There IS ethernet, and this is a replacement for the entry-level 21.5" iMac, you have to compare it to that so user upgradeable RAM was never in the cards for this particular model.Design downgrade (IMO), no ethernet, smaller than the 27", no user upgradeable RAM... no thanks.
The new iMac looks cheap in comparison. Generic Computer. No style. A total bore as compared to the last model.Everyone complaining about the colors and the white bezel, look at this picture from Apple. Which devices look dated and which ones look fresh?

You aren't, I said earlier in the thread I like it too. Though we are for sure in the minority here.Even if I'm alone.
You're not the only one. In most of my whatsapp groups with non techies (friends, families, customers) I'd say around 90% of them love it, especially the colours. I saw a lot of messages like "That one goes great in the living room with X color" and "The blue one is perfect with my accent wall".. I'm gonna say it. Even if I'm alone.
I LOVE the new design. It's 99% perfect. -1% for the straight stand, I preferred the tapered one, it looked more harmonic.
I actually did a happy dance over the white bezels. I missed the white iMac ever since they switched to silver/black in ... 2007? I don't mind what everyone calls the "chin", not even at all.
Browser, Teams, compiling and virtualisation at the same time still require at least 16GB RAM nowadays. Also some of you don't understand how 8 and 16gb RAM runs with M1 chip.
This ain't ya grandmama's Intel.
Someone better tell iPad Pro it's missing it's chin! For those of you whining about the 'chin'... you do realize that it's necessary to put chip, motherboard and heatsink/cooler there... right? You can't put them beneath the display, or put it where the stand is.
Also, for those using Macs to do real work, that chin is a nice place for sticking Post-it notes.
If you already own a Mac, I don't think you should upgrade. We're still in the Apple silicon 'transition period', so waiting for the software devs to update their code. And the M1 is a first gen product. Give it another year, wait for the M2 chip.
Prosumers? Well, this thread here is for them and we see how they react to it.

Nothing like scumming up your aesthetic new colorful iMac with garbage post-it notes!
That's right:There IS ethernet, and this is a replacement for the entry-level 21.5" iMac, you have to compare it to that so user upgradeable RAM was never in the cards for this particular model.
The 27" refresh (whatever size it will be) will come later in the year.
You misspelt “whiners”Prosumers? Well, this thread here is for them and we see how they react to it.
Same here. I plug in to an external amp and speaker system...The headphone socket on the side is super-annoying. I use a pair of Bose desktop speakers which discreetly plug into the back of my 2015 iMac. Will I have to have the speaker jack permanently jutting out of the side of the new machine?
The chin... why?![]()
What's up with the Chin?
The perfect chance to get rid of the chin...
IT STILL HAS A CHIN?!?!?!WHY!!!
Oof...The chin 🤮
But still why that hideous chin? 🙀
The chin and bezels are really from a bygone era. Come on Apple, it’s 2021.
So what? They could have easily put this behind the screen! The 'chin' is where the compute unit, speakers and cooling fans/exhaust/inlets are. It literally said and described this during the video.
The rest of the chassis is just for the display and antennas.
