removing mac mini and mac pro, man ... is this first stage of becoming a 100% pad and phone company ? At least they are not removing the imac, lets hope this means they will update it also, if not computers in total is completely put in shadows by itoys now.

yeah apple tell reseller to get rid of those useless mac minis and mac pros no one needs desktops anymore everyone get an ipad and edit 1080p and 4k video on 10 inch screen device... F***CKK!

did anyone noticed the sarcasm...?

To be fair, the iPad : Mac Pro sales ratio is probably around 1000 and the proportion of demo units didn't reflect that to begin with.

An iPad is also the kind of device you need to try to know if it suits you. $3000+ Mac Pros, on the other hand, I'm pretty sure you know if you need one before trying a demo in store. They will still be on demo at the Apple store for the few that want to examine the case's build quality or something.

I wonder what will soon constitute an "iPad"? What names?

iPad - iPad 10.7"

Mark Hung, Research Director, Wireless, Gartner Research:

"Wi-Fi-enabled devices will grow from less than 1 billion units in 2010 to more than 3 billion in 2015. Given the current constraints of legacy 802.11 standards and the increased speed, capacity, coverage and battery life that 802.11ac offers, this next generation of Wi-Fi is poised for rapid growth across all product segments. 802.11ac will be one of the most influential mobile and wireless technologies in the years to come."

True, this sounds about right to me. :p

Doesn't surprise too much though a bit disappointed that the desktops get less space. They already don't have much but now even less. Hope that's not a bad sign for their future. But on the other side that's what we as customer indirect asking for.

John Gruber has speculated about the smaller iPad being called "iPad Air", since Apple would want to emphasize on the fact that it would be significantly thinner and lighter than the regular iPad, more so than it's smaller.

Then we could have the "iPad Air" and the "iPad Pro with Retina Display".
Reminds you of something? :p

Apple is no longer a company that makes serious machines, they make toys.

Since when? 2007?

Apple began as a company that "made toys for the hobby crowd" so forever.

Also check out this comment from a journalist:

"It still looks too much like a toy" says an accountant friend.

"The gadgets ... are nice and easy to operate but I worry that my big number crunching won't happen"

The person is not talking about iPad. That's someone dismissing Mac as a toy back in 1985 because it came with gadgets, by which he was referring to a mouse.

In a future update the "don't steal Mac OSX" extension will be replaced by the extension " We make toys now build your own OSX machine".

We're told that the emphasis on iPad display space is coming at the expense of Apple's Mac Pro and Mac mini computers, which are reportedly being removed from display entirely at these locations.

Oh no!!

I hope they won't cancel the Mac Mini... They are such wonderful computers.. I've been using them for years, upgrading every second generation or so.

I hope this isn't true, they're even hard to get on the refurb store now :( Think I'll quickly pick up a server model from a reseller if they do get cancelled.

Yipee, at long last Apple is going to introduce the iBoard!

It's interesting that Apple didn't ask to double space, but triple it.

That would mean they expect the new "iPad mini" to sell twice as much as the current iPad.

That, combined with the lower guidances for the next quarter, probably means the "iPad mini" will be cheap. Very cheap.

Hey, Google looses $ on every Nexus 7 sold. Want to saturate a market with a new product for the Holidays?

I wonder how long they have been stockpiling?

I wonder how the "Cloud" theme will play into the Mini? $199 with 8g because "The Cloud is for everything"?

Nah, $199 with 16g, $249 with 32g?

Going to be wild. Crazed shoppers, organs being sold for Minis, Nexus 7 users walking the lines talking trash. Cars smashing store fronts.

Wild I say, wild. :apple:

I think someone else mentioned this, but rather than triple the space meaning more new products than rumored, it could just mean they plan to have more display ipad minis since people will be wanting to come in and see the new product. (thus reducing amount of time it will take to put your hands on one when you wander into the store.)

I am cranky about the mac mini and mac pro disrespect though.

Ipad? So this will not be the Iphone event
Edit: Oh nvm forgot they did ipod, iphone & ipad together.
