I'm in that lucky position that I have an MBP 13" (top of the range spec) on order (due for delivery 1st week Dec) and can see the new gear and decide to cancel or not.. usually they bring something out and discontinue what I want!

Awesome, AS Macs are coming ... but "one more thing", I know it was Steve Job's tagline, but as far as I remember it was literally 1 thing, so no airtime or anything else rumored ...

Apple said at the WWDC announcement that they were working with Adobe to bring the creative cloud apps to the new Apple silicon Macs. When is anyone’s guess, however, with Rosetta, I imagine the current x86 versions should run.
Adobe’s been hard at work bringing their engine to ARM for awhile. Their apps for the iPad are using that updated engine. And, with the Mac having a same class processor, bringing that work to the Mac will be straightforward. I expect Photoshop and Illustrator (based on their recent release of an iPad app) on day one, others as time goes by.

True, but
A14 = TPD of 6W
A12X/A12Z = TPD of 15W

I think with the smaller die size of the A14X/T/Z they should get the TPD closer to 8W-10W.

So to add to your statement, Apple has the R&D team to incorporate a larger battery with an A14X on an iPhone. They chose not to.
I believe Apple knows what they are doing, and design the CPUs for the particular device constraints. Look at it this way: Apple wouldn’t artificially limit the A14X/T just so that it can still also operate in an iPhone. Next year there will be an improved A15 that again specifically targets the iPhone design constraints. It doesn’t make sense for the strongest CPU to work in all kind of Apple devices, unless you want them to be limited to the smallest common denominator.

Big Sur release hopefully :D
Part of me thinks maybe I should have waited with the MacBook purchase until after Apple Silicon but then I did need a new laptop...
I would like to see a Big Sur release as I am a developer who wants to flip the switch on Mac Catalyst, but don't want to put beta code on my Mac.

Wow they’ve really been able to keep the leaks under control on this one
Which didn't stop the leakers from leaking and the casual consumer tech advertisers, like Macrumors, from endlessly reporting on every educated guess, however.

I'm curious if they end up using the same Ax chip in the macbook air and the pro. In the past the air used a much lower wattage chip to save on power, but that may not be necessary now.

Might also just be the same A12x/A14 type chip clocked at different speeds (lower/more energy efficient 6w-10w TDP for the air more similar to an iPhone/iPad, and let it ramp up to 20-25w for the mbpro?)

For comparison, the 2020 MBP 13" running intel is ~28w TDP.

Finally ! I had a big app update (Textify) ready for Big Sur just before previous Apple event. Worked hard to get it ready.
I was wrong and Big Sur was not released. Now it's waiting for the actual release.

This event should be interesting, one week to go.

The final innovation is this first AS MacBook will be priced at $4599 (crowd screams and fanboys removes Tim’s pants before screen fades to black).

14” MacBook Pro with dedicated graphics on the AS and same or less price than the current 13” high end MBP and I will buy immediately. No question.

14" MBP please. My wallet is ready!
Heard a little bird about a redesign of the old 12". Could it come back as a 14" with apple silicon?
Also heard Apple is seriously concerned about being outclassed in the GPUs with the current laptops. Not sure if that will lead to something in a week.

I'm hoping Apple will reduce the entry level MacBook price. It seems to me that, without the need to pay Intel and the possibility to reduce battery size, the cost to produce AS laptops will now be much closer to what it costs to build iPads. Small, lightweight, limited but good enough performance and decent build quality at 7-800$ would sell well.

Trade in value of my 2019 MacBook Air is around $550 now. I can get some refund for Apple Care on top of that as well possibly.

Does anyone know if this value would decrease as soon as a new Macbook with Apple silicon announced next week?
