About 20 minutes ago, however I am in the UK though... so not sure if that could be a reason or not.
Well if you only installed it in the last twenty minutes odds are they haven't sent out a notification yet.

You only get one when Apple sends one out, and it would be pretty annoying of Apple to send one every ten minutes.

I installed it about 15 hours ago and have yet to receive a notification. In Settings, Notifications are turned on and as far as I can tell, everything is working the way it should. I launched the App initially and checked it out to see it and have only touched the app once since. When I go into news stories it updates local and national news and sports but I haven't gotten anything yet.

I redeemed the AP app and approved notifications yesterday around 5:00pm. I have yet to see a single notification. I double-checked and all three (badge, sound, pop-up) are enabled in settings.

For anyone not getting alerts.... Did the initial installation of the App appear to be normal? Mine was a little weird... After installation, the icon wasn't there on the phone but the text that says AP News was there. I could launch the app by clicking where the icon should be. I rebooted the phone and the icon was there after that. I have no clue if that is tied to me not getting notifications but I thought I'd throw that out there. Maybe tonight when I get home I'll uninstall and reinstall if I'm still not getting anything by then.

My installation was just fine and normal, but I still do not get notifications.

Don't agree with this...

I don't think Apple should be handling the push notifications. And, do these count as text messages or sms? If they do count to my total, I'd prob run out very quickly.

I also don't like the way they are handled. Fox example, what if I wanted to create a chess game where people could move when they aren't connected, like a 1 day per move type of game. I don't really want to pay for 100s of text messages for 1 game.

If they are not considered SMS then I think AT&T will probably feel like they are being bypassed. For example, I could create a simple app that all it did was receive text messages to an email address (your phone number) and show you notifications. AT&T easily bypassed for email alerts about my server being down!

I have a feeling this push notification will be a repeat of mobilefail....

Why does apple insist on pushing what they believe is best for us?
Is this company ran by the rothchilds,jp morgans & rockefellers?
Why do they insist on having full control of its population?

Give me choices dammit if I want to kill my battery because I want pandora or any other app running in the background then let me be.

I agree that once numerous push alerts come thru that it will start to get annoying and hard to track...one thing I always wanted with the iphone software (non-jailbroken software) is a "summary" screen as the "locked" screen (the screen when you first press a button and you have to swipe to unlock)...this screen could have new email, new SMS, upcoming calendar appointments, and 5-10 latest push alerts listed on the screen...no clickable links or anything, because that's the whole point of having the screen locked, but that screen could be scrollable...

There seems to be some definitive lack of understanding of how push notifications work and what your options are as a developer and an end user. May I suggest you do two things first, go back and watch the original presentation where it was explained in detail, and consider reading the entire thread.

Notable Points:

1. Developers may utilize any or all parts of the push service, and can give users specefic options under settings.
2. Users can enable/disable audible alerts, SMS alerts, and badges.
3. Push notifications are not text messages.
4. Think of it as syncing with the mobileme cloud in the background.

Things unkown or strongly suggested:

1. SMS alerts should have a "close" or "acknowledge" button that removes the alert and possibley even the badging on that application.
2. The stand by screen (void of SMS alerts and still locked) should have an alternative method for displaying notifications. My idea is in the space between the little lock icon and the bluetooth/battery icons they should have a white oval/circle (mocking the app badging) and simply put the number of notifications in the circle, having it be monochrome like the other icons in this strip.

Plus, you can shut off push notification for any app you choose or shut down push notifications altogether. If your worried about battery, just turn it off.

For the devs that didn't seem to get their notification testing e-mail, double-check to make sure it didn't get caught by your anti-spam software/provider. I had to retrieve mine from my quarantine..

Was someone filming it as you were chased by the undead rabies victims?

Just got my first one -

I just received my first notification from AP News. One thing I'd like is maybe a different background color for the pop up to distinguish it from an SMS alert. I know it's not a problem for me, but I could see it making sense to do so.

what happens if an alert wants to be pushed but you don't have a data signal - is that alert pushed through as soon as you move into service, or is it lost?

Test...test...TEST!

Test that thing Apple! And please also test your iTunes and your iTunes Connect web site for God's sake... I'm so sick and tired of all you bugs... not that I don't make bugs, but I have reasons...
