WWDC Announcement Prediction: Apple going the way of Microsoft, and ios 10 will be the last ios version, like how Windows 10 is supposed to be the last version of Windows LOL.

Why do we need a 4 month warning for this event? Seems a bit premature for Apple to send out invitations.

For business people (it's a Developers Conference) 4 months is about the right amount of time to start planning for events like these. My firm is booked out for the next 6 months.

No chance, they would of teased it in the image and or wording. Plus WWDC is for developers not product announcements.

Yes, however they have in the past announced hardware and might this time. Here is what I think could happen:
Apple announce the new iPhone at wwdc 2017 and then sell it during the normal timeframe of September.

The reason I think this is because:
1) It enables Apple to 'wow' people/media as they all expect just software

2) It enables fewer leaks from screen parts to volume buttons as Apple will be announcing the iPhone before the manufacturing ramps up enough thus giving leakers less time. In past years this was no problem, however with this being 10 years since iPhone was shown to the world Apple would want to keep their powder dry.

3) It appears that Samsung will release the Note 8 in about August so if true means that potential Note 8 buyers could hold off from buying one as they will know what the new iPhone looks like and what features/specs it has. Thus they are happy to wait till September to get one.

4) The fact that the announcement for WWDC 2017 has been made so early in relation to previous years leads me to think that there is more than just usual software to be shown.

I could be wrong but I am going to put my cards down on the table and predict that we will see the next iPhone announced at WWDC 2017.

I wonder....

If it's just me who seems to dread any Apple keynote presentation these days.

Maybe you have a point, personally i don't think they will but we will see. Will developers need early access to alter there apps for the OLED screen? According to this article the ppi will increase also increase to around 521.

These things are just fun little tax write-off getaways for developers. Don't know why everyone makes such a big deal about it.

Good stuff! Google I/O and Build Conference in May, WWDC in June.

Pretty sad that out of those three, WWDC is the one I'm least excited about this year.

We want to help, but hard to know what to do you for you if you don't know what is going to happen at any of them but your are already feeling sad. Sorry, again we want to help, but are still scratching our heads.

Because millions of people all over the world watch it. There are almost always some exciting new product reveals, and aside from the keynote there are multiple days of classes and presentations that hundreds of thousands of people "attend."

No new iMac since the introduction of the 5k one.
No new iMac in March 2016.
No new iMac in November 2016.
No new iMac in March 2017 it seems either.

Can you just break up with me Apple, and let me know our love is over, and that you are stringing me along?

There are no alternatives, the macbook pro is not comparable, and $1000 more expensive with a 27" monitor. And it's the wrong video card, and no option to expand memory. There's no Mac Mini cluster I can build, and the Mac Pro is something you should be ashamed of right now.

Just let me know that there won't be an iMac this summer either. Or ever. So I can just build a Windows machine and cry myself to sleep.

As a fanboy, I am feeling grumpy, neglected, and irritated as to how things are going.

I honestly don't care about your music, your fashion, or your future tv or car products. They don't apply to me.

I just need to get stuff done, and I want a modern desktop to help me achieve that.

Just tired of this. And I don't care how others read what i write here, you don't know my life and how I use my devices or what an iMac over a laptop would mean for me, etc. You have your life and if you're happy with your choices: let me be happy with mine.

I just wish I had a choice and didn't have to wait years to get an update.

It's fine that we disagree. I'm not here to convert people to my way of thinking. If you love the SP4, that's awesome. I own one and my general feeling is, meh. I think it's a pretty good piece of hardware, but it still runs Windows. My preference is MacOS. I own a MBP (late 2013) and it performs great. It will be a workhorse for years to come. I certainly didn't spend $4K on it. I'm not sure how many consumers are spending $4K on any Mac. I'm sure that is a very, very small demographic. Anyway, glad you like your SP4. I guess my only point in even replying to you is my general frustration with people assuming the technology (or any) industry is a zero sum game. For Apple to do well, it doesn't mean Microsoft has to do bad. They can all win or all lose. Have a great day.

good point u have there: they can all win or all lose.

Most of the people saying "My 800€ XYZ computer costs way less than your friggin' 2-4k computer with an apple logo behind it", has in fact not have the chance to ever use these freaking computers. Most people judged a thing so quick that they did not even use it yet.

It is not about the price, it is all about having a personalised technology, that we all love. Have a great day.

Maybe dread is too strong.

Perhaps a slight 'nervous expectation'.

The way one might be nervous about what your strange Uncle Eugene will talk about around the children at your next family Christmas get together.

"Wow. And it comes in rose gold too, you say? That is...so...great, Eugene."

I don't know, for me its a good comedy session better than Google I/O for comedy.I like seeing white guys dance on stage things like that are funny. Or how many times they say "incredible", "Our best___ ever" etc. The Emoji stickers were very funny

Well what about the March event? A little bit premature no?

The March event might still happen, they have announced WWDC earlier probably because of the change in venue, it gives those attending a chance to sort out travel, hotels and so on. The March event is not related to this. I'm hoping there is a March event as well.

Just stop. Because when Tim DOESN'T announce new hardware at WWDC (because it's a DEVELOPER'S CONFERENCE) then we'll have to endure 25+ pages of posts from you and every other armchair expert here about how Apple is doomed, worst WWDC ever, worst keynote ever, Steve Jobs would never do this, where's updated MacBooks with FW 800 ports like I wanted blah, blah, everyone should be fired and on and on and on and on.

IT. IS. A. DEVELOPER'S. CONFERENCE.

Like I said, it's rare to have hardware.
But here's a thought...how about Tim just announcing something, anything awesome.
The unveiling of the Mac Pro and Swift programming were great. When you introduce some great stuff people respond accordingly. Funny how that works.

I'm not! I fully expect everyone here to moan, whine, and snark about how they didn't get what they want, Cupertino doesn't innovate anymore, Phil Schiller is stupid, and Tim Cook should be fired so they can Make Apple Great Again, and I won't be disappointed.
We'll just copy and paste this part of your comment after every Apple event. It'll save us time.

Apple always give hints in it's events designs, and from this design I'm pretty sure iOS 11 will focus on Social applications and FaceTime even more, there are so many people standing in 3+ groups which means group FaceTime calls (3 people and more)

No offence to Apple, but in solidarity to those banned from entering the US I won't be traveling there until this administration either changes it's position, not likely, or is defeated in an election. Apple should be holding this years WWDC outside the US frankly. I won't be traveling anywhere near the US until this garbage ends. Period.

This is great. San Francisco has become far too expensive for trade-shows. When you're spending $300 a night for a hotel, $25 per meal and $50 to Taxi from SFO to SOMA, it's becoming impossible for indie developers to spend $1599 plus another $1500 just for accommodations.

San Jose is far more affordable.
Apple didn't have much of a choice. Moscone Center in San Francisco is closed due to renovations for the next two years.

McEnery is the most suitable nearby alternative.

I agree, it's about what we personally enjoy. I am no Apple fanboy. Most of my devices are Apple, but I own non-Apple tech as well. I own an iPad mini 2 and it's the single most disappointing device I've owned in the past 10 years. It's an awkward size, underpowered and too little RAM. I really wanted to like it, but sadly I don't. Have a good day.

San Jose? Are they shooting for biggest suburban show in the Valley instead of painting downtown SF in Apple colours as usual?

This is where it was until 2002. Closer to Cupertino, so more engineers will be there. Disappointed it won't be on the new Spaceship Campus.

Because the same supply chain is now making the next iteration and don't have the supply nor capability to make both at the same capacity.

Hope this is the case, but it still doesn't seem like it is, products for the past were pretty much in stock until a week or two before the events (if my memory is correct) and it doesn't seem likely that it's particularly hard to keep up with the demand of the 12.9 (a niche iPad) over a year after its release when many potential buyers know how old it is and know it's due for an update. I had a thought this morning that maybe Apple is holding off because they're planning to introduce a radical new tablet OS at WWDC that they want to be released with the new tablet, but whatever the case I would find it incredibly depressing if Apple had to either be a chip generation behind the iPhone on their supercomputer tablets, or to skip a generation because of their desire to introduce it after the iPhone leading to a two year cycle.

This summer we bring together thousands of brilliant minds representing many diverse perspectives, passions, and talents to help us change the world."

Who the hell asked you!?

Oh, and get off my damn lawn!

Interesting. My guess is no March event. I suspect MBP upgrades will be quietly rolled out - 32GB, Kaby Lake, etc. I'm hoping the new iPad Pro takes its design cues from the iPhone 8 - OLED, bezeless, 3D Touch. Probably won't happen though until gen 3 in 2018. Gen 2 will probably be an incremental upgrade - new Pencil, perhaps 3D Touch, and haptic home button like iPhone 7. Fine with me. Still loving my gen 1 iPad Pro!
