Nano Nano

So, does this mean we may get a Mac Nano or Nano Mac with an Intel chip, more RAM capacity and a slightly larger size?

Well I hate to say it but it looks hideous, I'm so pleased I got my 6gb blue mini only 2 weeks ago, I knew the update was coming but to get rid of the mini form factor entirely, and replace it with this rectangle seems like a bad move.

ur such a big fat liar and u know it. u want one so bad

Go to the VR tours, then you can rotate it to your hearts content!

This won't kill the shuffle. It's too expensive and it doesn't work as a USB drive and can't be used on a PC and Mac without a reformat. I'll keep my shuffle which I don't worry about harming. I would definitely worry about harming this thing and I don't think it comes with a lanyard. too bad about the loss of 2GB at the same $249 price point. Overall I think it's a great product though. $199 for 500 songs seems like too much though.

Actually iPods that are formatted for PC can be used on Macs without any problems.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

Scrap the popular and many coloured min for this!! I have a 20gb bought for £190 only £20 more than the 4GB nano. What a joke!!! May look nice but applae need urgent updates to their higher end line......without video capability PSP (£179) and creative video players will eat into apple. The ipod phone is ugly but will quickly catch up market share as many people would be happy with 10 albums on the go at any time.....i have a feeling in time motarola phone will infact shift more units as part subsidised by phone networks......

CONS!:

1) No belt clip included
2) Shorter battery life
3) Costs more for less storage!
4) location of headphone port
5) Gone are they days of the scratch resistance of aluminum and choosing colors other than black and white..

Pretty cool, but even though I just opened a 4GB iPod mini. I'll be keeping it. I'll wait for the prices to come down before I buy the Nano. Not worth the extra money to me at the moment.

im beyond disappointed. Sure the nano looks cool and all but why replace the mini. :-( *sighs* i hope to god they dotn do something stupid like make a smaller version of the mac mini. you have any idea how challenging and stupid that would be> mac nano? yea deffinately a stupid name.

Apple might need to buy up 80% of the flash NAND output instead. This nano bling bling is a best seller.

actually whoa... no more iPod Mini :( the single most beautiful iPod ever IMO. this is sad. but i suppose makes my mini that little more special i suppose. bugger i better get all those accessories now before the Mini crowd switches to Nano.

would be nice if they could update all the iPods Firmware to support the Nanos new features (screen lock, world clock etc). and maybe if they mildly updated the 4G line too.

i ask you. what is the point in the shuffle now? unless there is a serious price drop it just doesn't work well with the entire iPod line up.

Anyone else reckon Apples going black n shiny from now on? Hmmm? The black background pictures in the gallery, the edges of the website, etc. etc. I thought black plastic was kinda nasty, but seeing it all shiny makes me think a shiny black powerbook could be quite nice....

This thing looks hot. Other can just cry, because they know he is the winner. Nice to see that Apple is moving away from the brushed metal design with iTunes 5.
It is a bit of topic, but I say Leopard will be sans brushed metal.

I was hovering over the order button until I noticed that it doesn't support Firewire at all... It takes forever to update my 1G shuffle on my TiBook, never mind how long it will take to transfer 4x that...

I understand not packing in the cable, but not making it at all compatible... Too bad...

I guess the next generation of full size iPods will probably drop Firewire support all together.

USB 2.0 = very fast. Relax.

Already ordered my White "nano"

I am replacing my 6GB Silver mini with a 4GB White nano. I love the small size and weight of the nano and will give up a few songs to get the form factor.

Look for my Silver 6GB mini on eBay.

Your mileage may vary.

The shuffle looks like a complete panic move by Apple now

I disagree. I happily take my Shuffle to the gym, where it gets bounced around, sweated on, etc. I'm not sure I'd be willing to do the same with the Nano. They're for different markets, but the Shuffle certainly still has a place.
