#3 you can count on. #1 is completely over the top nonsense. #2 is possible but don't be disappointed if it's not that much in battery life, no matter the model.
I don't think that it is "completely over the top nonsense" that Apple's chips will outperform Intel's (on the low and middle level), because that's exactly how they advertise the iPad Pro: Faster than most laptops. And that's a very slim device with limited battery capacity and no active cooling. If you add a bigger battery and some nice fans you can add even more cores and crank up the power. Or is there something I am overlooking?

I am pretty sure Apple's chip team has some aces up their sleeves they have not talked about yet.

How well they will perform on the high-end (desktop) level I don't know. But I am very optimistic about everything from Mac mini to MacBook Air and both MacBook Pros.

Looking forward to knowing more about the Apple Silicon Macs. I'm stuck waiting - should I buy a last generation Intel iMac or wait? My iMac (used daily for work ) is 3 years old now, almost 4, I need/want to upgrade but need the Adobe suite working. So...ugh.
I have the exact same question for use with Adobe CC.

Maybe they will introduce the new ARM-based Macs without any ports, except 1 USB-C, just a power cable. ;)
Everything will be WiFi and BlueTooth based.

This is interesting to me as, depending on how it lines up, it could be similar to something I was predicting... performance, battery life and other features between the two would be the same and the primary difference would be the number of ports and/or expansion options available. This is how Apple does things with their iPads, was thinking this might carry over to their Apple Silicon Macs.
Performance generally isn't the same between the Air and Pro iPads. Right now we're in a weird time because the Air has a newer chip than the Pro, but generally the Pro has the X/Z version of whatever chip the Air has, with more cores.. so better performance namely in the graphics department. Although, the Pro version of the iPhone does have the same processor as the normal version..

I am so intrigued and excited to see how they structure their post-Intel lineup of computers. And it all kicks off in 8 days! Woo 🥳

Because they require too much power (larger battery).
True, but
A14 = TPD of 6W
A12X/A12Z = TPD of 15W

I think with the smaller die size of the A14X/T/Z they should get the TPD closer to 8W-10W.

So to add to your statement, Apple has the R&D team to incorporate a larger battery with an A14X on an iPhone. They chose not to.

I’m hoping for an iPad Pro update, but haven’t heard of any leaks. Considering the new MacBook is supposed to have an A14X, maybe it’s possible? Has anyone heard anything?

One More Thing!!!

We are finally getting new product innovations!
New processors aren’t innovation. There is no next big thing in sight. It makes no sense at all to ask for more „innovation“ than improving computers and smartphones further and further.
That’s what’s happening.
Maybe that glasses will be a thing but even they will be an extension of you smartphone. And the smartphone of today has been invented in 2007 when small high-res screens and powerful low power chips became available to the consumer market.
You cannot turn back time or well, that really would be a next big thing.

This is not how Apple thinks in my opinion. They have built up the iPad to be a very strong MacBook competitor at the low end for example. The iPad Air plus keyboard is a very capable and comparably cheap MacBook alternative for a lot of people. The iPad Pro directly competes with the MacBook Air. Apple also didn't have any second thoughts about "killing" the iPod by integrating a better version of it into the iPhone.

If people would want to use their iPhone as a computer and if they could make it work so that it is actually a good user experience, they would do it. They are smart enough to cannibalize themselves rather than being cannibalized by others :)
However awful phones might have been before the iPhone, music players were becoming standard on every handset. It was inevitable that the iPod market was going disappear. Apple had no option but to make sure they took that market. There’s nothing inevitable about the laptop market disappearing.

I'll turn the question around - why would they? It would be like sticking a V8 on a lawnmower - using 10 times the fuel for performance that you didn't need and couldn't even use.
The same reason people are disappointed in the GB and Antutu scores of the A14 over the A13. So what you are saying is that the iPhone should have modest gains year to year rather than be flagship and revolutionary? Also, should the Pro Series have the same processor as the 12 and 12 Mini? The mindset of Apple with a Pro Series phone is to go all out and not make it marginally better than a non-flagship phone. Set the bar high as nothing can reach it and make it incrementally better each year. That's what a Pro product should be about.

Battery life. These chips will consume more power than the standard A14, and produced more heat. iPads and MacBooks have the space for a larger battery and better cooling solutions.
Based on phone design, the Apple design team can accommodate a larger battery in an iPhone. Again they chose not to...

Better yet, the Apple Team can place the A12, A14 in an iPad, why not try the same in an iPhone with an A14X. Placing a A14 didn't increase the battery life on the iPad.

#1. "Completely over the top nonsense"? Really? Let's see, for the A14X (which already powers the new iPads) Geekbench 5 gives it a score of 7480, almost on par with an i9 9880H, and the chis powering the new Macs are not going to be the A14X. "Blowing Intel out of the water" might be an exaggeration, but no, it's definitely not "completely over the top nonsense".
#2. I agree: it's possible, and probably not true for all models.
#3. Thank you.

14" MBP please. My wallet is ready!

Reliable leakers on Twitter are saying there will be 2 x 13" notebooks. Digging a little further, it looks like exactly the same chassis as current 13" MBA & 13" MBP, just with Apple silicon with a proper redesign not coming until well into next year.

Guess we won't have long to find out.
