What about proper UI Scaling in OSX? Do we really need to wait before they announce a 5k display to get a true retina 27" screen with osx on it?

And what about those disgusting UGLY teal folder icons???

It's nice that Apple is not neglecting OSX and some of the new features might be useful, but I was hoping for a better finder. The poor file management is really holding the platform back IMO.

Gotta love all the ex-PC fanatics who switched to Mac a few years ago for "trend reasons" telling us how much they love the design. Well of course you do lol.
Warning: expect comments from a few long-time Apple users who will tell me how awesome they find it as well, to prove me wrong.

It's okay honestly. Nothing too bad, but not a real hit or anything either… we'll survive.

I don't really like the new UI look that much, but it's not quite as bad as I feared it might be. It's all been downhill since Leopard anyway IMHO, the skeuomorphic design was certainly getting ridiculous, but they've gone to the other extreme now, hopefully (for my tastes) it will all balance out eventually. YMMV of course.

one thing no one mentioned and i really loved the idea of is the native dark menu bar..... i think that's awesome!

Here is something weird I've never seen before.

When trying to get yosemite in the mac dev center (which is still down) I went over to the ios dev center to see how that is going. That one is up and you can get ios 8 there if you want to.

But the weird thing is that I could get a redemption code for os x yosemite IN THE IOS DEV CENTER!

So I'm downloading yosemite now and it shows up in my purchases tab as

"OS X 10.10 Developer Preview"

But I went via the ios dev center, not the mac dev center. That's weird.

No, if you have wifi , whats the point? If you dont have wifi for your mac, your iphone's data plan will work as wifi for your mac

that by the way is great, setting up and connecting t the hotspot everythme is such a pain now...

Great stuff.

I just don't think that the mentioning Microsoft and Android was necessary. I prefer it better when Apple just ignores the competition on their live events.

I think it was Steve Jobs that said " microsoft doesn't have to fail for apple to succeed " so I guess no new phone or hardware? Waste of my time watching, I can't up grade any go my systems anymore.

That was a real yawn fest. Sat patiently waiting for the rumoured hardware announcements. Most of that stuff didn't warrant a keynote. I really miss the annual MacWorld keynote every January.

The 3D dock is gone

Hooray! I've never cared for it, and the tiny white dots to indicate an open program were almost invisible. The new dock is much more functional, IMO. And it makes me feel nostalgic for Panther. :)

I'm really looking forward to Yosemite. And Craig Federighi did a great job presenting it all.

And BTW, by "later this summer" I hope they mean in August rather than September 20th. ;)
