Wow, talk about revisionist history. Your local school system has failed you.

And I guess Johnson's "attempt" worked. Because in the 21st century the Democrats are the champions of progressive values today. Maybe you should rewrite history to make the first black president a republican too.

I would love to see your proof on this.

You're killing us, Tim.

Stay out of politics.
Actually he's not "killing us". He's doing a fine job managing the company. Sorry if you don't agree with his politics, but Apple has 1st amendment rights. Tim shouldn't have to live in a country where a landlord could choose not to rent to him because of his sexual orientation. Of course, in California this is already illegal. But in his home state of Alabama, it's still technically legal. It shouldn't be. That's why we need this federal law.

Religion and Christianity are not the same thing. Christianity is, at its heart, a relationship with God.

Being a Christian means you stand rightly before God, because you confess Jesus as the Son of God who is the propitiation for our sins.

Your religious mumbo-jumbo isn't going to save you here. Fancy and misleading definitions don't change the fact that religious bigotry is still bigotry. Just like a person killing in the name of god (and millions have died this way, to this very day) doesn't absolve you from murder, neither does one's religion absolve you from laws and socially acceptable behaviour.

They are compared to Donald Trump.

lol
I think Donald Trump says what most Republicans actually feel but don't have the balls to actually say because they know if they did they would never win an election. It's good that we have Trump around to show America the type of swine that truly make up the GOP.

You seem set on thinking that Republicans have a history of racism... Id love to see your proof on this.

Do mean like how Republicans don't say anything when Trump vilifies a minority, but when their rich, white, war hero is smeared, they go apoplectic?

But of course it doesn't matter what proof is provided, your post is merely a troll and you probably think Roof and the Council of Conservative Citizens are not racists either. Or that conservatives aren't Republicans, and so on...

I'll admit it's not something I know much about. My only experiences are with people who have immigrated here, and none of them I've met seemed particularly hardcore about their tradition. They'll practice them, but don't adhere to them at all costs.
Yeah, my parents aren't like that either. I've told them that there is no way in HELL, that they'll choose my bride. Migrating to NZ has changed them.

Ok, regardless, "person of color" is still a pretty commonly used phrase when referring to non-white people but not referring to any particular race. There is nothing offensive about it.

Maybe not to "white" people, I mean Caucasians.

Belief is individual and anyone can believe what they want. It's when they act on those beliefs and the result is discrimation, oppression, or the infringement of the rights of others is where the issue is. That goes for anyone.

"At Apple we believe in equal treatment for everyone, regardless of where they come from, what they look like, how they worship or who they love."

but what if the person only loves their race (whatever it is), only loves heterosexuals, and came here illegally and they believe its their religion to kill Americans.

Then what? everyone still? Just asking the question.... o_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

Indeed. Trump doesn't get "dog whistle politics." Eg: You don't hate Obama because he black, it's because he's a Kenyan Muslim Marxist. Most people with an IQ over 50 see it for what it is, others (conservatives) think they're being soo clever.

But they love Trump because he comes out and says the same think the conservatives say to each other. It lets them come out of the closet.

I hope Trump stays in politics forever.

Not a troll at all, but assuming that I somehow support an actual racist like Roof is inappropriate. But I cant expect much more from someone who's name is "nutjob"

In the USA the phrase "Person of color" is widely, and rightly so, considered a racist statement. I will assume you did not know that.

"Nobody colored me," is the reply to your phrase that seems appropriate.

No, "person of color" is not considered racist, it's the generally accepted term, as a form of solidarity.

Where did you get that PoC is a racist term?

I think an example would be the recent attempt at legislation that would allow the killing of gays. Stuff like that.
You can say or think what you want. Nobody cares. It's when you act upon those beliefs and it affects others that is where your rights stop.

"harmful religious freedom legislation"? You mean like...the First Amendment?

My point is if you can't see something as obvious as the long history of institutional racism in the GOP then you'll likely deny that Roof who is clearly a racist, was inspired by a group who called themselves conservatives which is the ideology of the Republican party.

Do you understand now?

While I am not opposed to the internals of the law, why do we have states, if 31/50 do not have protections, why is it incumbent on the Federal Government to enact this?

To me, this is an overreach, not a statement on whether these laws are needed. I understand those that disagree, but a careful reading of Article I of the US Constitution, and the Amendments, do not empower the Federal Government to do these kinds of things.

Selective ignoring of Amendments 9 and 10, and the principle of rights being innately given by your Creator (God, Parents, Allah, Jehovah, the Universe, or just being born) and governments are there to take them away is, to me, what is at stake here.

I am preparing myself to be disappointed by the reactions of some people on here.

History will look kindly upon Apple's support of stuff like this. History will not look upon bigots kindly.

I'm willing to slowly watch their voices dwindle into an overly vocal minority, while the rest of us can live together happily without unnecessary hate.

This x1000.

Happily work for a top 100 Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index organisation, the top in Healthcare for many years now. The bigots will eventually fade into confines of the history books through education and understanding. Thankfully younger generations are forcing this change and are the roots of this cause so will drown out the hatred generation by generation.

Oh and yay for the UK being top in the ILGA Europe rainbow map again. Lead by example.

So you oppose the Civil Rights Act of 1964?
