I’m glad that the camera remains on portrait, I hope they stop with Stage Manager and don’t make the iPad Pro a generic traditional computer wannabe, like basically all the competition. That would be the end of the iPad. Good to have the M2 for those that use intensive apps, but overall, very minor update.

I haven't seen any mention about the Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro. Is it the same one as before or is there a new model?

I bought a renewed m1 12.9 pro last month when my 2018 pro screen died. Was worried i would regret it come the October announcements… I’m happy to say i have no regrets lol 😋

Obligatory "can I replace my Mac with an IPP" post...

Half-joking. I've been considering this in order to reduce the # gadgets I own. Never got any help from MR forums when I previously asked.

Has the screen for the 11” iPP changed at all since 2018?

I wanted to upgrade this year, but it doesn’t seem like it will be worth it. I really love the 11” size. Perfect for all my needs. Not interested in the larger version.

Day to day use is this fancy LED display on the big models a lot superior to the standard one on the smaller iPad Pro?
It’s mostly just nice for watching movies in the dark. It makes blacks actually black instead of dark gray.

However, it isn’t suitable for text like in Kindle dark mode, because the array of dimming zones is still much too coarse for that. There it creates blooming halos around the text.

Glad I bought a new 2021 iPad Pro 11 M1 128GB for $599 new from Walmart last week.
Figured I would grab the deal and still be in the return window for the new iPads.

No compelling reason to upgrade and a nice discount. I am not a pro user but the luxury features (ProMotion, laminate display, speakers, Apple Pencil 2) are a nice upgrade from 9th gen iPad...

The landscape camera on the new iPad is very tempting for my use case, but not worth the price hike over the 9th gen; with 256Gb costs the same as the M1 iPad Pro.

Excited to open up this "new" iPad now

I thought at this point they were just skipping 6E. If they were doing this they should have done it for everything this year.

Also, it seems aside from minor pencil upgrades, the only improvement is more power. The one area the iPad didn't really need improvement.

And wait a minute Apple, I thought we "no longer have to deal with a SIM card!?"

Definitely waiting for display improvements in the next model.

Would have liked to see the bezels being reduced on the Pros and Dynamic Island being implemented, I think I would have been sold on the M2 iPads. Tempting to get the newer M2 version, but if I see a M1 version for around 500 bucks I'll definitely snag it.

I think it is hard to do. I have tired a few times but a regular Mac or windows interface works better. I do think you can replace it for 90% of tasks...
I think the most cost effective thing to do is buy a

1) MacBook Air plus cheap iPad. (had this set up for almost two years, iPad as second screen with continuity is clutch. I don't even use a monitor anymore)

2) Premium iPad Pro plus cheap windows laptop (<$300). The windows laptop can do a tedious task that comes up that the the iPad does not accomplish well... I know cheap windows laptop is sacrilege speak for this forum but its a cost effective solution

I think it really depends on what you want to do on the device. I find real estate is king when trying to be productive, so an IPP or MBA is not great to work on for a long time, but plug a MBA into my 34” widescreen then it’s a lot better. Now if an IPP can do extended screen support then there is little reason (for me) to have a MBA.

Yes I do have a Windowas pc too, but that is really for gaming now.

I was 50/50 coming from a 2018 12.9. Decided to get a $95 apple folio keyboard off of amazon to replace my current one that's not connecting well and ripping apart.
I'll definitely get the next one or if there's a 14" version. I've used it everyday since it came out.

now waiting on M2 mini Mac

So the insanely powerful M1 iPad Pro from last year can’t do the Pencil hover? lol my god.
I doubt it has anything to do with the processing power, but some type of radio tech under the screen. I'm sure they had said tech available at the time of developing the M1 iPP, but held on to it until now because they knew this release would be underwhelming enough.

No MagSafe at all or Mini LED for the 11 inch model smh. So I need lightning for my iPhone 14 pro and airpods but USB C for my iPad and MacBook Pro? Whatever happened to simplicity? My $40 MagSafe cable only works for my iPhone Cupertino has completely lost their minds.
