Yes I am totally aware of that.Blame your Canadian Dollar. $200cad is accurate. 1CAD=.76USD. 200*(.76)=$152USD.
Yes I am totally aware of that.
But Apple is so rich they can afford to swallow some of that currency fluctuation.
Did our wages increase? No. So have Apple products gotten more expensive for Canadians? Yes.
The fact that I ordered this proves what an Apple Fanboy I am... I really don't need this, but I figure what the hell I'll try it out. haha
It's definitely possible, the hardware is capable of 4K at 30fps. However, whether Apple will release a software update for this.. I'm not so sure about. I could see them releasing a 4K Apple TV, which requires new hardware. They tend to make features exclusive to new hardware.. even though the previous version could be updated for it.is it possible that this unit could be updated to 4K UHD via firmware update at some point in future?
I believe an analysis of hardware suggested that it couldn't handle 4K, but I wonder how final such a determination is... in other words, is there a chance?
Does your TV have sound out?How does TV work if you're not using your TV for sound? Right now I have a soundbar hooked up to my TV and when I'm using my TV the soundbar switches to optical. How will this work now that TV no longer has optical port?
Ah, so I wouldn't even need to be using the optical port right now. As long as the HDMI from my TV is connected to the soundbar that's where TV will get its sound from. Makes sense.AppleTV - HDMI -> TV - optical -> soundbar.
Does your TV have sound out?
not at 60hz
For those of you who are tempted to upgrade to 64 GB, but are hesitant about the price, you can effectively reduce the cost of the upgrade to only $36 by waiting an extra 8-11 days and ordering the new Apple TV from B&H Photo, were you don't have to pay tax unless you are ordering from within New York. Free expedited shipping through B&H, so you'll get it pretty quick. And the $14 saved in tax (approximate) goes toward the cost of the 64 GB upgrade...
Lots of people have Fire TVs, Nexus, ChromeCast & existing Apple TVs. And when you speak of gaming.. people have Xboxs & Playstations to satisfy their gaming needs.
I wanna get more information before taking the plunge. I already have a ChromeCast, Apple TV3 & Nexus Player. Most wanted app I want on the Apple TV is the Plex app, I know that's quite awhile away.
my two cents
- save the money for apple care
- spent the money instead on the 64GB model (might be overkill, better safe than sorry)
just my opinion, but I wouldn't get apple care on an apple tv.
no spinning harddrive to wear out, no delicate screen to crack, it's not a device that you normally take with you - so won't get wet, or pounded in bottom of a backpack...
Plex has stated they already submitted their Apple TV app so they will probably be there day one.

You know, legally you are still required to pay taxes (assuming you live in a state that has to pay st) - you should pay them latest when you do your state income tax return. That businesses that do not operate in your state don't charge taxes does not mean you don't have to pay it. Yes I know, most people don't care and won't pay them ... but they should.
At least this is the case in PA, I assume it is true for other states too ...
Even if that was possible, I think most of us here know that Apple wouldn't be that generous to put out a FW update. They will just put out new hardware with 4K capability and charge more of course.is it possible that this unit could be updated to 4K UHD via firmware update at some point in future?

that is exactly what I (tried) to say: don't spend the money, save it instead (or spend on the memory upgrade)
My understanding is the App will be 200MB until you start to run it and then it can download an addition 2GB for a total of 2200MB. Then if it needs more it will have to swap out parts of the 2200MB. My Guess is that means the full 2200MB will stay on the ATV. Apple will not want to re-download the 2200mb each time you play the game. This is why I think they have the 64gb option for those that have a lot of games that are also large. I could be wrong. I am choosing the 64gb option because I believe Apple had a good reason to offer both. If you are right then what is the reason for the 64GB version? Other then what someone else said that it is only Apple Profits. I think there are more reasons but I have not read anything that confirms that (like keeping multiple movies and tv shows on the device).Apps/games are only allowed to be 200MB max. Anything over that they must download every time the app is run and there are limits on how much they can download also. Because of this, it's not likely you'll see games much over the 200MB maximum.
In California, IIRC, there is a general formula/percentage/something of the sort that adds on the sales tax from out of state purchases if you don't have all the receipts. I make less than $10,000 since I'm college and only do a 20 hour per week internship. Came out to be less than $20 in total. They only ask you to pay the entire sales tax on an out-of-state purchase if its over $1000. Emphasis on the word 'ask'.You know, legally you are still required to pay taxes (assuming you live in a state that has to pay st) - you should pay them latest when you do your state income tax return.
