1Password just updated again. 3.2.1 is the latest version and YES works with Safari 5!

They're always so fast with their updates. Just one more reason why this is one of my favorite Mac apps. I don't know how I lived without it. Seriously.

Agile is one of my favorite companies on the Mac, they are true Mac developers that also happens to be hardcore Mac users, so it explains where the passion is coming from. They are working on Knox right now, making it more better.

They might be hardcore mac devs but you know they have a windows version coming right?

..."Apple just issued a press release announcing the launch of Safari 5, but it hasn't been officially posted on their site."...
..."Update 2: Apple has now officially posted the press release announcing Safari 5"...

Was it ever un-officially posted on Apple's website?

Sorry, just a pet-peeve of mine...people who unnecessarily use the word officially, and who do it faaaaaaar too often...

:)
And Panic has just demo'd their first Safari Extension "Coda Notes" on stage
at the WWDC'10 —a few minutes ago.

Safari now starts up and loads pages almost instantly! I was getting really frustrated with that pin wheel before!

The very first time that I tried it, pages loaded very slowly, but I have since quit the browser and restarted it and it is extremely snappy now. I think it was gathering information on my Top Sites the first time.

well I have installed 5.0 and I am giving it a shot now. I am going to try and use safari for now just because Chrome has been abusing my memory lately, and I gave up firefox for chrome for the same reason.

I will see if safari is any better. I probably would not change, but I realized that xmarks works on safari, so that makes it easy to switch over.

Actually, yes. It was then pulled shortly after

Hmm, the only thing missing now, is a full screen option. :(

Full-screen HTML5 video is available.

Oh, you mean full-screening the browser window to your entire monitor? The web doesn't work like that. No one wants to see that. Maximize works based on content, not based on giving you huge blank areas of screen.

crashed?

Downloaded it

Installed it

Rebooted

Blue screen with mouse pointer

5 minutes passes...

Forced reboot

Now have Safari 5.

Why the reboot? Chrome does not need it.

STILL no save all pages upon exit. I guess I stick with Chrome 4 now :-(

obviously it is personal preference and the ability for the browser to match your needs and I will certainly being spending some time with new Safari 5 however there are plenty of features of Opera that aren't there or will have to be added by extentions: Notes, Mouse gestures, Opera Turbo, Opera link, quick keyboard short cuts for scrolling through tabs visually as well as just about everything else via the preference editor. You can tweak and change Opera a lot of ways.

Like I said though I'll be checking it out and seeing what it has to offer as it might be the right tool for various jobs especially with the interesting reader feature however for me I see it to be my tool for specific jobs rather than the everday tool that I like, Opera.

I'm not big into a lot of those features, but I completely spaced out on Opera turbo and Opera link. I rely too much on those to switch all the way to Safari. I hope Opera gets the same reader functionality as Safari, because I'm finding it incredibly useful.

EDIT: And Opera Firefly is better than any developer tool on any other browser as far as I'm concerned.

I guess the old style Loading/progress bar is nice, but I've grown used to the Safari 4 loading spinner, does anyone know of a way to re-enable it?
(if not I hope that someone can develop an extension to add back this option)

So, someone at Apple posted and made available for download, on Apple.com, an un-official version of Safari?

Or, more correctly, did they post it and make it available for download pre-maturely?

My point was, people use the word "officially" waaay too often. A story on this site might read...

"Today, MacRumors.com was served with an order from attorneys at Apple which officially demanded that we remove from our official servers any pictures of [insert name of random product here] that we have officially posted. Apple claims that since there has not been an official release, or Apple has not officially posted any official photos..."

You get the idea...

Tried downloading 4.1 and it doesn't work. Whenever I click the Safari icon nothing happens. Apple is really pissing me off today.
