Same screen they've had for probably four or five years. It's dim, doesn't support HDR, still 60hz. The machine is port-limited also. Apple seems to just totally not give a rip about displays on any of their devices right now. The competition has blown past them, in that regard.
The screen is not an issue from my perspective. I have the screen on my M2 set to half its max brightness, and even though I have Pro Motion on my iPad and iPhone, I don't notice the difference when I use my Air. /shrug.

Love this update, especially the price cut. Great option for anyone in the market. But, my M2 is still in mint condition and works just fine for my uses, so it would be hard for me to justify the purchase.
What color did you get that it has remained in such great condition?

Thanks for the refreshing take. People are who they are. The ones that hate have a glass half empty view of life where as the people that call it half full are in a happier place.

Dude, nobody is "hating". We're having a discussion around the product and disagreement with the state of the product and Apple's decisions doesn't equate to "hate".

I respect your opinion and I'm glad you enjoy it. I have an M1 Pro and was ready with credit card in hand to buy an Air today..........if they gave it 120hz and increased the brightness. They didn't, so I'll wait another year. There's sub-$500 Windows laptops that have 120hz screens now, time for Apple to quit being cheap.

Perhaps I am, but the "new and improved" spec bump is only going to work for so long. Would it kill them to at least give us more options without hosing us on the prices for them? What they want to charge for RAM and storage upgrades is asinine.
This is how Apple rolls. They with a little bit of extra love could gain a significant amount of customer goodwill, but they just don’t. Myself love the products but don’t care much for the way they do by
Business. I had a trade in debacle last fall that feels like they stole my money, and really they did. To recoup I am buying a MBA which while I want don’t necessarily need.

You are wishfully thinking they will upgrade the screens. Until they upgrade the MBP screens you will continue to see the same screens on MBA. The spec bump will probably disappoint as well since it could be an upgrade to 90Hz or maybe a waterdown oled.

blue toilet cleaner. Any other suggestions? (full disclosuere: I already ordered a baby blue/toilet blue one.....)

Toilet Bowl Blue, or TBT for short - has a ring to it
There is no VAT in the US.

VAT is just another name for sales tax; except it is included in the displayed price usually.

However, the G3 was too underpowered so the following year I replaced it with a grey G4 PowerBook Titanium. And all of a sudden, all those random women stopped talking to me. :(

Spray paint is your friend.

If I buy using Edu store to have shipped does apple verify student id somehow?

No. I doubt Apple really cares vs making the sale.

If it’s bourbon I prefer to view it as half a glass more of pleasure with my cigar.

So, they killed Space Gray, their most popular color and the perfect shade of graphite as it's not too light, not too dark, conceals prints, and softens some of the stark contrast between the keyboard and chassis giving an overall understated, yet industrial, cool look, and replaced it with another shade of blue?

I guess Space Black is just way too Pro for an Air.

So now the choices are Silver, Gold-Tinted Silver, Blue-Tinted Silver, and Dark Blue. Did they ever give Midnight the new coating to address finger prints?
Where’s the evidence that space gray is their most popular colour? Or is it just personal preference? I’d argue anyone wanting a dark air was buying the midnight instead. I only see midnight and silver out and about, with few exceptions of starlight but never space gray. Obviously that’s not scientific but empirical, but pretty sure  wouldn’t discontinue the “most popular colour” in their most popular mac. Unlike us, they fave real evidence and numbers to back up their decision making.

I’m not the one who originally quoted about the hate, but it is refreshing to see the post the OP made. If you look at posts there is way more negativity than positivity including some of my posts.

No one is dying because of the old-fashioned displays but it’s perfectly fine to leave a comment to mention why you’re not getting the machine. It’s not to rain on anyone’s parade, it’s going to be a really sweet device for everyone not used to normal refresh rates, it’s just to signal that a lot of people would appreciate it if Apple would change their treatment of potential MBA customers and leaving a comment on a popular fan website is the easiest way to do that.

my MBP M1 was space gray, loved the color. Had to choose on my M4 MBP and ended up with space black, would have preferred space gray. Now with the mba I would have gone with the space gray , but discontinued. Will not likely try the light blue this time.

For a chip swap and "finally something in the Studio line" that's all way overdue?

If the innovation were any slower they'd be moving in reverse
I don't understand this line of thinking. Why continue to post/frequent a site that so clearly doesn't align with what you want? Apple isn't going to make things for the vocal minority (smaller phones) etc and many billions of people enjoy Apple products and are satisfied with the direction of the company. Why not move on to something that more aligns with your needs?

We have to see them at the stores to find out the difference between space grey and midnight. I’m not sure if midnight is a little blue tinted tone or not.
Midnight is basically navy blue. It is a very dark color with a blue tint. Space gray has mostly been varying shades of medium gray.

😂😂😂😂 my first computer used an black and white TV for a display.

I'm obviously alone in not finding the color "beautiful" or "gorgeous"

All these muted "tints" are really not that attractive to me

So many of them look like "dirty silver"

I miss real, vibrant, color options
I bought an M2 last year and in checkout couldn’t decided and got starlight. When it arrived. I hated it. Basically looked like a urine stained silver. Took it to store and swapped it for actual silver.

No disagreement here, but I want them to release products that I want to buy and will bring them more success. Nobody is asking for them to reinvent the wheel, but the competition is eating their lunch if you care about displays. I bought one of the Asus Qualcomm Snapdragon X powered laptops last fall, it is as fast or faster than my MBP, has an OLED screen, same RAM, same storage, Windows Hello, $700.
