If one is just using streaming apps, and maybe a few simple one-button jump games, then I can see why 32GB would be more than enough storage.

But... If the ATV is supposed to be a gaming box for Apple Arcade, then 32GB and 64GB isn't enough.

Just downloading some of the big games along with 4K Aerials would fill the 32GB. Look on the App Store or Apple Arcade at some of the big titles' size.

Oceanhorn 2 horn alone can be almost 10% of the total 32GB ATV storage, and this isn't even close to the biggest games just on Apple Arcade.

So, a handful of some big games, aerials, with some streaming apps, all mixed with how the tvOS handles cached data could definitely take up the 32GB of data.

Start downloading a lot of the big games, then you might start seeing the out of storage messages even on the 64GB ATV.
Can you recommend some large games to check out? I do have apple arcade and play a couple of games but haven't explored it much.

I’d love to find out whether the “Adjust colour balance” feature will be available on the current Apple TV 4K. I’m guessing it won’t be but I don’t see a technical limitation to why it couldn’t be available.
It is available, need to have RC of both tvOS and iOS 14.5

Interesting! I didn’t know that. I have an original Roku 4, must be about 5 years old, got it when it first came out. My dad’s Roku 3 also dings when you push the button. Thought they all did. Live and learn. Still, point remains, it’s not a new idea, Apple could have incorporated it. Our kids are always losing the damned appletv remote.
That feature debuted with the original Roku 4 if I remember right. I have several previous models that work well enough but definitely do not have the find my feature.

I hope this updated ATV fixes the raised blacks in Dolby vision on every OLED. This has been a huge problem for oled users who want to use Apple TV.
Hope they fixed

I just did the color balance and it does seem to improve colors on my TV. Do you have to do this at different times of day, each time you watch under different lighting conditions?

Not really sure why Apple still thinks people care about Apple TV or take them seriously as even a niche gaming platform.

The ship has sailed for Apple TV gaming. Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft already have the market cornered and then some.

too little too late

If you are a fan of Zelda, or open world action RPGs, Oceanhorn 2 is an excellent game. It isn't hard, but has a lot of Easter eggs, and if you are like me, you will end up dying more from falling while exploring than NPCs.

The game itself is a little less than 3GB in size, but it really seems massive due to the open world.

When I first gave it a try, I thought the beginning area was the whole game, and was a little disappointed at first, but the game is really, really huge.

That said, you could probably finish the game in about 20 hours, although, it took me almost 50 hours, as I explored everywhere possible, even parts of the game that were unfinished and I found them due to glitches. The glitches are not common, and I only found them because I was trying to get to very remote areas that were not meant to be explored by jumping, or swimming beyond what was finished.

I understand the extra cost for the unique Apple features, but $180? It gets harder and harder to justify an Apple TV when the competition is so much less. Roku just announced a 4K box for $40. If all I really want is streaming, why buy an Apple TV? (I say this as a previous Apple TV owner. I loved that box, but in the future I’ll probably go with Roku)
I’ve sold all my old appletv’s to upgrade to the new ones. Getting 80-120$ for the old ones usually. The upgrade is a small amount. You get a lot more than a streaming box with an appletv. If you just want something strictly for streaming a few apps then another device is fine but i want a lot more features.

Nice, i'll check it out. You know, the only zelda game i've ever played was the original!

I’d really love to see an option to download movies directly to the Apple TV. Streaming audio just does it cut it when you have a true killer home theater set up. And To this day the sound quality on my Apple TV 4K is beyond subpar compared to my Xbox one X and now my Xbox series X This would definitely be a great buy if I knew the audio problems were fixed/improved

I'm going to have to see some reviews on this feature before I use it. I've already got my TV calibrated with a Spears and Munsil Blu-Ray. I don't necessarily trust Apple to not jack up some of it's internal picture parameters to get me a "good" picture that no longer looks natural. The last thing I want is Apple doing it's own version of 'Vivid'.

If you're talking about streaming audio, apple uses a higher bitrate than anyone else. At best it should sound better than your xbox's, mine certainly does. At worst it shouldn't sound any worse than them.
This tells me you either have a hardware problem or something not configured correctly. Yes, I do have a One X and series X so I know. And i'm running two home theaters.

I wanted a 2nd ATV to replace a Firestick 4K on another TV... I don't *need* it, the Firestick is fine for what it does but I cannot stand the ads on the FireTV interface.

Some things I like. HDMI 2.1 - Not sure if its a full 48Gbps port or a 40Gbps one but...

I do like the WiFi6/802.11ax support. I have it and could use it though not really that much better than AC IMO...

I am curious if Thread support means it acts as a border router like the Homepod Mini. I run homekit and liked the Nanoleaf thread stuff but use Sonos so had no need for Mini... My current ATV4K is my home hub...

They should have used an A12X Bionic instead. Previous model used the 2017 iPP's A10X which was good, however the A12 itself is only marginally better, but does not beat it in the graphics department. It even trails the A10X in synthetic benchmarks like Geekbench 5's Metal score.

An A12X from the 2018 iPad Pro would have given more substantial improvements over the A10X and it is more in-line with the previous model as a direct successor, seeing as the A12X 2018 iPP was the direct successor to the A10X 2017 iPP.

Either your cable is defective, your ATV has a HW issue or it’s a TV issue altogether. A drop-out is certainly not normal behaviour.
thank you iSunrise.

Anyway, I bet Amazon fire TV is updating soon - I see their 4K box thing came out in 2018 - so they are due. I've had all prior versions of apple tv because I liked the option to stream music from my itunes library that started with Pepsi bottle caps, but now use amazon unlimited music streaming - so not sure if apple's best choice anymore.

That’s interesting. Because when it originally came out I sent feedback and I worked with engineering and they said they were known issues with audio quality that they were working on. To this day it still is horrendous compared to my ex boxes which sucks because I would much rather use the Apple TV What is your setup like

My ATV4k is directly connected to my receiver. Audio in ATV settings should be set to best available or auto or whatever they call it now. Make sure your receiver is in the correct mode(this varies by receiver). I have a yamaha in my den but my main system uses a denon. Also on that Denon I have my Series X, 2019 shield pro, Oppo 203 and fire stick 4k. No discernible audio quality difference unless i'm watching a disc or one of my rips with lossless audio. Steaming audio all sounds pretty much the same from everything. Except from ATV+ on the ATV itself. That sounds pretty damn good for streaming.

I even have an older ATV, non 4k, and it's fine too. I use that one on my yamaha. The 4k is on my denon.

i always used appleTV's because i liked the option to 'steam' my music library from my imac.

But now I use amazon prime streaming - so I'm not sure there's any reason to go with another apple tv, may look at amazon fire. I also went with echos comfort sound due to apple's speaker cost.

apple's kind of losing me. iPads are the only thing keeping me in system
