Apple Approves 'Notch Remover' App for iPhone X

The app doesn't do that to be rejected as far as I know. As I understand it is just a simple image editing app.

Moreover, these are human interface guidelines, not app store review guidelines which makes a big difference when it comes to enforcement.

Anyway, I was just disagreeing with the OP, who said the app didn’t go against the guidelines. I guess it’s up to Apple if they want to remove an app that goes against their guidelines, at least in spirit.

The notch isn't an issue for apps like Facebook, email, iMessage etc which is probably how most people use their phone most of the time. Watching video is pretty bad *if* the that video has a wide aspect ratio. In other words, just about all of Netflix. I wish this app could make that experience better.

Two issues with this.

1. It is just an image editor with a shortcut to make them a wallpaper, not really a violation, nor a “FIX”.
2. Anyone who has paid for this device, likely sees all of the vitriol over the “Notch” as absolute FUD, so they don’t really care about this app or anything like it in the first place.

Yeh, they only time you really don't want to see the notch is when you're watching a movie, or playing a game I guess.
But other than that the notch really isnt a big deal.
Take away the notch and it no longer looks like the iconic iPhone X.
Apple should include the option for those who want it. I don't see why people should have to pay 99c for an App to do it.

Everyyyyone is used to the notch. You seriously don’t even notice it when using the phone. I have embraced.

It’s just so funny how a lot of the people who said the notch sucks are now the ones who are fine with it.

Apple ain’t going nowhere! Haha

I’m my opinion the notch screams out “I am an iPhone X!” With this app people will look at your phone and ask “ Is that a Galaxy S2? I did not know that those things are still being made!”

Honestly I thought Apple would have implemented something similar built into iOS for the X.
My phone won't be here till the end of the month or first of Dec so I don't know how long it'll take to get over the notch.

I do think it'll get smaller in the 2018 or 2019 release

If I really hated the notch so bad that I needed to hide it, I think the logical thing would be to not spend $1200 on the phone.

I just can't see any issue at all with the notch. It makes the actual bezels look very small, compared to something like the S8, which has pronounced and noticeable ones at the top & bottom. This app just gives it the illusion of a huge forehead for no reason at all.

Also - I find it annoying that this causes unequal rounding of the wallpaper image, a much sharper corner at the top compared to the natural corners of the phone at the bottom.

I didn't like the notch until I used an iPhone X in person, then I realized I didn't even notice the notch.

It's not nearly as bad as pictures make it look.
