They are demanding AirDrop work on Android devices. That's Apple technology that Apple uses to differentiate its products that is being given away. It's no different than demanding that Spotify give Apple Music access to the results of Spotify's music recommendation algorithm for free.
That is different because Spotify are an app maker
Not an OS maker there is a difference

What are the EU requiring for companies to have better access to the OS
What’s wrong with that if they are on the platform
This thread and a few others must have thousands of posts answering the above. A very succinct version of these responses is that in some people’s minds it is wrong.

If you as a company don’t want to give people the ability to work better on your OS and want to keep them for your own products
Then don’t let 3rd parties on your platform them

They are not an app maker. They are a for profit streaming service who delivers digital sound content using a variety of standards technologies.
Exactly they are not an OS maker there is a difference don’t allow companies on your platform them treat them like 2nd class citizens

Nope. They are paying for space on apples infrastructure. Resources Spotify doesn’t own.“Second class citizens” is a hyperbolic response.
Then they are treated like 2nd class citizens then on ios

Nonsense. Government overreach is government overreach. Can’t put lipstick on a pig.
If you’re not willing to allow 3rd parties access to better connectivity on your platform
Then don’t allow them on then
Or else it’s fake competition

Doesn’t matter. What is fake competition is what the eu did. Give a slice of apples success to freeloaders.
So the EU are creating fake competition by having all headphone manufacturers the same access to iOS as AirPods do
So that in turn increases competition in that category because then they all have the same access to the operating system
So then they all compete on different things for customers cash

Irrelevant. They are using apples infrastructure to make money.
Then don’t let them on the platform then if you don’t want them to have proper access to tools on the OS that you provide to Apple Music then

Again. I am using Bose headphones right now. They do everything AirPods can do with one exception. I happen to think they are better than AirPods. The free market is working. Explain how it's "fake competition" if users can buy and use superior products made by other manufacturers?

Why doesn't the EU force Bose to give Apple its noise cancellation algorithm. It's not fair Apple can't compete with it.

Exactly.

It’s fake competition because the headphone manufacturers didn’t learn or pay Apple for access. It was given to them.

Fake competition.

Because they are not the operating system maker that’s why
If you are not prepared to allow 3rd parties the same access to the OS as your own products then don’t allow them on your platform just restrict them like you do with other things

Then don’t let them on the platform then if you don’t want them to have proper access to tools on the OS that you provide to Apple Music then
Why. They opt in willingly. Pay the $99 willingly. Publish an app willingly. They get the same rights as others. There is no issue.

What you cite is a fake issue.

Fake competition.

Irrelevant. As a third party you knew the rules. Sign up or not. Have a good business plan or not. But don’t move the goal posts.

It’s a fake issue. They can use driver kit. And if they don’t like it go somewhere else.
- use the web
- use embedded systems
- develop your own radio
- use a not for iOS olatform

Oh wait….
Well your answer is the reason the DMA exists then buddy

Well buddy to come full circle the DMA is overreach, which gives away Apple assets for free. Freeloaders can use it. That’s a fact.

The wsj published an article in innovation in the eu. It was abysmal. And in part the DMA reflects the problems the eu faces.
