Apple Approves 'Notch Remover' App for iPhone X

I like it without the notch. It looks much better to me with the black background and the time/battery/signal information displayed in white. It has a symmetry that is missing when content is shown at the top and the notch is brought into focus.

That is what Apple should have done to begin with. The area to each side of the notch should have been reserved for system use and the area for app display should have started below that.

I’ll keep the notch or nose, because like my nose I only see it when I think about it.
 
I guess it does what it says...but for me I actually like the notch and doesn't bother me. As someone stated earlier are we going to now put a black bar on the bottom to even out!
 
Not sure why people get so hung up over this. This is only a wallpaper editor, adding a black part on top. This will only seen on the home screen and lock screen. Of course Apple has no reason to not approve it. Heck, Apple themselves has a classic wallpaper with black background that will create a similar look.

Right so not only is it not removing the notch it’s making the notch that much more noticeable in apps where this app can’t create a fake bezel to “hide” the notch.

Everyone, give or take most of the people who actually own the phone and don’t just pontificate from a pleather recliner.

It is. They just adjust your wallpaper by adding a black strip. Any photo editing app can do this. iOS just adjusted the status info to white to work with the dark strip.

What it doesn’t do is change anything within apps.
 
notch go but you're still stuck with 1/3 of the space of phone info at the top. Might as well keep the notch
 
Prefer how it looks with the notch, big black mass at the top makes it look too top-heavy.

The way it is now I know what that space is because no one is trying to hide it or pretend it doesn’t exist. This just looks like a bad bandaid. Also nothing uniform about a black bar on the top but not the bottom.

I was mixed on the notch in photos. I thought it was technically neat but not sold on the look. Actually played with an X last night and it took like two seconds to be like, “this looks pretty sweet actually.”

You'd better get this app before it's pulled. I'll be shocked if this app is still available 24 hours from now.
 
The reason for removal seems a bit dubious when I'm sure there are a shitton of crappy apps littering the App Store that violate most of Apple's design guidelines.

The Notch is not nearly as offputting as
some are making it. It's just a matter of either adjusting to it after using it for a while, which is typically like anything we use that we don't have experience with. Or, you have those who just want to disapprove of the Notch regardless because They don't like the design, even with all the technology behind it.

And then people will blame Apple when their screens burn in because of the app. This is why Apple didn’t black everything out, because when you finally use that space, that area will Be brighter than the rest of the screen. This is why the Pixel navbar keeps burning in.
 
Good. Give us options. The beauty with Android has always been about choice or at least more of them including more settings apps and launchers to alter things we prefer.

Now if Apple let us have no dock background. I put a black wallpaper on the X and I still see the "gray open mouth" on the bottom. I want it sleek with all black and the only colors are from the cartoony-looking icons.

Check the dock apps below. Android phones can have it transparent and have none.

Agreed! Why buy iPhone X when you're just gonna make it "look" like the 7 or the 8? I didn't like the notch but have gotten over it the first few seconds I have the phone in my hand. Why complain about something that you're gonna buy anyway??? Oh wait! This is ComplainRumors, right...
