While I would love power and stability improvements all around, and under the hood improvements to drivers and APIs, I'd also love to see the integration between iOS and OS X finally done properly and completed. For instance:

Unified Clock/Alarm across all OS X and iOS devices.
Unified Do Not Disturb across... (plus allow me to set DND for specific events in my Calendar in addition to what they already have).
Unified Book/PDF reader across... (and synced through iCloud).
Unified iWork/iLife across... (i.e. include feature parity to the iOS apps so the syncing works properly).
Unified Safari across... (i.e. add in extensions to mobile Safari so that I can finally have the identical experience on either platform).

Plus: they really should finish the enhancements to Mission Control, regarding the managing of full-screen apps in single and multiple external displays, + fully restoring the order/arrangement upon reboots.

Plus Plus: Fix Time Machine once and for all. This is supposed to restore your entire system, so have it actually restore the system 100%, including the hidden partition so that we don't lose functionality like find my mac, requiring a re-installation of OS X after restoring through time machine.

Excellent points, agreed on all :)

Why? 10.8 isn't deprecated yet, and won't be even when 10.9 is released. One way or another 802.11ac support has to be built-in, so why not add it now? Perhaps you are right and this is some clue slipped in, but it looks like a stretch.

Yes it is a stretch but if Apple wanted to they could add the frameworks for 802.11ac in a build that came out just before any device with 802.11ac. I think they are doing it now to ready developers for the new standard.

The colours remind me of the colored Apple logo from the 80's.

I think you guys are reading way to much into this. Maybe it's just a pretty logo. Or as Freud said "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar"

Me too, I'm almost hoping for a vibrant return with Jony at the helm...lets make things fun and exciting again :)

I love it since all these de-skeuomorph concepts turn everything into shades of gray brushed aluminum. Watch Apple do nothing like that. :D

iWatch!

Roman Numerals indicate a watch face!

Its gonna be available in multiple colors. The iWatch is coming sooner than expected

I agree that the squares symbolise iOS app icons. But why are they on top of each other and semi transparent?

I don't see icons with a flat design coming. It is up to individual developers how to design their icons. I do think some flatness is coming to the rest of the UI (Ive at the UI helm), but I don't see it hinted here.

My bet goes to App Store for Apple TV. As for hardware, maybe an updated set top box. I think Cook hinted deliberately yesterday that we shouldn't expect big hardware announcements till fall 2013. Mac Pro is to be expected as well.

Not so sure it would make much sense to introduce a store for the current Apple TV as they would want that to be a killer feature for 'THE' Apple TV set.

Love the logo. And I think it really IS meant to convey the idea there will indeed be something new & fresh this year from Apple. Fingers crossed!

I hope they think big with iOS 7 !

Download folder would be nice.

Active icons

File sharing between apps is a big issue on iOS but even then I don't see a significant change coming. Almost any significant change would be very disruptive to developers. In a like manner though I'd love to see a standardized directory browser for local app documents. Every app handles this differently and that is a problem.

I'd love to see indications that iWork has had a major overhaul and that the suite is more developer friendly across all platforms. By developer friendly I mean the following. One file format for each iWork app on all platforms. Right now IWork compatibility sucks. Build in a modern form of scripting in all apps, possibly making use of JavaScript though at times I'd prefer Python or Crack. Actually extend the scripting to outside of the iWork Suite.

This is probably wishful thinking beyond any possibility of happening, but add drivers for USB to RS232 converters. This would allow us to turn iPads into awesome tools for embedded work. Right now the alternatives are to expensive to even consider.

MiFi in its present form is a mistake, corrections are needed.

Maybe you are right. I just can't imagine that television set happening. No one upgrades their TV sets often enough. The cpu and graphics power would be outdated in a few years, and people would have to upgrade the whole $1500 TV set just to run the latest games. Mobile SOCs get outdated quickly, and customers are not used to upgrading expensive TVs very often. That might lead to dissatisfied customers.

I have thought about this for months. I think Apple in the living room has huge potential and I think Apple will do what they can to dominate that space. But I can't figure out how they're gonna do it other than to keep iterating on the set top box.

One idea would be to release new Retina Thunderbolt Displays that can receive a wireless signal from an Apple TV box. That is, the two combined make an apple television. The difference is that you can replace the box with a new box every other year to be able to run the newest games and keep the Display. That would save apple from a bad situation, where a $1500 dollar TV is completely outdated cpu/gpu wise after 3-4 years. Just a thought.

All the people saying this is NOTHING like a logo Apple have done before have short memories.

Really short! In fact I'm sitting here wondering what in the hell are people smoking right now. The logo isn't that much more inspired than any others I've seen over the years.

They could make an actual cable box.
Surfing channels with your iphone, imdb or rotten tomatoes pops up when you hit info, etc.
you could put a lot more power in a cable box than an Apple TV. I think opening up the App Store to Apple TV could be a good idea but personally I would prefer channel by channel purchasing. I'd rather have 4 good channels than 1000 crappy ones.

Well, it's the typical saying...No one is taking the bet, so it shouldn't matter any. Guess you'll see if I am right when the time comes.

Take a closer look at that poster. It's suggesting that instead of neat grid of icons on the Home screen it will be one huge untidy stack of icons. New. Different. Innovative.
