Welcome to the Tim Cook era = ever more iOS crap and ZERO emphasis on the Mac or Pro stuff. Does anyone remember when Apple used to release great media producing software and servers? Long time ago, huh? ;)

They are following the money trail. I can't say I blame them because increasing shareholder value is the whole reason a corporation exists in the first place. Macs are such a small piece of the pie when it comes to overall profitability I can see why some models are being removed from display to focus on more iPad models.

There is such little money in the pro stuff that Apple could let Microsoft and the PC builders have it all and it would have no impact on profitability.

I still love my Apple stuff, but Apple as a corporation is drunk on money.

You realize by doing that Apple is alienating a very large customer base.

If these people start going elsewhere that shareholder equity will decline and good if it does.

Surely it can mean only one thing. Ditch the iPod and iPhone name and call it all iPad!!!

- iPad- 4" (new iPhone)
- iPad - 7" (iPod replacement)
- iPad -10" (retina display iPad)

And all of them can make calls with the built in iPhone app!

What in the world does this article have to do with the "pro stuff lined up for 2013"?

Apple works on more than one thing at once you know.

Right, except that "thing" is iPad Mini and the new iPhone.

MacPro team got their office underground in a little bunker you know.

If the Mac Pro was priced to sell, it would sell. Not too many consumers are lined up to spend $2500- $3700 for a computer these days.

That's what I thought too, some fanboys won't be agree with us here, though  .. Fact is:

MacPro.does.not.sell.well.simply.because.Apple.does.not.want.it.to, not because it can't.

Didn't Apple ask resellers to stop selling other products? [paraphrased]
They sure did… when it was legal for them to, since they obtained a very, very brief ban on some Samsung products.
Absolutely disgusting… even more disgusting that apple fanboys applaud this.
What's disgusting? There is valid reasoning behind this:
…the iPad accounts for 55% of dollar share and 61% of unit share among sales at the resellers but only representing 15% of display space. With the changes, the iPad will account for 45% of showroom space.

I feel cheated. What happened to the pro stuff lined up for 2013?

You feel cheated that Apple hasn't delivered something they have not actually promised and further more they haven't delivered the unpromised items in the year prior to the year in which they never promised them in?

I think this site needs to be re-named MacWhiners.com because that's all people do on this site these days.

It's upsetting so see that more store real estate will be allocated to iPads and such. If they are to add to the iPad displays that means they will have to take away from other displays. They aren't gonna take the space from the laptops. That is for sure. :( This makes me sad. What will become of our beautiful desktops.

You can order online. It doesn't matter what the store looks like.

This is to be expected. When there are new desktops, which WILL happen, they'll get their space. New products should be given their space to shine.

It's not like display arrangements are permanent.

New or not, iPad and iPhone always outshine any of :apple: desktop lines. Less space for bigger products and more space for smaller products (literally).

And now the banner space? Well I can assure you, a MacPro or even iMac will never have a banner THAT big, refreshed or not. Can't you see that they always be placed right around the dark dusty corner with tiny sized banner, where less people would try really hard to notice them?
Just check any Apple Store near you.

Exactly. If they had a $999 desktop with an i7 and decent GPU it would sell very well and you would see a whole bunch of "Apple re-invigorates desktop" style articles. Jobs had vision, problem is it was very narrow; it was very good though. The narrow part will eventually hurt since the iCraze won't last forever. They are peaking and with every peak there will be a valley. Better to have your hands in a few more cookie jars when certain areas (iDevices) aren't selling well.

Pro market is lucrative, but it isn't returning those 30-50% margins they want so badly. Still it is a good market and will continue to be.

Another thing, half the freaking store is iPads. I went into an Apple store a year ago and noticed this and it was disgusting to see all the mass of people standing around as if they were looking at some alien technology. Buy the damn thing or get out, just a huge crowd for a limited amount of products. It's not like a sony style store where you have a lot of electronics. I just don't get it.

An Apple rep on the phone was assisting me with a small issue and mentioned the Apple store to which I replied "I would never set foot in that wretched store, I would rather wait 2 weeks and mail it in" thankfully the issue was just a glitchy software update so I didnt have to, but still the thought of going in there is just gross. Horrible experience with the crowd of people just standing around. Hell I recall some people literally just standing there looking like they were stoned or something, not moving, not there for an appointment, just looking off into space staying stationary.

And you can order iPad online too? So what's with dedicating more space to an already popular product?

It does matter what the store looks like, things they put in the center is the ones they want to sell most. And vice versa.

So is Apple going to use white tables now?

Instead of maple?

No. This is about third party resellers, who have never been allowed to use natural wood tables lest someone be confused about not being in an official Apple store. Yes Apple has a look and feel patent on their store design features

Also I wonder how many folks forget that the official stores yank the pro and mini every holiday when the express center goes up. This is basically the same game

Yeah they should just use the iMac and MacPro spaces to make room for more iPads. Anyone who's looking the Macs can just politely ask the staffs.

Yes because apple only sells itoys nothing else. No one can see how an iMac or MacBook looks or feels yeah just fill an intire store with iPhones and iPads nothing else. That makes a lot of sense ?????

Um, the Apple displays in Best Buy use the same wooden tables that are used in the Apple Stores and Best Buy is obviously a third party reseller
