So the rumor was three Thunderbolt 5 ports, and the reality is two Thunderbolt 4 ports. Weak. Even three Thunderbolt 4 would have been a great step.
Why remove Space Grey? That was probably the most popular option. Doesn’t make sense to me.
I've always disliked the black and grey Macs (except for maybe the iMac Pro). Blue looks soooooo much nicer. But silver is the safest since there is no paint/anodized layer to wear off.Speak for yourself; I'm far from being a woman, but I don't care for dark colors and never have. No need to be sexist.
The blue looks infinitely better, to me, than the space grey. My M1 was space grey, but I went back to silver for my M4.
Just about nobody was predicting Thunderbolt 5 ports for the MacBook Air.So the rumor was three Thunderbolt 5 ports, and the reality is two Thunderbolt 4 ports. Weak. Even three Thunderbolt 4 would have been a great step.
I agree. I use an M2 Air for all my writing needs, and it runs plenty fast and runs everything I throw at it. Plus, I get 15 hours+ of battery out of it. That's plenty enough power for me. But I'm sure the M4 Air is measurably better. Or is it?What does this offer me over an m2 in real life usage day to day? Debating this vs m2 at a $200 premium.
Back 25 years ago, I bought a shiny new white 12" G3 iBook.
Another post that says the MBP has different features than the Air? Gosh, this must be groundbreaking! I'll make popcorn. There is more advantages… better screen, a fan, better speakers and more… I will make a post !
The news is breaking. Can’t wait!!Another post that says the MBP has different features than the Air? Gosh, this must be groundbreaking! I'll make popcorn.

Ask to look at the nano texture model in your local Apple Store. I was blown away by how good it was. It blocks out all the light reflections whilst maintaining a vibrant colourful screen. What does that do for the screen?
If I buy using Edu store to have shipped does apple verify student id somehow?
No, but as of yesterday there IS a 20% tariff on goods from China; that Apple was able/willing to lower the price, knowing that, is admirable. There is no VAT in the US.
How is ditching your most popular colour option understandable? Across the board Apple’s colour options are hideous. Everything seems geared towards colours that women like. I’m sick of pastel colours with stupid names.
I see you are in LA. In the US and Canada, there is no such verification for online edu orders. There is sometimes in-store, but not always. However, in other countries, verification is often needed. If I buy using Edu store to have shipped does apple verify student id somehow?
I'm a part time student and many of the edu deals aren't available to me so wanted to see how it works with Apple. Thanks! No

Honestly, everyone should
Don't feel bad about it ...
Apple doesn't feel bad about all the ways they gouge their customers, so I'd use whatever edge you can get.
It’s a lot more complicated than that. Are Macs considered imports from China? They have components from all over the world. No, but as of yesterday there IS a 20% tariff on goods from China; that Apple was able/willing to lower the price, knowing that, is admirable.
Seems de rigueur for them at this point. Not surprising though -- slip in a new chip, call it day (and call it "New").
One thing I would. Be curious is if the screen isn’t cleaned properly will it degrade over time, or degrade even from proper cleaning. The nano texture screen reduces glare significantly. However, it also makes it harder to clean, and text fuzzier. I actually prefer matte screens for desktops, but not so much for laptops. However, I have the luxury of be able to buy both for my usage. I know a lot of people buy laptops as their sole "desktop" these days.
No I haven’t heard any rumor of Tb5 because the base M4 only supports tb4 not 5So the rumor was three Thunderbolt 5 ports, and the reality is two Thunderbolt 4 ports. Weak. Even three Thunderbolt 4 would have been a great step.
