Geeze-,nothing like muddling the waters. This new iPhone is the iPhone 9 in every way. It has nothing to do with the "SE" name it hijacked.
Gotta wonder what's going on in the minds of the chaps in the marketing dept.
Re-used existing body, panel, and touchID manufacturing chains, check.

Put the latest processor into it which will reduce bulk order costs of the processor itself, check.

From a business perspective this is EXACTLY the same product and process of the last generation SE.

Which one?
The one I have now, with flat edges and no camera bump, and a size that allows me to get it into and out of my pocket in a flash. And if something should happen to that one at some point, I'll go to the other SE I've got sitting on the shelf, which I bought the day Apple announced they would stop making them.

Size, Apple. Not everybody has hands the size of baseball gloves.

[Edit] I'm sure a lot of people will like it. But I'll stick with what I have.

Actually, though it has the same dimensions, it is possible to have altered button placement that would mess around with case fits. But I would assume that this is enough to confirm it's exactly an iPhone 8 chassis.

But does the XR camera, paired with an A13, allow for Night Mode? The XR paired with the A12 does not, is the upgrade to A13 sufficient? I'm guessing it isn't, since it's not mentioned in the press release.

Button placement was not altered.

Night mode requires 100% Focus Pixels which the XR lens does not have.

Apple's marketing chief Phil Schiller:
The first iPhone SE was a hit with many customers who loved its unique combination of small size, high-end performance and affordable price; the new second-generation iPhone SE builds on that great idea and improves on it in every way -- including our best-ever single-camera system for great photos and videos -- while still being very affordable. iPhone SE features the industry-leading performance of A13 Bionic that enables great battery life, takes stunning Portrait mode and Smart HDR photos, shoots amazing videos with stereo audio, is great for games and super fast web surfing, and is built with the same industry-leading security features our customers expect. We can't wait to get iPhone SE into customers' hands.

So what happened with the small size???

I think there’s no night mode, that’s a bummer. Also are you sure the product (RED) has a black front? I’ve read the red has a white front glass just like the 7. Maybe it’s a typo on Apples site.
The iPhone 8 Product(RED) also had a black front. But it looks like they all have a black front.

I'm disappointed too about Night Mode. After coming to grips with the likelihood that we we've seen the last of the 5/5S chassis size, I'm happy with everything else about it...except that. Not enough to make me not purchase it though...it might be a couple of years yet before a Night Mode compatible camera comes to market at the SE price point.

iPhone SE compares poorly with competition in all regards but the processor. For example Samsung A51 has 6.5" super AMOLED screen, modern set of cameras (triple camera plus depth camera), under the screen fingerprint sensor and up to 8GB of RAM. It costs $350.
But it's an instant buy here to replace an aging 6s. IMO, the target market is not the android churn crowd, it's the smaller phone lcd, touch id crowd for $399. The A51 in my family is a never buy.

So it has the same A13 chip as the 11 Pro's yet, the video recording is capped at 4K @ 30fps!! What gives?

EDIT: Never mind, just noticed its capped for HDR. It can still record 4K @ 60fps

Shut up and take my money!

(yes, I see that I have to wait for 2 more days...)

I really need to upgrade my daughter's 6s; this will fit the bill just perfectly.

Sorry if it’s been posted already -

On their compare products page, the new SE officially does not support night mode

also battery life is similar to iPhone 8. Was not expecting that. Looks like the phone dimensions are identical to the 8 and not thicker as some rumours suggested.

Disappointing to hear about night mode and battery life, battery life especially.

I’d still like the rumored XE.
One question, why did they keep the top bezel and not try to give it a small notch (for speaker and sensors as well). They could have added substantial real estate to the device. I’m happy with my X, but kind of yearn for the old thinner/lighter devices

True but if you want a low price iPhone this is it.
