Skipped through it and sadly, it was pretty bad. Not interested in any of the shows. I do wish Apple has success with these ventures. I see they want to get in on the credit card action ...

If the last couple years have taught us anything it's that CELEBRITY voices don't matter (...well maybe one). In fact, the more celebrities that pile on to a message, the more likely it is to fail. Celebrity support for something is the kiss of death. This was the most painfully boring (and somewhat predictable) Apple keynote to-date... toward the end I'm like all that's missing from this sh*tshow is f-in Oprah and GD, thar she blows!

Even the BS diversity and inclusion that was in your face just for the sake of D&I was predictable... oh who could we possibly get to talk about gaming... oh I know! How about an Asian?? And while we're at it, let's make her female. Yeah! 2 for 1!

I am curious.... how did you determine the quality of the shows that have not been released?

I find your lack of "boom" disturbing.

Credit Card US
News+ US and two other
A bunch of US centric Tv shows

They said "It isn't us or them", but there is sure a lot of US only.
Which is why I love Netflix. I’ve never been one for foreign shows but dang, other countries have great story lines, actors, cinematography. They may not be block busters or have a huge budget, but they are quite good (the break, marcella, 3%, the rain, collateral).

It’s gonna take some pretty deep pockets to snatch the content makers away from Netflix.
1: Jeez, I wonder if Apple has deep pockets.
2: Content makers are happy to work for any reputable “label” that will bank their project/production
3: A majority of Netflix content was NOT made for Netflix. according to a data analysis from 7Park Data, which found that 80% of Netflix U.S. viewing is from licensed content with 20% from original shows like “House of Cards” or “Stranger Things.” The firm also found that 42% of Netflix subscribers watch mostly licensed content (95% or more of their total streaming). Just 18% of Netflix’s U.S. streaming customers are “originals dominant,” whose viewing comprises 40%-100% of originals, according to 7Park. Netflix is like HBO, lots of programming to see, but a surprisingly small portion of it is their own content. All that content can have it’s license expire/or not renewed.

It is a family oriented streaming TV service with expensive Apple exclusive produced content that filled with PC topics and children oriented shows that are only watch by moms and dads. Most of the content will be documentaries, nature stories and family comedies. No violent content, no cop shows, no hard hitting drama. No sure about sports!

I’m a hardcore atheist. If the filmmaker wants a cross in a scene that should be their decision and not some corporate decision based on whatever other religions or groups it offends.

Whomever pays the bill, has the last say. Don’t like it ignor it or don’t subscribe, you are permitted to decide. I am not defending anyone or supporting any action. If you were paying the bill, you can voice your concerns to the director. ;)

Looks like Apple has forever given up on trying to create an actual cable replacement, with say, channels and live programming. Steve Jobs did say he finally cracked TV... we now know that was a literal reference after antenna gate, in where he threw something at the TV screen, thereby cracking it. I want a plan with 4 live news channels, and everything else on-demand, cost based on how many shows I watch. Networks be gone.
[doublepost=1553557590][/doublepost]Is anyone else sick and tired of subscriptions btw? When the cable bundle looks like a good deal, something went very wrong.

I agree not everything has to be violence but Apple should allow creators do whatever they want even if they made an adult section for it I’m all for but Apple is just doing there way approach.
How do you know they won't? People say the same thing when Disney acquires a new property even 20 years after a hillbilly police officer raped a ball gag wearing Ving Rames while a leather clad gimp watched on. Disney has gone way out on a limb with some of their movies; what makes Apple different. They're not forcing you to buy censored music from iTunes.

Rushed and unpolished. No pricing information. And some of you are excited about it? Just because it is Apple? What if Toyota spent a few billion and started a streaming service with original content? I’ll bet none of you would give it a passing glance.

Yeah, because that’s an apt analogy. :p

What could this DVD rental service possibly know about making original content?

I’m making a normative argument, you are making a positive argument.

One fun note: Taylor Swift criticized Spotify, later it was announced that she's partnered with Apple. Steven Spielberg criticized Netflix, later it was announced that he's partnered with Apple.

I think Spielberg shouldn't have criticized Netflix, a streaming service and nor should Taylor since they both get paid for their work by these services. But that's competition I would say.

Nah, but Europe’s a much bigger market than the US with much more potential for growth. Don’t really care as Apple has been on its way out here for quite some time. They’re already pretty much gone in most sectors (phone sales, edu market, never really been here in services to start with) so if they think can survive in the US then good for them.

I think 2/3 of the iPhones profit comes from the international market like the rest of their services and other products while only 1/3 of the profit comes from the USA. So yeah, if Apple where to be smart they would have launch everything worldwide. For Example it took Apple Pay several years to expand outside the USA to more than 10 countries. This is unacceptable.

Just think...guessing here $9.99/m for news, $14.99 for Arcade, $19.99/m for TV, $9.99/ for Music, and lastly, $.99 for a usable iCloud storage.
^That's why I hate subscriptions. Forget about all the other bills in life, just the above without taxes is $54.95/m. Thats a lot to ask from a general population that struggles just to cover rent.

True, but with a free library card, and their library app, which will allow you to check out music and books online, even someone struggling has access to information and entertainment, even if you can only physically get to a library a few times a year. When I was a kid and my family was struggling, the library played a big part in keeping me stable, so I recommend them whenever I can.

Netflix's 'Kingdom' (Korean zombie drama set in a past period) is high on my very long 'To Watch' Netflix list. And yes, I was hoping Apple would not be as focused on Hollywood produced content, but I guess they have to start somewhere, and that's where the majority of the media is from, so...

His Apple TV-

Many people, myself included warned others that a la carte tv would be very expensive.

Now everyone is seeing that bundled pay tv was actually a great deal. And a la carte is not the dream they envisioned.

TV content is EXPENSIVE to produce, and no studio is going to give it away for cheap.

Underwhelming, especially since it’s U.S. only on launch. No surprise - good luck Apple tackling the CRTC in Canada over content licensing.

I don’t think this is what Steve meant when he said he cracked it. Apple missed that opportunity.

I think today’s event was just a taster for these shows and movies, more will probably be ready by the time Apple TV+ launches in the fall.

I’m hoping to see some great content :D

They mentioned around 100 countries, I’m hoping the U.K. is one of them!
I’m sure we would be.

I’m upset about the magazine subscription not being ready today. I was really looking forward to that!

This is a major reason why millennials are not saving money. It's very obvious you're wasting money or going in over your head when you buy a $60,000 car or a $500,000 house, but another $6.99/month isn't going to hurt anyone, is it?

Except it does. Young people are renting storage and movies and music and using DoorDash and Uber and look at how many weekly meals-in-a-box startups there are! As was said you can't even use Photoshop without paying every g**da*n month for the privilege.

Next thing you know there's nothing left from your paycheck and you're not saving a dime for retirement.

Everyday I’m glad I completed a 21 year reserve military career which qualifies for a retirement and am currently a teacher with a good State retirement. If I had to save myself I’d be in trouble! When I turn 60 I can be finished working. Sadly a lot of people don’t have jobs with good retirement plans built-in.

With that said, I’m not sure Apple is going to see a lot of success with this with the current level of good competition in this area. Heck I have many different options of things I can watch and a lot of times I just spend the evening watching stuff on YouTube for free.

I hope Speiberg's series is nominated for an Emmy just so someone can tell him that streaming productions shouldn't qualify.

Tesla needs to try its hand at doing what Apple used to do, because Apple has clearly checked out.

I'm hoping Apple is so successful with this next leg of their consumer focus that they seriously consider selling off MacOS to a pro-centric brand.
