Im wondering how this graphic card will do with Photoshop and Lightroom. I'm less concerned about Lightroom since it doesn't use the graphics card much.

Look, it didn't even kill anyone at Apple to release a computer with a variety of ports!

Still, this seems very expensive.... I currently have a Mini Server (with 2 upgradeable HDD slots that came with 2x1TB HDDs, 2.3GHz i7 quad-core, 16 RAM, HD 3000?) which cost about $1200 (including RAM upgrade).

To spec something close:
3.0GHz i5 hexa-core
8GB RAM (I assume I can upgrade for about $100-200)
512GB SSD (should be the minimum; non-upgradeable)
UHD 630
$1299 PLUS RAM Upgrade.

3.2GHz i7 hexa-core
8GB RAM (I assume I can upgrade for about $100-200)
512GB SSD (should be the minimum; non-upgradeable)
UHD 630
$1499 PLUS RAM Upgrade.

My question: do these CPUs have hyper-threading?

Sorry, the i3 quad-core is a joke for a desktop computer.

Can you upgrade the RAM yourself? If so, this might be an option.

Otherwise I priced it out and it's $2599 to get the config I want with 3.2GHz 6 core, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD. Thinking it might be smarter to get a 5K iMac, which will also have a beautiful display and discrete GPU for not a lot more after you factor in an external GPU for the Mini. Wish they had upgraded the iMac today. Can't believe no iMac in 2018 at all. Holding out hope for a spec bump in the coming months.

A dream come true and shattered into pieces, because of the price. Of course there's no since of getting this without a 4k or 5k monitor.

I do not actually believe it!!!!

My 2011 MacBook Pro I was watching the livestream on, couldn’t believe it either. It literally gave its final breath and died immediately after the announcement (how’s that for planned obsolescence?)

Finally, an Apple product I want to buy!! So much better than I was expecting (I’ve learned to set my expectations low). The first Apple keynote I’ve genuinely been excited about, in a long while.

We can now celibate the 10 years without competitive computer launches from apple. Is the Mac now official dead?
