Stadia is doing this today. Play games that destroy high-end PC gaming systems via their cloud streaming. Just need an iPad or a TV and a controller.
High end PC gaming? No, not at all. As a Stadia user, it's far from 4k and Google already messed up with their service. It's just a matter of time before they stop the service.

A whiff of gaming? Apple is already top 3 in gaming revenue. Apple makes a living on promoting apps with in app purchasing. A sack of coins for 99 dollars. Appealing to kids and suckering them. Pay to win. That defines gaming on iOS.
And none of those games will never be released on Apple Arcade, ever.

Compared to much more easier money than not so much easier money, which one they’d choose?

Depending on how high end that “PC” is. If said game minimum requirement is SLI RTX3090, 64 GB of RAM, threadripper and 1TB NVME SSD then sure. Otherwise, probably not so much.

Then why do so many more people play those games than AAA games that require 500W graphics cards?
Maybe they don’t care about gaming and game is just another way to kill the time so they don’t feel the need to invest hardware into gaming?

I can buy 10 games at a yard sale for $5 that I get to keep forever so I do not agree with the pricing but agree with everything else you said. I'm going to email Tim about it directly
Also get backup if needed. CD/DVD itself wont hold up forever you know, assuming DRM isn’t in the way too much.

Most of them don't come on DVD - they're just paper and cardboard and plastic. The pieces are easy to lose but a lot of the time if the company that makes the game still exists you can mail them with some extra stamps they will send you the pieces you are missing

Well that’s somewhat reassuring I suppose. But I’d say it’s still a bit luck dependent. Helping someone selling board game, I see some big companies passing on replacement parts to sellers and local distributors rather than from themselves. Me would be trying as hard as possible to create a backup regardless or worse, find it elsewhere.

1 out of 3 - :)
Looks like almost a straight copy. I still have the original on my old iPad 3, so that will probably have to suffice. Plus, I get that neat original soundtrack!

But they are trying to bring home a quality gaming experience, or at least tried.

I was more excited to hear about stradia than I ever was Apple Arcade lame

Yet Apple Arcade is still here and by all accounts thriving and Stadia is just waiting to be killed off.

Apple Arcade is ****. It’s for kids, it’s for Apple to say “ hey we are in the gaming business”.
I have more respect for Googles offering. At least they tried to bring Red Dead Redemption in a streaming fashion.
Apple brings “ cut the rope” lmfao

Apple Arcade is doing fine and Stadia is on its deathbed. That’s all that really needs to be said.

Aside from the lackluster selection of games, where Apple Arcade fails for me is that only a small fraction of the games are actually available on all platforms. Only a part is playable on Apple TV, even less on Macs.

No it’s not what’s all to be said. I get it, you’re an Apple apologist. Apple took the easy road.

god forbid another tech company actually tried to implement the future. they may have failed now, but i don’t mind giving them the credit they deserve.

Apple is on the way downward/

I’m far from an Apple apologist. I’m actually heavily contemplating getting my first Pixel this year because I’m not happy with Apple’s moves lately.

Google wasn’t the first, GeForce Now was in public beta all the way back in 2/2018. Stadia beat them to a beta exit but GFN is more refined. There are some things they did well with Stadia, particularly having higher resolution support (although lower quality) but GeForce Now is overall the better service and unlike Stadia, your games are actually in Steam so if GFN disappears one day, your game library is safe.

Would be nice that Arcade lets you play ANY game from any game developer. I would love to play Xbox games or Nintendo games on my ATV. ;)

With the launch of three new games this morning, Apple's $4.99 per month Apple Arcade service now offers more than 200 games for iPhone, iPad, and Mac users to play.

apple-arcade-orange-feature.jpg

The milestone was first highlighted by CNET, and it comes alongside the launch of Super Leap Day, Super Stickman Golf 3+, and Monster Hunter Stories+, all of which can be downloaded and played starting today.

Apple Arcade first launched in September 2019, so it has taken just under two years for Apple to provide customers with 200 titles to choose from.

With Apple Arcade, all of the games are free and there are no in-app purchase options or ads. The service is priced at $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year, and with that subscription price, all members of the family can access games. Apple also offers a one-month free trial for anyone, a three-month free trial for those who purchase an Apple device, and there are also often promotions for longer trial periods.

Apple has been working with both indie developers and big name gaming companies on Apple Arcade titles since it launched, and in April of this year, Apple began re-releasing classic titles like Fruit Ninja, Monument Valley, Mini Metro, Threes, and more.

Apple Arcade titles can be played on iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple TVs, and many games are designed to support controllers, with support available for PlayStation and Xbox controllers. The service is available in more than 150 countries.

New titles are added to Apple Arcade on a regular basis, and in the near future, the service will be gaining "MasterChef: Let's Cook," "Layton's Mystery Journey+," "Asphalt Airborne 8+," "Baldo The Guardian Owls," "Tetris Beat," and "Wurdweb."

Don’t get me wrong; there are definitely some good games on Apple Arcade. With that said, I’ve seen more and more poor quality games make it into Apple Arcade. I feel it should only include premium games, but it feels diluted right now with…poop. 😬

And not a single one is worth playing
Not on an Apple TV anyway - fine on a phone, but I'm pretty sure if they just ran CS:GO, GTA and LOL - they would win a huge audience for the Apple TV.

Might Apple bring the original Monkey Island titles back to life?
I would like that, or even a new Monkey Island game. And perhaps hire Ron Gilbert to make it?

Not going to happen, though. Monkey Island belongs to Disney now. And Disney is going to make Monkey Island disappear so it does not become a competitor to its Pirates of the Caribbean franchise (which Disney will try to revive no matter how much of a flop the last film has been and no matter how Johnny Deep, the sole reason why the franchise has been so successful, is no longer going back to it following all the bad press in which he has been involved).

I tried every Apple Arcade and learned that 104 of the games I didn’t enjoy but did enjoy 130 games. Two addition games I liked were removed were Sports games under the brand Ultimate rivals based on Hockey and Basketball. i think it is worth the money but from some of the games I can understand the hate the service.
