Like that midnight color, and the only thing that I dont like more than abnormally big looking notch is its pricing.
Getting one with 16/512GB combo just makes 14" Pro seem like much better option.
And its pity that they didnt lower then previous generation, M1 Air's price or discontinue it altogether, I would certainly get one on sale when M2 Air's will hit the shelves.
Agree, but the 14 inch is so much thicker and bulbous looking in comparison. The M2 MBA has superior battery life as well.

It's great and I love the new fanless design. However, why is there support for only ONE external display? That's a huge deal breaker for me! :( Yes, I'm aware of a "DisplayLink" docking station and own one, but it's not the same as having native dual display support (e.g. can't watch HDCP protected movies via TV App etc.).

Grab the 14 M1 Pro

I don’t understand how this is constantly brought up. They WANT you to buy a pro for pro features.

Why does everyone constantly expect Apple to suddenly offee these features at their base model price points? The entire point is to allow everyone across tax brackets to join the ecosystem. They’re never going to stop doing this.

Hmm, I was really thinking of selling my MBP 14” 8cpu/14gpu/16gb/1tb for the new MBA with 8cpu/8cpu/16gb/1tb since I don’t really need the extra power/nicer screen. But I only paid $2035 for it and pricing out the MBA is $1800 and maybe $1650-$1700 with a discount. Getting back $100-$200 doesn’t really seem worth it.

Great decisions in the design (colors, black bezels, back to color background of keys, size, shape). but a miss in other areas. I listed the things I’d like to see improved/changed from my M1 MBA and they missed all of them.

1) additional usb-c port with ports on both sides. I would have been ok with the two with MagSafe back if one was on each side.
2) support for two external 4K 60hz displays.
3) Upgraded Standard config (not the base) to go from 8/512 to 16/512. I probably would have been ok if the would have went to 12/512 and actually thought for a second the M2 was going to be 12 standard!

I am giving my current MBA M1 to my nephew and am now leaning towards keeping the 14 MBP I just received last week.

This MacBook Air is definitely only for people who cares about weight of their Mac. MacBook Air isn't "cheaper" or "budget" Mac anymore.

Is it really the world's "best-selling laptop"? That's great, if true, but I find it hard to believe. I've loved my two Airs since getting one in 2013. I'm sad to see the "Air" name no longer apply to the design of the laptop, though. How thin and light is the new one? Maybe the name is justified?

Yeah I was gonna also consider getting a more “budget” version for the gf since she’s could use an upgrade, but even the 8/8/8/512 is $1400 and most likely she needs 1TB as well, which is then $1600.

Still 8GB of ram. I thought they would have mentioned it if they were increasing the ram or storage.

Options for 16GB or 24GB. $200 and $400 to upgrade.

8 core GPU in the base model and 10 core in the higher-end version.

An increase of £250-£300 for those of us in the UK, so quite steep, but the exchange rate has weakened. For example, £1,749 for one with 16GB of ram and 512GB of storage is high.

Think I'll be waiting a while to upgrade from my current M1 Air. The new one looks good but I doubt that I'll notice much difference.
Does the introduction of virtual shared memory render RAM upgrade unnecessary for all but pro users?

Awsome news. Wonder if the M2 is faster than the M1 Max in the Pro line? If so I might have to sell and get the newer version. The M1 hasn't been utilized properly so far. Hoping developers and the OS can take advantage of the M2
Likely faster in single core performance, but, with only 4 performance cores, anything using multiple cores will still be much faster on the M1 Max. Same thing with GPU. If you need the performance, then you are probably better off sticking with your MBP with M1 Max.
