I honestly don’t know whether 200 is a lot or not, by the comments here I’m guessing not… I’m not a gamer but have a free 3 month trial of this so maybe I should redeem that

I agree with some of the other comments. The games are mediocre, for the most part, IMO. Give me a constant stream/reasonable number of AAA quality, console style games with top tier graphics to show off the A series chips and I would subscribe again in a second. Unless that happens I don’t have much interest.

Trying to be console games is why they have problems. What they need is originals that bring back the feeling of candy crush and cut the rope. Mobile games shouldn’t try and be pc games. They shouldn’t even be dumbed down to feel like console ports. They need to be their own thing with their own expertise leveraging what makes the mobile platform great.

Starting to get much better. You've got a mix now, of the shorter games just to pass time while you wait, to much longer games, like the original Final Fantasy authors' new game, Fantasian (the opening scene / music reminds of FFVII) and the Zelda like Oceanhorn 2; both these in the 10's of hours. What is also good is you can play the same games on Mac, iPhone and iPad, with all data shared via icloud.

Plus you can play a number of them on Apple TV as well.

in all seriousness, a single Apple triple A studio, whether bought in or built up internally, would act as an amazing tent pole for the platform.
A stream of Apple exclusive games that compete with the best on PC or Xbox/PS4 would really fill a gap.
One single studio simply cannot create a stream of AAA games. And there are very few studios that can constantly produce hit games.

There is a reason why Microsoft and Sony are buying multiple studios to create exclusive content for their hardware; to have constant stream of (hit) games you simply need as many studios as possible.

Yep keep it simple. If I wanted console type games I’d get a console.

I have Apple Arcade in my Apple One subscription. I didn’t expect to like it, but I actually do. There seem to be lots of negative feelings about this service, but I find the games diverse and quite fun. I’m a casual gamer though and don’t have any time to invest in big AAA games that “real” gamers crave for.

For me, Apple Arcade is great for the children. A nice variety of games that are microtransaction and ad free.
Exactly. My friend's 6 year old daughter comes over and loves to play on one of my older iPads. I tried putting some games on there that I thought she would like to try out. However most of them were constantly pushing ads, in-app purchases it was a nightmare. I signed up for the 3 month trial of Apple Arcade and couldn't be happier. She is finding plenty of games that she likes that I've downloaded all without those hassles.

My favourite in Arcade is Mini Motorways.

Now we need some real games, and as many indicated above, refreshing old games may be one way to go.

I think the point you’re missing is the vast majority are not interested in dinky mobile games from 2011.

People want games with substance, graphics, and great gameplay that will lock players in. And it can be done.

Apple wants to catch a whiff of gaming without the gaming, half ass it, say it’s not about competing with the big boys, and call it a day.

I think your wrong, and I think type of games that have previously shown success on mobile demonstrate that mobile gaming is not about graphics or locking players in for long periods but rather something you can repeatedly return to for multiple sessions a day.

Most people who game on mobile have vastly different expectations than console games.

How are you able to determine what the “vast majority” want?

A whiff of gaming? Apple is already top 3 in gaming revenue. Apple makes a living on promoting apps with in app purchasing. A sack of coins for 99 dollars. Appealing to kids and suckering them. Pay to win. That defines gaming on iOS.
