So, they killed Space Gray, their most popular color and the perfect shade of graphite as it's not too light, not too dark, conceals prints, and softens some of the stark contrast between the keyboard and chassis giving an overall understated, yet industrial, cool look, and replaced it with another shade of blue?

I guess Space Black is just way too Pro for an Air.

So now the choices are Silver, Gold-Tinted Silver, Blue-Tinted Silver, and Dark Blue. Did they ever give Midnight the new coating to address finger prints?

One thing I would. Be curious is if the screen isn’t cleaned properly will it degrade over time, or degrade even from proper cleaning.
I don't know, but here's is Apple support document on it:

Does anyone know how soon Amazon will have these listed? I have a large giftcard I'd like to use.

You may need to wait until March 12th, when it's released. I just checked and Amazon is still offering the M3 MBA but not the M4.

But if I were you I'd keep checking back. They may add preorders soon.

EDIT: @noobinator Amazon has them now.

No, but as of yesterday there IS a 20% tariff on goods from China; that Apple was able/willing to lower the price, knowing that, is admirable.
Let's see what happens. Apple imported loads of M4 MBAs over the last several months, well before the tariffs went into effect. If the tariffs holds for a couple of months, Apple will likely need to increase the price. This is not a political statement, just stating the obvious.

Apple today announced refreshed 13- and 15-inch MacBook Air models, now featuring the M4 chip, an upgraded camera, and a new "Sky Blue" color option.

"Sky Blue" is an all-new blue finish that joins Midnight, Starlight, and Silver. Apple describes it as a "beautiful, metallic light blue that creates a dynamic gradient when light reflects off of its surface." Space Gray is no longer available. All MacBook Air models come with a color-matched MagSafe charge cable.

The M4 chip features a 10-core CPU, an up to 10-core GPU, and support for up to 32GB of unified memory. Apple says the new MacBook Air is up to 2x faster than the M1 model. Neural Engine tasks are up to 3x faster. The M4 chip debuted in the iPad Pro last year, promising around 20% faster performance than the M3 chip in both single and multi-core tasks.

With a new display engine, the MacBook Air now offers support for up to two external 6K displays in addition to the built-in display.

The new MacBook Air introduces a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera, which automatically keeps users centered in the frame as they move around during video calls. It also supports Desk View, which simultaneously displays the user and a top-down view of their desk.

The MacBook Air now features a lower starting price of $999. Education pricing starts at $899. It is available to pre-order today, with availability beginning Wednesday, March 12.

My wish came true for a lighter blue shade. Light blue is my favorite color. Ordered!!

I’m in a similar boat here, but downgrading just a tad. I ordered a 13” to replace my 15” M2 8gb. The low RAM is a hindrance and given that the laptop is plugged in more than 75% of the time, no big need for the larger screen.
I was wondering why you went 15-->13. I am trying to decide. Having become used to a (old decrepit) 27" iMac, I am trying to image using a laptop again. Was leaning towards 15, but your post caught my eye.

Fanboys are always gonna fanboy. I love Apple but I call 'em as I see 'em. They're resting on their laurels and doing as little as possible.
The sales don’t suggest they have a problem with what they are doing. You are fighting an uphill battle.

The one catch is it's expensive to go from the 16/256 GB model to the 16/512 GB model.
Explains how this is a catch, you can get the 16/512 for the same price as the older model. You can look at it that way which I don’t agree with or you can say i am getting a free upgrade to 512. Or save money and get the 256. For a lot of people this is fine they don’t need a lot of storage.

I LOVE that blue! Subtle. Had it on my iPad Air and have it on my AirPods Max. Though they will probably all be slightly different, as always.
I really wish they would do something to improve the consistency with their colors. I have like 4 pink apple products from the last several years and they’re all different shades.

I wouldn’t mind if they were at least the same hue with different saturations, but some are more salmon and others lean magenta, it’s terrible 😵

Hard to understand what all the hate is about. For us without a laptop and who want to stay in the Apple ecosystem, this seems to be something that will last for years and do what average users need it to do! Great job, Apple. :)
Thanks for the refreshing take. People are who they are. The ones that hate have a glass half empty view of life where as the people that call it half full are in a happier place.

Better machine, nice new color, and lower price? What’s the catch..?
Same screen they've had for probably four or five years. It's dim, doesn't support HDR, still 60hz. The machine is port-limited also. Apple seems to just totally not give a rip about displays on any of their devices right now. The competition has blown past them, in that regard.

Perhaps I am, but the "new and improved" spec bump is only going to work for so long. Would it kill them to at least give us more options without hosing us on the prices for them? What they want to charge for RAM and storage upgrades is asinine.
