How can it make other people products worse when it will improve Bose headphones for example on a connectivity level with iOS
Because Apple won’t invest the resources to fix problems like that in the future because it doesn’t give them a competitive advantage. These features cost millions and millions of dollars to develop. If Apple has to immediately turn around and give the feature to its competitors, we’re counting on Apple to make things better out of the goodness of their heart. Companies exist to make money - if the ROI isn’t there, they won’t invest the money. Which means the next problem like Bluetooth pairing stays broken for everyone.

You could flip it the other way and say you need 3rd parties on your platform yet your not prepared to give them access to work better with your OS for the customer
It’s Apple’s property! They should be able to charge, not charge, offer features, not offer features, whatever they want! In my opinion there is no justifiable reason whatsoever to take Apple’s property away and give it to its competitors.

Lack of innovation drives down product features, leads to stagnation and less product being sold. Company loses out in long run.

Why should they? Back to the same question. Why should I give my competitors access to my stuff when I’ve spent time and money on it. Answer. I won’t spend time and money on it. Lose and lose.

Today in "potential Apple DMA violations" we have them using notarization as a form of App Review.

(this is for an App on a 3rd party App Store)

Only a matter of time until the worst of the worst type of apps start to be distributed.

Lack of innovation from whom
No 3rd party can connect to iOS better because apple wont allow it

Then don’t let them on your platform then if you don’t want 3rd parties to have better access to the OS

It’s apple’s platform so it’s their job to help
3rd parties to have better access to their platform
They are not fixing connectivity if they keep it for themselves and nobody else

It’s a ripple effect. Lack of innovation for all connected to the ecosystem.

What better? You said it yourself Bluetooth is Bluetooth.
Then don’t let them on your platform then if you don’t want 3rd parties to have better access to the OS
Then don’t engage in business with Apple. If a business doesn’t want to engage with a host don’t or do, but the business has to “follow the rules”.

Blah blah blah ripple effect ecosystem
Lack of innovation
It’s just a company buddy

What ecosystem for 3rd parties?
For example headphones

Apple doesn’t engage with headphone makers as it’s standard Bluetooth that’s the point

Blah, blah blah? If it’s just a company it really doesn’t matter if 3rd parties have a worse experience or not as you claim.

Do you believe my Bose have any issues connecting to an iPhone?

No it’s not their job to help their competitors sell competing products.

Yes they are fixing connectivity. They fixed it for their customers, and inspired Android to introduce a similar feature two years later. And then eventually rolled it out to others. None of that would have happened if the EU had its way.

Which is why Mario Draghi, the WSJ and others keep telling the EU their regulations are killing innovation in the EU.

Right. So what worse experience for 3rd parities as you claim?
meaning it’s just a company that sells products that’s all you don’t need to be so angry about the DMA that’s all

The worse experience is they don’t have better connectivity compared with AirPods because of software that apple don’t let other companies have access to so in turn that’s a poorer experience.

You bought a pair of Bose headphones anyway?

If that is the case as you claim that apple fixed connectivity for their customers using their products
Then why does no 3rd party headphone maker have better access on iOS then?
If it helps innovation

What innovation there is only 2 mobile operating systems worldwide apart from in china?

The DMA is huge government overreach that forces Apple to give away its intellectual property to anyone who asks.

No crocodile tears here. A manufacturer will tend to build a vertical ecosystem. Samsung, Apple, Honda all do it. If the third party manufacturer doesn’t want to do business with the primary then they shouldn’t.

Bluetooth is a standard. Every headphone manufacturer supports Bluetooth.

The above is not apples fault. It was tried but the prevailing operating systems are very popular.

As it’s just a company that sells products who has the issue unless it’s not just a company that sells products to you.

The big difference between these companies you mention is they are not a mobile OS maker who only compete with one other company in the western world

The headphones connect just fine. To my iPad, Mac and iPhone. Would it have been nicer if I got the neat animation and easier paring? Sure. But Apple shouldn’t have to give its inventions away for free (although in this case they do, as of last year).

What innovation there is only 2 mobile operating systems worldwide apart from in china?
Plenty of innovation. For example, a few years ago Apple released new headphone pairing technology that is apparently so fundamental that not providing it to others for free is an antitrust violation.

And even if there wasn’t innovation between iOS and Android, it’s not like Apple doesn’t compete against the Chinese manufacturers and OSes.

It is because you as the owner of the operating system is deliberately not allowing anyone to have access to this software
So you are deliberately giving yourself an advantage that NO OTHER COMPANY will ever be able to achieve on your platform.
It doesn’t matter if Bose for example comes up with amazing connectivity apple wont allow it

Yep. I see nothing wrong with that when you have 28% market share.

Yes Bluetooth is a standard but there is a difference
Apple are deliberately not giving companies access to better connectivity to the platform so essentially they are gatekeepers

Why are you complaining about alleged gimped access for 3rd parties.
As it’s just a company that sells products who has the issue unless it’s not just a company that sells products to you.
I certainly it dont have an issue with Apple. It’s the DMA I have an issue with.

You’re going to move the goalposts here? But yeah Samsung makes Tizen.
Yes Bluetooth is a standard but there is a difference
There is no better connectivity unless you direct connection the port.
Apple are deliberately not giving companies access to better connectivity to the platform so essentially they are gatekeepers
Direct connection to the port provides better connectivity. You’re using gatekeepers to define gatekeepers . Circular reasoning.

Apple is just a company to me and that’s it
So if they have to let 3rd parties have better access to iOS then so be it

Why would you have an issue with apple
When you use certain types of language
Against anyone that challenges them like the EU

AirPods have better access than any other headphone maker so your wrong on that one regarding connectivity with iOS

In correct deliberately holding back software to give your products an advantage over the competition on your platform is not correct

Apple is just a company to me and that’s it

True it’s just a company that spends billions in r&d and in the eu are forced to give away for nothing it’s intellectual property.

Think the DMA is totally government overreach.
AirPods have better access than any other headphone maker so your wrong on that one regarding connectivity with iOS
Why? Does Apple engineer them better than the competition so the sound quality is very, very good?
In correct deliberately holding back software to give your products an advantage over the competition on your platform is not correct
Well if the government mandates a company give away it’s IP, I can see why they would hold their crowned jewels back.

because they make the OS that’s why they’re devices connect better because they have access to the code so they can make changes unlike 3rd parties who can’t magically make their devices connect better to iOS
So in turn they are deliberately giving themselves an advantage over the competition it’s not about price or hardware or design.

Its just a company to me and that’s all
So if for example if they are required to offer companies access to software that make devices connect better and companies to have access to more compatible then so be it
It’s just silly taken things personally when governments or courts legislate against a company
