Now I’m just hoping the U.S. gets through the election with nothing crazy happening. If there are massive protests like there were this summer, I could see Apple postponing the event, just like Sony did with the PS5 announcement during the BLM stuff and other companies soon followed.

(I’m also hoping the U.S. makes it through the election, because, you know, democracy and stuff too... but like, I really want my ARM Mac please, lol)

If they release any new MacBooks, the event graphic has me wondering if the glowing Apple logo will return.

Hopefully the real MagSafe makes a comeback, too.
I'm really hoping for both of those things!! Both (but especially MagSafe) kind of make me want to continue holding onto my 2015 MacBook Pro in hopes that they'll eventually come back.

It would be interesting if Apple introduced a phone with Apple Silicon, including more RAM, that could function as a Mac. Connect it wirelessly to a monitor/TV (via a dongle as they generally don't have wireless connectivity), keyboard, and mouse/trackpad for a very flexible device.

The performance could be there of a reasonable computer for many. And as an extension of the idea, take away the screen and battery for a tiny Mac Nano.
They’d sell less Macs. I don’t think they’d want that.

Damn...now I gotta decide if I should keep this 11" iPad Air 4 or maybe go MacBook Air with a 13" display and similar A14 chip. Plus I wouldn't have to fork out $300 for a keyboard.

I don't really agree with the claims some here make that the ARM is going to be enormous leap in power. Don't get me wrong they are all going to both faster than the 8th gen macbook pro intel and the U-series in macbook air which is where Apple is placing its bar. The pro and the air 13inch will be the perfect start for ARM and I think that the graph they showed at WWDC is key, they want to show that they now can raise both the power and the battery life.

The Air is going to be faster than the current Macbook Pro (8th gen) 13inch and provide you with "all day battery"( 15 hours or something).

The Pro is of course going to be faster than the current one and have like a 12-13 hour battery like the current air.

It will make with easy comparisons with current models and show big gains in performance and battery.

Too much coincidence / synergy with the Microsoft Nov 10th Xbox event to NOT include that as ALSO having some Play in what will be announced !

See the Xbox article & thread here on MR from just a-little while ago !

Sony PS announcement on Nov 12th, as well !
Nintendo just announced a couple games last week that use the “one download per app” model (two Ubisoft games) that Apple’s OK with. While a web app might be a way to go, there’s nothing preventing them from just making the apps available separately at this point.

I for one hope it never returns—facing a bright window, light can shine through the logo and project through the display. Infuriatingly annoying.
Noooo, you see, micro LED’s facing outward only :D No hole in the screen AND you can play a hypnotic animation LOL

I cannot wait to see this! All ARM questions will finally be answered.
Unfortunately, not likely ALL questions, but a good chunk for sure.

Oooh, AirTags! Can I use them to stalk people by attaching them to their car? There's a cute little waitress in my local diner...

Of COURSE I won't be using AirTags to stalk people! I will be sticking to traditional methods.

Don't panic. I'm not a stalker. But now, I'm worried about people who might want to stalk me.

I really want a 14" MB, MBA or MBP. For my needs the 16" is overkill size and spec-wise, but I'd like something a tad bigger than my 2015 13" MBA. A 14" laptop with a 16:10 aspect ratio would be a decent compromise. I write and do light photo editing, so I don't need a powerhouse. I'm waving my credit card in the air (no pun intended) Apple!

LOvetodream just leaked it’s only the 13 inch getting released. So disappointing if there’s no redesign. Given how Apple are leaning into Dolby Vision on the iPhone, any new Mac that doesn’t have hdr is dead on arrival to me.
Well, seeing as how the HDR abilities in the iPhone are provided by the processor AND that processor will be in the Apple Silicon Mac, then you could very well see a 13 inch that has HDR and can edit multiple streams of 4k simultaneously.

"13 inch X 2" - l0vetodream

Probably just a 13" MBA and 13" MBP :/
This is interesting to me as, depending on how it lines up, it could be similar to something I was predicting... performance, battery life and other features between the two would be the same and the primary difference would be the number of ports and/or expansion options available. This is how Apple does things with their iPads, was thinking this might carry over to their Apple Silicon Macs.

They’d sell less Macs. I don’t think they’d want that.
This is not how Apple thinks in my opinion. They have built up the iPad to be a very strong MacBook competitor at the low end for example. The iPad Air plus keyboard is a very capable and comparably cheap MacBook alternative for a lot of people. The iPad Pro directly competes with the MacBook Air. Apple also didn't have any second thoughts about "killing" the iPod by integrating a better version of it into the iPhone.

If people would want to use their iPhone as a computer and if they could make it work so that it is actually a good user experience, they would do it. They are smart enough to cannibalize themselves rather than being cannibalized by others :)

Question:

If I need a new computer (haven’t decided between 27” iMac or 13” MBP), should I buy this week, or wait?

I’m concerned about the new Silicone chip not being compatible with Adobe CC products at launch, and that’s non-negotiable.

From what I understand, there will be a period of incompatibility for certain software while Apple switches over.

The whole point of silicone macs is to intergrate apps across all devices.

iMacs will run procreate natively and will basically look like massive iPads that can go horizontal when needed. MacBooks are now obsolete...who needs a MacBook in a world of iPad with keyboard/trackpad add on?

Soon, choice at checkout will be iPad plus keyboard ( keyboard will have all necessary connections ) , or iPad on its own. But no MacBooks.

MacBooks are pointless. iPad that doubles as a 'MacBook' when needed is the future of portable.
