They have also added search by lyrics support to Apple Music. I don't know if this is a new feature for everyone or just Sweden.

9.7 kept the same price, so the mini compared to version 4 (only €20 more)
Mini 4 was overpriced, and 5 is still too pricey especially in the EU. The most interesting product is the new Air with support for the keyboard and pencil, the CPU is quite fast and I don't think the lack of FaceID is a problem with that product.

But why the Apple Pencil 1? Having 2 different pencils that only work with certain iPads is bound to cause confusion.

Apple should be phasing all iPads to the new Pencil 2, not introducing brand new iPads that work exclusively with the older pencil.

Agreed. They also should be moving away from the lightning port. I hate hauling three different power cables when I travel.

So no replacement for the mass market iPad?

And those bezels on the mini, what are they thinking? OTOH, the A12 makes this a very powerful tablet.

Mini costs too much. Base memory is too low to be a practical option even for my wife who is by no means a power user and has been hanging onto her mini forever.

Still rocking an iPad mini 2 on iOS 12 here. With 16 GB. It gets crowded, but between allowing podcasts to stream and iOS automatically cleaning rarely-used apps, it works.

Sure, I wouldn’t buy a new one with this capacity, but the new minimum is four times that at 64, so…

It's not complicated for me. The Pencil 2 requires a different iPad chassis. These lower cost iPads can't support that.

Pencil 1 vs Pencil 2 is not complicated for me... Pencil 1=iPads, Pencil 2=iPad Pro

edit: added "for me" to avoid confusion.

The problem is she often uses it to hold offline media for when she’s travelling. Fills up fast.
