If they do revamp the current iPad I will be thoroughly annoyed, its only around 5 months old yet it would be deemed 'old technology' thus reducing it's resale price over the updated model!
I know it happens all the time and I expect it with Apple but come on at least give me a year of it being current!

I can't see why Apple should care at all about the price you can resell your current iPad for. It's not like your current iPad becomes less functional at the moment a new model is released.

Yipee, at long last Apple is going to introduce the iBoard!

(And right on schedule...)

Again.

To me, rumors are validated with leaks of actual parts, parts that would feasibly be used in the rumored device. There is no "retina-ish" 7.85" panel that I'm aware of. I doubt Apple will release a non-retina panel in an iPad Mini, not with the intro of the MBP-R and the iPad "3." Those two products have set the precedent for retina displays on products larger than the iPhone.

Speculation from mainstream news channels is rarely credible. If Anandtech speculates on the parts Apple could use and shows evidence of a ramp in production of those parts, then the rumor would carry more weight.

Not saying it can't happen, but until we see a legit panel, I'm skeptical. And so close to 9/12 without such a part leaked, I doubt the legitimacy of the Mini.

That's a rendering that's leaked from Apple?
Looks scarily like an Authorised Reseller in my city...

Yes?

But they could set the iPad 2 EOL because of the new port connector and place the iPad mini with non-retina but same pixel count instead; as new entry level. Still would make lots of sense to me.

Technically speaking if you build a hackintosh you're not stealing Mac OSX because Mountain Lion is now called OSX removing the "Mac" part and the coders are so lazy they haven't even changed the name of the kext.
Are you sure they haven't changed the name of the kext?

What's the purpose of the "don't steal mac os x" kext?

Is my Apple Store the only one that doesn't have fancy white tables and shelves like the one in the article...?

I'm sure. I'm running 10.8.1

What do you know about Mac desktop profit margins?

Tim Cook has already confirmed new desktops will come in 2013, including a new Mac Pro.

Why do people still spread this myth. He said no such thing. He didn't mention any machine specifically. He was about as vague as could be.

He said they were working on something that the pro user would really like. No mention of a Mac Pro.

I feel cheated. What happened to the pro stuff lined up for 2013?

I feel your pain bro!!! Mr Cook has promised us Pro's New Mac Pro's in 2013! I need one really bad with the new Pro Tools10 If its not a big time machine or it does not happened, then i say goodbye to Mac(apple) forever! My profession can not keep waiting for a company chasing the latest fad with toys!

" Franz,

Thanks for your email. Our Pro customers like you are really important to us. Although we didn’t have a chance to talk about a new Mac Pro at today’s event, don’t worry as we’re working on something really great for later next year. We also updated the current model today.

We’ve been continuing to update Final Cut Pro X with revolutionary pro features like industry leading multi-cam support and we just updated Aperture with incredible new image adjustment features.

We also announced a MacBook Pro with a Retina Display that is a great solution for many pros.

Tim "

You're correct :(

Pretty obvious that he's talking about a computer for the Pro market, not the iMac/Mac mini. We don't know if it will be called "Mac Pro" or something else but it would still be what people are asking for: a powerful desktop.

Eventually there will be a release that totally flops, and then they will go back to desktops. (Hope this is it...)

Apple is busy at work converting Mac platform to suit consumers better and even more busy waiving its middle fingers at Pros.

Nothing more needs to be said.

Why doesn't apple just ask their resellers to stop selling other products? Oh wait a minute, didnt they already do that before?

Absolutely disgusting..... even more disgusting that apple fanboys applaud this.

right! Because Apple products don't sell as well as other brands and resellers would lose out so much money by making more space!

I wouldn't hold your breath for a new Mac Pro next year. Remember this is the same company that said that pros would love the new version of Final Cut, only to give us the consumer grade iMovie Pro. Clearly the lack of updates to the tower and the discontinuation of the 17' MacBook Pro are further indications that Apple doesn't care about the pro market.

iPad is taking over :(
