This "magic" is getting really old. I never looked it as magical even when it was announced. Just a larger more capable iPod touch that was more responsive. Thats it.
In fact your type of comment is getting old. I really hope you never looked it as magical - magic doesn't exist.

This is good news but... There is no competition yet. iPad hasn't won anything. Let's see how this market falls out in a year. One can't dismiss Android and HP/WebOS tablets just yet.
It has won some unknown part of the market Apple just created. Given that this market is quite probably not bigger than the netbook one, I would say they are winning big time.

Ahhh the magic of a giant iPod Touch that can't display the thousands of Flash sites. That's some lame magic.
Oh, please. It can display million others and cover for functionality with thousands of apps. Not that I disagree with your point, but let's not blow it out of proportions:)

Seems like the iPad will have a pretty good shelf life seeing that it's still in use in the 2360s! :p

Apple today announced that it has sold over two million iPads sold in less than 60 days since the device's initial launch in the U.S. on April 3rd.

Prediction:

Now one of those brilliant (hah!) Wall Street analysts will say "I predict that Apple will have sold 3 million iPads within a few months".

Wow, how insightful.

It continues to amaze me how people make such a big deal over what those analysts say. Really. Anyone who follows Apple and these Apple-news boards can make predictions as good if not better than those over-paid Wall Street idiots.

Besides, they were all predicted that Apple would fold or be sold a decade or so ago.

And about a third of those were bought by people standing in front of me in line at the Ginza Apple Store! The line was sooooo slow getting into the store to get me itchy fingers on one I waited close to 2 hours!

Great news for AAPL

I only hope this news gets censored in China, otherwise Foxconn International's remaining staff really will get demoralised!

What do you mean with "no competition"? There are plenty of competitors. Plenty of tablet computers out there. Their problem is they are so unsuccessful, you don't even know their names.

What world championship are you talking about? :p

All the competitors have retreated. That is their tactic as they work out the strategy. Android is in the 'me too' stage. It will take 9 months to a year for competitors to show up for the world meet. By that time, let Apple sell a million to million and a half a month to get to a head start on the installed base of 10-15 million. And the shadow effect it creates for Mac purchases can only be beneficial to Apple.

No doubt Apple has a head start. But then it did in 1984. Windows almost killed it a decade later. Google is like a tsunami. With its open environment and friendly attitude towards developers it sits in the same spot Windows once did - ready to swamp Apple and the iPad.

Exactly there's been tablet devices out there for years.

Considering that the products you mentioned are all vapourware... I'd say that iPad has won something.

Wonder how certain "we don't like what apple do ever" press will spin this.
Oh, just check out Engadget.
- blame it again on Apple's fanboys who will buy anything Apple without even needing it
- morons are buying it
- hype (again)
- Apple is making it up/PR stunt
- compare it to the sales of PC consoles and say 2M is nothing - which is quite funny - everyone compares the iPad to whatever suits them (phone, laptop, pc tablet, gaming console, etc.) and finally they regroup all the missing features from all the comparisons and say that this why the iPad sucks

These PC fanboys get cuter ever day, someone apparently forgot to feed this one breakfast, it's grumpy.

Scarily accurate

What is wrong with people? I know a few who bought the Wi-Fi model just because they could not wait for 3G to ship and then bought the 3G model. Scary - tomorrow Apple will ship a shiny paper weight in the name of simplicity and a promise to ship a 3G paperweight in 3 months and 6-8M people will still end up buying it :D

It's becoming a game of how swiftly and overwhelmingly can you fool people with traps! Masters of foolery shall sell the most goods and make the most profits - LOL the days of real innovation seem to have taken a hiatus!

Guess I should tell everybody at GE Healthcare to stop porting Centricity applications to iPad? It's not like doctors and nurses really every wanted to get rid of paper charts and take care of patients. After iPad is just paperweight.

iPad Experience

Some decry the less than "magical" experience of the iPad. While I rolled my eyes when Jobs announced it as a "magical" device, it's not as much less so as I would have thought. I bought a WiFi model on day one, then sold it and moved to a 3G when they became available. I still get a sense of wonder when I use it, which I find remarkable.

I use lots of gadgets, and at 40 years old have seen much happen in technology in the past 20 years. The iPad is the most impressive piece I have used out of anything else I have purchased or played with. If the iPad can only improve from here, I can't wait to see what the future holds!

Actually at this point yeah you can... Where are they? What are they? When are they?
