today!

Using with 1.1 would suck even more. And that market for converters exists since a long time, like that for FAST SCSI/FireWire converters, but nobody is taking them.

Bummer

I was hovering over the order button until I noticed that it doesn't support Firewire at all... It takes forever to update my 1G shuffle on my TiBook, never mind how long it will take to transfer 4x that...

I understand not packing in the cable, but not making it at all compatible... Too bad...

I guess the next generation of full size iPods will probably drop Firewire support all together.
